How to get out of print, never on cd tracks?

So where do you guys go when you are looking for tracks from an artist that were never on cd?

I was cranking some tunes on the computer and Dirty Looks "Take What Ya Get" shuffled on. It reminded me I always wanted to get my hands on their pre-Cool From The Wire tracks. The samples on their website are not the full songs of course.

Is my best bet to attempt to find the vinyls and transfer them to CD/mp3?

I think it just depends, here's a couple of my experiences, I got a copy of Vyper-Prepared To Strike that my friend had recorded from vinyl, it was full of cracks and pop, I fucked with the song Cold As A Stone forever, running it thru numerous filters and eq's, for about a year, finally I got it sounding tits, then I found the same song on Audio Galaxy, it was obviously a casette copy, but it didn't have the clarity, finally Sam released it, and my version even sounds better then his, but point is, if its something you think might be released eventually(and you'd be suprised what is) I would copy it, but don't fuck with it to much, if your sure its never going to see cd, I'd probably invest in some software, and take a little time with it, but I do not recomend tape, unless that's the absolute only source, vinyl has so much more sound, plus its a lot easier to get crackle and pop out then it is to sit and fuck with eq's trying to restore lost clarity.and record them as wavs not mp3's, you can transfer them to mp3's later, 192k no less!
