2010 - Favorite Disc

2. It aint worth 100%..........but then again, what is??

Harem Scarem's debut, Dream Theater 'Images & Words' & Bill Champlin 'Runaway'.

10/10 in my books :)

Ha ha only just seen this.

Harem Scarem is definitely a 90%+ but again still not 100%.......that would mean every song, every note being perfect, which it isnt.

As for Dream Theater.....LOL, nowhere near. Havent listened to it for ages, but would struggle past 80%.......just??

To these ears Images And Words might be the greatest release ever, it is simply flawless, my personal fav with Operation: Mindcrime in 2nd. The Harem Scarem debut isn't far behind, Love Reaction might be it's weak link, albeit it's a great track non the less.

I 'd give it 80%. The only DT i have,on 2 vinyl versions. Not in my best 200 albums.

I must admit, I don't really rate the DT album at all either. Granted I'm not a prog fan so that wouldn't help, but it is one of two Dream Theatre CDs I do actually own and have spent time with... but yeah, does nothing for me. Wouldn't even rate in my top 3000 or so albums of all time, I guess. :(

As for Harem Scarem, I agree that it's a brilliant disc but not quite 100% either. I agree that 'Love reaction' would be the weakest link, great song as it still is anyway. :)

Accept - Blood of the Nations

Keel - Streets of Rock N Roll(very underrated IMO)

Okay, for the first time since about March this year I have had a comprehensive look at everything that's been released this year. I put them into some sort of order, more often than not based on 1 or 2 spins. This year, more than any other, I have bought so many CDs that I have not actually had as much time for new releases. Therefore, there is no legitimate order to these CDs, but here's a rough idea of what's going to make up my top 40's at the top of the year, not including still-to-be-released discs:

Melodic HR:

1 . Treat - Coup de grace

2 . Crazy Lixx - New religion

3 . Crashdiet - Generation wild

4 . HEAT - Freedom rock

5 . White Widdow - s/t

6 . Issa - Sign of angels

7 . Pretty Maids - Pandemonium

8 . Reckless Love - s/t

9 . First Signal - s/t

10 . Terry Brock - Diamond Blue

11 . Ratt - Infestation

12 . Loveblast - s/t

13 . Skull Daze - s/t

14 . Chris Laney - Only come out at night

15 . Taking Dawn - Time to burn

16 . Negative - Neon

Tell me mate, how the fuck did this pass me by??

Seriously that is one great album.

Anyone who's not heard this, needs to - hardly a filler on it!

Again, amazed at the high rating of the Brock album? All the ratings are pretty high, to be honest, imo, but yeah, the Brock one is a surprise... which you evidently realised, soon enough. ;)

Yeah, that album never did anything for me. And I remember that being a difficult pill to swallow. I tried many times to listen to it.

It was actually a lot better than I remembered when I heard it again recently, and it even earned a handsome 83% from me... but unfortunately it's not exactly demanding replays repeatedly. Not like Steelhouse Lane.

Early H.e.a.t gets played way more often than Erik era. Though, I probably haven't listened to them in a year. I think I listen to a greater variety of music than most of you, so I'll go a long while without listening to an album/artist. Even if it's one of my favourites.

Plenty of free time I guess, buddy. Great for ya!

Because I didn't spin, for example, any manowar in my casa the last 10+ years, this doesn't mean anything for the value of their music. Thanks to my brain neurons and synapses it lives eternally in my mind.

I've thought about this argument, I even thought of a logarithmic formula to grant each repeat listening, but then I realized that this is not fair for recent releases. It's not the case that somebody just uploaded in my brain teragigamegabytes of music to evaluate it.

Ha ha we are not talking hundreds of spins here - just what ive spun the most or more importantly what i would now reach for first (given the time) from that given year.

Its interesting to look back.

Looking back I didn't remember the Brock cd. Once I took it from the shelf (it was actually very close to me) and turn it back to read the titles next to the glossy OBI, here came the brain neurons and their synapses. 5 great tracks!

    • Ordered Saturday, arrived today. Wasn't expecting them that quickly. I especially like the stickered custom-fitted protective mailer that the Live at Budokan Tokyo 1983 set came in, protecting it from being banged against other merchandise in the carton. Very nicely priced (see my threads in the deals section).
    • Filthy Rich - Too Hot for Love
    • Awesome! I got my copy last week. About a year ago, they said announced that they were re-recording their songs, but I'm not sure if they're still doing it.
    • They released a double best of, Ultimate Hits and double CD of Masterpieces two years ago.
    • Yeah pretty good band, the cd is hard to find , I got the demo recordings cd they released on Street Legacy back in 2013.
    • "Suspicious Heart" by Van Stephenson
    • I wound up picking this one up as well, and I must say, this has been a most pleasant surprise. Very good melodic rock/AOR throughout, and gets better with each listen. Not sure why they haven't released "Midnight Lady" as a single/video, as it is far and away the best track on the album... IMO of course.
    • This one is really good honestly, 10 songs, pretty much all their big hits. Very concise.
    • I think most people know my stance on these two. I love LA Guns and think Tracii is one of the best guitarists to come out of the hair metal scene, and while I like Stryper I have really gone off them due to Michaels compulsion to release new material every second Wednesday. I have not bought the last 2 or 3 Stryper albums, and a bunch of other stuff he is involved in because of this. Hell, didnt even pick the first Sunbomb album up til early this year and only then it was because I got it for £5 instead of the usual £13 to £15 that Frontiers CDs usually cost. That album did not impress me. Musically it was tight but Sweets vocals were pretty "meh", and sounds like they are gonna be even worse on this album. Have to agree to what has already been said, but I can barely even understand what he is singing. Now while I am fine with listening to foreign language songs, if a singers native tongue is English, I wanna be able to understand what he is singing. Fuck me, there are death metal bands out there easier to understand than this. If I didnt know the song title, I would think it was called I'm bating bulls yeah
