Never been to Oz, but know loads of people who have with varying reports from fantastic to not so great (probably like most places and down to personal opinion). Of all the places in the world I have been to so far, I know where I would like to be and I am here to be honest. England may not live up to Australia in all it's beauty, but no denying there are some really fantastic places on the beautiful island of ours.

True, but living and working in London is pretty horrid, I just hate the overcrowding. It's better now I'm living out in Kent, but commuting is a real pain.

I'd rather live in Scotland, but there's one major drawback with that.

I lived in London for about 18 months back in the late 80's and didn't mind it too much, but much prefer it where I am now with the nice green countryside and peace and quiet.

Backed.....I always enjoy going on holiday, but its great to get back to England. You just get accustomed to a certain way of life / & people and nothing else compares. You can have all the scenery & bollocks, but if the vibe/people dont click with you its just not worth it.

It must be said that scanning thread titles with tired work-worn eyes, 'pom' look a lot like 'porn'.

That would be a strange poll...

Probably the most intelligent thing said in this thread !!!!!!!

The bottom line is, It does not matter what country in the world you live in, the bottom line is "There is no place like home"

Yep, too true. The fact is, even someone from Kuwait or Ethiopia (for example) has a family and memories back home and as much as a lot of people may look at places like that with relief that they don't live there, that's someone's home too, and everyone's got a soft spot for their home.

Really? I'm Australian and England has never been a home to me. Or any of my friends. Or my originally Dutch (now Australian) parents. Might be time for a little more research, mate. ;)
