ROCKLAHOMA 2010

LV KIX

Recommended Posts

Some of the Rocklahoma 2010 line-up is set:

ZZ Top

Godsmack

Tesla

Adelitas Way

Buckcherry

Saving Abel

Theory Of A Deadman

Burn Halo

Saliva

Can't imagine people are gonna fly in from all over the world for this line up.

Retrospect will have a stage with bands like Wildstreet, Krank, The Glitter Boys, and Firstryke.

There is a Rock Fest in Cadott, WI that would do this. Not sure if they do anymore but it was always something like:

Saturday lineup

Eddie Money

System of a Down

ELO

Shania Twain

examples of course but yeah, get with a common theme

oh... and I forgot about Cinderella. Not sure who is playing which day. I hope they at least group the bands together in the right way. I sure hope Cinderella doesn't go on before a band like Theory Of A Deadman or Godsmack.

Figures this festival would start going towards the "all genres for all people" vein... I mean, realistically, how many years in a row are the Hair Metal Nation going to spend $$ to come and see the same bands?

Just sayin'. <_<

True to some extent... But how many people are gonna travel for this line-up when you can see many of these bands within an hour or two drive from where you are? Not sure how many younger concert goers have the cash and will be able to travel... I assume the crowd will be MUCH younger this year.

Looks like this festival may be catering t people who live a state or two away. The last two Rocklahoma shows had people from all over the world. Not so sure with the mixed bag of bands on the bill people will be so willing to do this. I'm gonna be at Rocklahoma this year... I know my friends (one from Arizona & one from Virginia) who went the first 3 years aren't going this year. Both of them will be going to the M3 show instead.

I suppose Sam and I may be the only ones from HH to be at Rocklahoma this year. I've seen Godsmack on many occasions and they are a very good live band. Shannon Larkin alone is worth seeing Godsmack. Though I think the Adelitas Way release is greatly overrated I guess they might be cool to check out.

With any luck maybe they will add Cinder Road and Charm City Devils to the bill. I can hope anyway... :headbanger:

Yeah I'm not going this year..very disappointed in the new format. Damn I'm still pissed I didn't go last year cuz I was going to the scamfest known as Rock Gone Wild!! There is a Midwest Rockfest in Witchita, Ks in July w/ Y&T, TWISTED SISTER, KIX & WINGER (so far) that is much cheaper & much closer that I plan on checking out...

So they've changed the format then! Apart from 'that little old band form Texas' & Tesla the line-up sucks!

Hey CINDERELLA doesn't suck...hopefully just an oversite on your part ;) Would love to see ZZ TOP though..never seen 'em live :(

Yes , I hated to see Rocklahoma go this route but I guess they wanted to try a "modern" approach. I'll still be there with a bunch of Retrospect acts but it won't have the same impact as the pure 80s fest we've had in the past. There are some possibilities floating around now about the largest 80s Rock fest ever seen on the planet in 2011. Only plans right now but I'll keep everyone updated as news comes in. Most likely will be held in Southern Cal and initial ideas are talkin about 100 bands over 5 days.

Even further from Texas, great! :(

Even though I wasn't going this year anyway, I am still heartbroken about ROK. End of an era I guess, I don't think they will never get it back. I also think they will lose their shirts on this one, unless some bigger names are added. I don't see anyone but locals traveling to see this one.

Also, I think ROK will miss the "relatively" well behaved, mostly adult 80s rock crowd/campers. They might not be prepared for the crowd they are now seeking to attract. JMO

  • 2 months later...

I assume Sam (Retrospect) and I will be the only ones there this year from the HH board. I'm pretty sure this is safe to assume. I think Sam is leaving today. My flight leaves Thursday morning. I hope Sam remembers to pick me up in Tulsa at the airport (LOL).

Retrospect has a good line-up again this year. I guess I'll only wander over to the main stage for Godsmack on Friday... Cinderella on Saturday.... and Tesla on Sunday.

If anyone else is going let me know...

I really thought I was gonna be able to pull off DRF... but now it doesn't look like I will be able to. To expensive for a place to stay and all.

Unless I can hitch a ride with Wildstreet...LOL

Hmmmm.... I think I took care of the problem with my messages. I wish Geoff would stop sending me all those photos. I had stuff in there from Jan. of 2006. Should be working now.

Got back from Rocklahoma at about 5 A.M. this morning.

I've gotta say... I had a blast. I actually didn't see many bands on the main stage. I did run into Shannon (drummer for Godsmack, ex-Wrathchild and UKJ) and was able to watch Godsmack from the stage. I also saw Cinderella, ZZ Top, and Tesla on the main stage. Much to my suprise, I would have to say ZZ Top was the best band on the main stage.

I spent most of the time in the Retrospect tent. The bands on this stage were awesome. The highlight of the whole festival was the finale when Wildstreet was joined on stage by members of The Glitterboys, Black Tora, Firstryche, and the Gypsy Pisteleros.

I not only got to hear all the new Wildstreet song performed live, but I actually got to hear the final mix for the new release. I've gotta say... This release is gonna be great. The songs are so much better and the band has started to form its own identity. The songs are powerful anthems that should grow on anyone who likes "our" style rock. Should be done by the 4th of July.

I should have a few pictures up soon if anyone is interested. Didn't bother with many main stage bands. I did get a few Godsmack from the stage... thanks to Shannon letting me up there. Most others are from the Retrospect stage.
