Some of y'all know what a geek I am for the original "RoboCop," which is my favorite movie of all time. Needless to say, this story tickles me greatly.

RoboCop Statue in Detroit

In case you haven’t heard…Detroit’s mayor recently asked his tax payers how they can revitalise the motor city. Someone offered the suggestion of building a RoboCop statue and tweeted the following. “Philadelphia has a statue of Rocky & RoboCop would kick Rocky’s butt. He’s a GREAT ambassador for Detroit.” Unfortunately Detroit’s mayor responded with “There are not any plans to erect a statue to RoboCop. Thank you for your suggestion.”

Well, that set off all the fans into a frenzy and they set up a donation fund of $50,000 to erect a Robo statue. The internet is a very powerful tool and guess what…it’s official. Over $50,000 was raised and Detroit will be getting their cyborg guardian.

My co-workers and I were discussing this earlier today and we've decided that if Philadelphia has a statue of Rocky and Detroit's gonna get a statue of RoboCop, then New Jersey (our home state) needs a statue of the Toxic Avenger.

 

After all, it sez right on the movie poster that he's "The first superhero from New Jersey!"

This is a Chinese bootleg "RoboCop" toy, which is named "RobertCop" in what I assume is an attempt to avoid copyright infringement

 

RobertCop is quite the Net sensation, it would seem... he even has his own fan page on Facebook.

What I wanna know is, why "RobertCop 3?" Does this mean I somehow missed RobertCops 1 and 2?

 

All I know is, if I ever see one of these things, I am totally buying it.
