Not much worth seeing, in my opinion, comes my way. I plan to see Joe Bonamassa in Seattle in December, and I've convinced my brothers to go on the Monsters of Rock Cruise in February. Saw a local indie rock band called In Medias Res, last night. They, as always, were amazing.

Kind of. Dakota Rock Fest is no more. This year it's Empire Rock Fest that is being put on by a different promoter but very similar setup to Dakota Rock Fest.

Hall & Oates tomorrow night. Everytime they come around I miss it, but not this time.

Nice. I have not seen them, but they are still sounding amazing!

Two hours to go and there are a bunch of people with lawn chairs in front of the stage. Bastards!! Once it starts I'm gonna walk up to the front and stick my ass infront of some fat-ass in a chair.

Hall & Oates were absolutely incredible!! My only complaint would be that 90 minutes is not enough to go through their library justly--even with two encores. I guess I'll have to catch another show in the future. Incredible.

Yea I bet they could do a 90 minute medley and still leave some hits out...

I'm jealous. I caught Hall & Oates on HDNet about a month back. They were fantastic! Definitely one band I'd love to see live.

I went to the H.E.A.T. festival yesterday. The first band started at app. 3pm and it ended at 11:45pm. Awesome !! :party421: :party421:

Lineup:

Hollywood Burnouts (surprisingly really good local glam-rock band with hair-do like Poison. lol)

Serpentine

White Widdow

Human Zoo

Shakra

Keel

Stage Dolls

The best of the stack probably were the Stage Dolls. Torstein Flakne & team were in a really good mood and gave us a tremendous show. A little heavier than usual.

Second place goes to White Widdow and Serpentine. Both were very good. When I spoke to the Serpentine guys later on and told them that I saw them playing at The Borderline in London in March this year (Glen ! Dan !! :)) they nearly freaked as this was their first ever gig and very special to them. I also had a nice chat with Jules from WW. Funny and very pleasant chap !

Third place goes to Human Zoo. Good songs and great show, very much in vein of Gotthard.

Shakra wasn't bad, but very heavy.

Keel is not "my" music.

Some pics will follow ..........

No, no setlist and I didn't hear any covers. It was about 50/50 the first and second release.

Thanks man, how many was in attendance?

Hmmm, really difficult to tell. Maybe 300? Definitely less than when you were over to UFOR.

sounds great. Matt Black > Mills any day of the week....shame he wasnt singing the whole new album as it would have been better IMO.

Good to hear WW play a mix...some great songs on both albums.

I went to see Mitch Laddie and virgil & the Accelerators Thursday night. Ok not one for all you metalheads but boy can these two play guitar. Dave Ling from Classic Rock mag was behind me getting into it.

  • 2024 HH Donation Drive

Please support Heavy Harmonies! The donations goal is the out-of-pocket expenses to run the main site and this board for calendar year 2024.

    • He did want her to see " Living' On A Prayer" accurately works
    • Sorry my donation is small, but you know my circumstances Done It will be under name Andrew Sharp
    • Well... I mean... it's true.   Time once again to nag/beg/plead/insult (wait, what?) to help out covering Heavy Harmonies' expenses. Costs for the site run roughly US$195 a month, roughly the same as last several years.  So when I say "costs", what do I mean? It's the out-of-pocket expenses to keep Heavy Harmonies running: server lease, bandwidth, hosting support, and the subscription for this forum software, domain registration. The 2023 drive did pretty well, reaching 83% of goal of covering the annual costs. Let's see if we can meet, or better yet, beat that goal! The donation drive will run through Halloween, October 31.   Anyone who makes a single donation of $20 or more and has a board username will be added to the group "2024 Donors". This gets you the following benefits: A nice shiny icon in your profile showing that you are an HH Donor for 2024:  An increase in the size of your PM storage from 200 to 500 messages An increase in image attachment/upload storage from 20MB to 50MB Exempt from the search flood control (normally if you try and do a search more than every 10 seconds, you get an annoying little "please wait" message) No time limit on editing your own posts! This will especially be useful for those with trade/sale lists as you'll be able to edit them rather than posting revised versions. A warm fuzzy feeling inside that you are helping support Heavy Harmonies! If you donate $50 during the drive, either as a single donation or across multiple donations, you will be added to the group "2024 Gold Donors". This gets you the following in addition to the above: A bigger, shiny badge:  All your posts will be highlighted, because if you show this much dedication to HH, what you have to say is obviously more more important! (just kidding, but your posts will be accentuated). The ability to create a forum "signature" that will be added to all of your posts. If you donate using buttons on the main site, please put your board username in the notes section, and if you donate from here on the forum, please PM me the email address that you sent the donation from! Otherwise I have no way to tie your donation to your membership here on the board. If you are currently in the 2023 donor groups but don't wish to donate this year (or can't), at the beginning of the donation drive, your group membership features will revert to the regular non-donator membership group. Membership in the 2024 Donors group will last until the beginning of next year's donation drive, at which point you can donate again to remain in the Donors group with the same benefits, or revert back to your current member group. PayPal donation buttons are found at the top of all the pages on the main site and here on the forum on the right side at the top, or if you'd prefer to send a money order, check, or cash (not recommended, but I know some people prefer to do so), you can make payable to Dan Harding and send to: Heavy Harmonies P.O. Box 17021 Urbana, IL 61803 USA If you can't give $20, give $10... if you can't give $10, give $5... it's just once a year. (And if you happen to be fortunate enough to be earning gobs of money, please feel free to give bunches! I'm not opposed to having a sugar daddy... or seven.) As always, your support is greatly appreciated! -Dan
