Here we go. Loads and loads of great releases this year (hence a top 40 list). The classic rock bands certainly ain't dead that's for sure and certainly gave the newer bands a big run for their money throughout. Number one spot was a very difficult choice, but Mastedon just pipped it, as it covers just about all my favourite musical bases in one album. Some great re-issues on CD for the first time aswell, which I have noted in a seperate list with a few great box sets and live discs aswell.

I bought a shed load of stuff this year, so there were quite a few that didn't make it in.

I've edited a couple of mine, as I forgot the excellent Balance album, House Of Lords (although quite a lowly position) and Renegade 5 you so kindly reminded me about.

2. Danger Danger - Revolve

3. Steel Panther - Feel The Steel

4. Winger - Karma

5. Kiss - Sonic Boom

6. Place Vendome - Streets of Fire

7. Nural - Entitlement

8. Adelitas Way - s/t

9. Halestorm - s/t

The biggest surprise of the year for me was Winger. I had pretty much written him off after a dodgy album and pretty useless FF performance. But bugger me backwards if Karma aint a classic and is only beaten by 3 near flawless albums from WET, D2 and of course the awesome Steel Panther.

To be honest there aint much between Monty Are I and Coldrain, but I gave it to the more melodic release....although that takes nothing away from the awesomeness of Coldrain......the Japs did good.

Cheers

What about Sahara Rain (AT NUMBER ONE!!!) and Killing Touch... two of the worst CDs of the year? How much do you hate Matt? Come on everyone, tear his list apart please.

I can understand the other lists, but seriously, what kind of freak-ass list is that? Matt, please fight me.

Anyway, I do love you for putting Steel Panther in the list, though. Let's make love after we fight.

I got to give a lot of repeated spins to the best of 2009 on my holiday so once I settle in, unpack and sort some photos I'll try to get this sorted hopefully asap. So I can show you all the correct version of 2009. ;)

I didn't buy a ton of cd's in 2009 but I might as well throw my list up there out of what I bought:

Best of 2009:

1. Delain - April Rain -even though sleaze is my first choice in music, after listening to the samples Dan posted I had to get this cd and it rarely leaves my playlist. I play it so much Mrs. Jeff even knows some of the songs though she does not like "loud music". Not a bad track on here. I enjoyed it so much I had to find their debut Lucidity and purchase that. I am almost scared to search out similar bands for fear a whole new genre of music will end with my empty bank account and divorce papers.

2. Dynasty - Bring The Thunder -this one and the next 2 could swap spots in any way...loved all 3

3. Dirty Penny - Young & Reckless

4. Hardcore Superstar - Beg For It

5. Tango Down - Damage Control

6. FarCry - High Gear

Stuff that was just ok:

7. Burn Halo - Burn Halo -a few really good tracks, the rest are forgettable

8. Steel Panther - Feel The Steel -funny, but gets old quick, then funny again, then old again

9. Strike Twice - Strike Twice -with more play time in the future this one could grow on me

Didn't care for:

10. Lillian Axe - Sad Day On Planet Earth

I believe that was all I bought from 2009 so don't beat me up too bad on stuff excluded from my list.

A few from 2009 on my list to purchase are:

Winger

Danger Danger

Hardline

Lynch Mob

House of Lords

WASP

Chris Laney

...and any great sleaze releases that you guys and gals want to suggest to me that I missed. I learn and discover so much on this board, thanks and here's to a great 2010! I cannot wait for that Crashdiet cd....gonna kick some ass.

Jeff
