Ive just been reading over at melrock noticeboard the number of people slagging this album off as 'Jeff by numbers' 'AOR by numbers' etc etc.

Jesus Christ!

If our small community of fans cant appreciate a great melodic rock album such as this and get behind the artist, and stop whinging about digipacks (WTF is wrong with some people??!) etc, this scene is well and truly dead

Quite depressing really.

Well mate, you'll be glad to know I'm on board with you guys. I played this album through last night and there's no doubt at all that this is a legit contender for album of the year. Man, picking between this, D2 and Steel Panther is going to be hell!!! Played all three back to back and although I'd put D2 at the top spot, I'm just not sure.

Anyway, to this album, mate I fully agree with what you said above. IMO, this is JSS's best album to date. I adore the debut Talisman CD and debut Eyes CD the most out of his previous work, but I'm going to go out and say that this might just be better than both.

I thought 'Running From The Heartache' is about the best song I've heard this year, with 'One Day At A Time', 'My everything' and 'If I fall' all being almost equally amazing. Those 4 songs are early faves, but I loved most the stuff here. 'Damage Is Done' and 'Just go' are the weakest songs, bordering on filler and 'Put your money where your mouth is' is only saved by a pretty cool chorus, but aside from those three, everything else kicks ass.

Has it been mentioned above how awesome the solos are too? Holy shit, there is some seriously awesome shredding on this thing.

Anyway, it may not end up being album of they year, but definitely a contender and a top 3 finisher.

If this CD gets album of the year it'll be due to the aftermath of the journey debacle. Just like Arnel & co. his rags to riches story trumps the quality of 'Revelation'. The story will become bigger than the music.

Sorry mate, don't get that all. I actually like 'Revelation' but aside from that I have no time for Journey and couldn't care less about them or what happens concerning them. All that speaks to me is the music. The album I will pick for "album of the year" will be the one with the best songs on it, plain and simply.

Yeah 'Damage Is Done' was the weak link for me initially as well. But i love it now. The other 2 you mention i loved from the off. 'Money.......' just kicks arse and 'Just Go' has an awesome solo which just lifts the song for me.

Another song which no-one seems to be mentioning is the opener 'Invincible'....man that is a cool song and i love the way it seemlessly leads straight into 'One Love'.

Backed on the solos - killer throughout.

This D2, and SP are my top 3 too. Initially I thought i'd jumped in too soon as I listened to SP again and thought nah,WET still aint better than this - but on repeated listens WET just gets better and better. Defo no 1 for me now.

Cheers

PS Wigwam delayed til Jan 2010 now :-(

PPS.....stillnot heard Winger yet but am going to Spotify it tonight :-)

Yep, and I'm a big Journey fan and I have no idea that there is a 'rags to riches' story around Pineda? The only things I know about him are: 1. That Schon found him from a Youtube clip, and 2. That he's a staggeringly good vocalist who's been partly responsible for one of Journey's best albums in donkey's years.

Those are the only stories for me.

P.s. I NEED to hear this W.E.T album as I need something to save this year (in the AOR/MHR genre) for me....
