H.E.A.T.

Sounds ok but with the raving about this CD, was expecting something awe-inspiring out of the Ark of the Covenant. Standard AOR type stuff it sounds... even the theme song to one of those cheesy 80's teen movies.

I felt the same way about their debut. Sure it was nice AOR but nothing that made me jump out of my chair, which is strange since I loved old Europe and these guys got compared to them quite a bit. Maybe I'm just missing something.

Excellent stuff. Just heard the bonus track from the debut too, 'Stay'. Holy shitballs that is amazing.

Thank God for you Geoff.

So many people seems to be slating this band / these songs (you should read the threads over at Mel rock???! labelling it as cheesy pop with a few guitars WTF?)

All I hear in these songs is sublime, perfectly written melodic rock....and as you say 'Stay' is a flawless song IMO.

Hey ho.

I think some of their songs are a bit Eurovision-synthpop type material, but they also mix it up with harder-rocking songs. One things that's clear is that - whereas TREAT perfectly mixed their old sound with a fresh modern production - H.E.A.T are just pure 80's. Meaning they're competing with all the best stuff from that era. So if this isn't as good as classic albums from Alien/Europe/Glory/Skagarack then they'll get big criticism from all the hardened old-school fans...

Yes. I like older EUROPE also but must be missing what the overzealous AOR fan hype is about with this.

Speaking of 80's/early 90's cheese, the intro to that song reminds me of 90210 intro from ages ago... only more rock.

weird, i dont think of HEAT as AOR.

I mean straight For Your Heart from the debut is just melodic hard rock to me??

I am not an "AOR fan" either, nor do I think HEAT are an AOR band. But yeah, to each their own.

I think there is a bit of the whole tall poppy garbage going on with these guys and music fans/critics. A bit of hype is generated and a few people take it on as their duty to cut them down. Even within a genre where hype = 10 people getting excited, sadly it still happens.

Oh well, I'm not overly phased. I love what I've heard so far and if they keep it up I'll love it, "over-hyped" or not. :)

Here are some samples of all the tracks. Other than maybe track 12 High On Love being somewhat of a filler, the rest sounds pretty fantastic. Although no real syrprise that this one will be amazing.

I still cant get over how freakin great these sound samples are. As you say High On Love sounds pretty shite....think they should have cut that and included Tonight on the standard release......but the other 12 , man, just cool stuff.
