Strauss' decision not to enforce the follow-on could've been fatal, and he is just so cautious.

You are spot on there.....

The minute he did that, I thought we were still in with a chance.

I'm guessing it was because he wanted to rest Flintoff and not let him bowl again straight away - in which case it worked perfectly. Trouble is, even though the Aussie side isn't what it used to be, they're still capable of batting away a day & a half as they have a ton of resilience. I think we could've comfortably won by at least an innings had you followed-on as our bowlers were flying. This will be a pretty close series I reckon....

Yeah, agreed that flintoff was the match winner in the end.

Is it just me or this series silar to the last one the poms won. Ie the test the aussies had in the bag ended in a draw, and the one that was getting close went englands way?

Neither draws were close in '05. The first draw (3rd test) you had to hang on for dear life, like England did in the first one last week and we couldn't get your last man out. The second draw (5th test) had us a lead of 40 odd on the final day,Pietersen got a century and left you needing 340 to win with only a a few overs left in the day. You lot batted one over and the game was stopped for bad light.

Been watching it on DVD recently Jez

Just think mate, even though the cricket standard so far has been no'where near that of 2005, I reckon due to it happening only once every blue moon ,you will probably be adding another series to your collection soon

I watch it every day before bedtime. I await volume 2 with anticipation mate and already have it on pre-order

Did you hear KP is out for the rest of the series? No surprise really as his injury as been getting worse every game. Ian Bell to take his place, so we are down to 10 men :D

I think you will be able to cover Kevin "Figjam" Pietersen because other than his first innings in the first test, he has been out of sorts big time and not looked a threat at all, probably because of his injury and to be honest, that bowling attack should not trouble anyone with the slightest bit of talent

Your main concern is to keep Freddy out on the park because without him you will be in strife.

It will be interesting to see if Australia continue to let Flintoff keep going off the ground when not bowling like he and Pietersen did throughout the second test.

Australia had and have every right not to allow it if the player has gone into the match with an injury and it will be interesting to see if their generosity continues.

Did I hear that Phil Hughes has been dropped for the sake of Shane Watson?

If so i think that's bloody stupid. Bringing in an injury prone allrounder at the expense of a specialist batsman. I don't know if Watson has ever made it thru a 5 day match without being injured....

And Phil Hughes, ....wasn't he demolishing everyone in the months before the test series during the county season? Surely since he is used to the conditions and the pitches, and was successful during that period, surely you'd stay with him?

(Now after saying that, Watson is destined to make a hundred and take a couple of bags of wickets)

And I'd have Stuart Clark in my side.

I have not heard the line-up yet

He was demolishing everyone but at the moment he is really out of sorts but then again, he is not the only one not in form.

Watson is not really an opening batsman but they will be thinking he is another bowling option as well and more bowling options are something they desperately need.

Tough decision this one

And I'd have Stuart Clark in my side.

Clark should have been in the 1st and 2nd Test and now the only bowling he has done is in the 3 day warm up game they just had but in all honesty he could not do any worse than some others.

It could also be very risky not going in with a spinner {If they choose not to play Hauritz} and having to bowl England out on a 5th day wicket.{That's if we win the toss and bat first}

Going from all reports, it looks as though the weather forecast will probably ensure this one is a draw <_<

Better than going 2 down mate

Rain will mess up day one, but they reckon on the next 4 days being not too bad, so hopefully all will be ok.

Pretty good start but going from all reports I think too much time will be lost in this match due to rain {Who would think that would ever happen in sunny old England :lol: } to get a result.

The long range weather forecast for the fourth test is not to flash either !!!!

Hmm - This one does have draw written all over it due to the weather. Tomorrow looks ok, so should have a full day, then very showery on Saturday, and Monday aswell, so I reckon they are gonna lose at least another full day , if not more to add to todays. They can make some time up tomorrow and Sunday, so you never know. It is a flat batting wicket, so I can't see a lot of wickets falling quickly, which is what will be needed to get a result.

Was impressed with Watson today Dave - kept his nerve and batted well.

Yeah, it was a big gamble that has paid off........so far !!!!!!!!

Make no mistake, he was only picked because he can bowl as well, because really, he is not an opening batsman yet.... May become one but his only opening batting experiences have been for Queensland this season and that was a dismal failure.

Very risky going into a test match without a specialist opening batsman but then again, Hughes really is out of touch at the moment.

Watching the footy but flicking over to the cricket in the ads. I think they've lost another wicket just before each ad break.

Hats off to Anderson and Onions.......You won't see better swing bowling than that.....especially the late swing Anderson was getting which at times was nearly unplayable and the conditions for it were perfect to get alot of swing... ....Well you would think.....Pity the fuckin' Aussie bowlers can't do it :lame:

Now what the fuck was Hussey thinking <_< ...That is the second time this series he has left a ball and been bowled and actually that is the 5th time this series a wicket has fallen that way :lame:

Now just before I go, I feel I need to have another parting shot at that old blind geriatric c :censored: t, Koertzen......Clarke's LBW was missing leg fuckin stump you dumb fuck, even Stevie Wonder could have seen that and please tell me how Bell was not given out LBW to Johnson when on 18.....It was fuckin' plumb Koertzen you uselss fuck.......

Retire the blind dumb fucktard to a nursing home :fu:

The day belonged to England by a country mile <_< ................................................ :crying:
