Treat - Remasters

I noticed that Treat have released remastered versions of "The Pleasure Principle" and "Dreamhunter" with bonus tracks.

 

Has anyone bought these yet? I was going to and was wondering about the quality.

I just have copies of them and never wanted to part with the type of cash needed to pick up originals but these Remasters will do just fine.

I got the 'Pleasure Principle' and 'Dreamhunter' re-issues at that time. I'm still looking for copies of 'Scratch and bite' and the s/t disc, though.

Nah, no stoning - everyone in the world knows 'Organized Crime' is their best disc. 'Dreamhunter' and 'Pleasure Principle' are classics, though, and 2 and 3 in their flawless discography. I know you rate s/t at the top, but you're wrong.

 

As for 'Scratch and bite', it is in no way crap. Compared to the rest of them it is very simple, but that disc still has some of the best hooks being put out there in 1985. Love the album, even if it's not perfect.

The Self titled with Leven will always be my favorite but I'll gladly pick these up for $17 as a remaster instead of forking over $50 for the original. Sure 'Scratch' is their worst studio release but it's still very good when compared to other bands of the same genre/style.

I never claimed you said they were the best. That seams to be the popular opinion of most here. You & I agree (and Geoff & I don't as usual...he likes to be wrong a lot) that the S/T is their masterpiece followed closely by Organised Crime. I like all of their cd's with the exception of S&B...I would spend that $17 bucks on something better if it were me. If the dvd played in the USA then it might be worth it

I have copies of them all but to get them at that price instead of $50 than I'm gonna jump at the chance before these are out of print as well. It's the damn obsessive compulsive collector in me.

I can't make up my mind about buying them....I have original copies of 2 of them, only missing the Scratch & Bite CD and I've been hesitant to buy it because of the negative reviews....The release I'd like to pick up remastered is 'Organized Crime' since I only have a boot of it....

The remasters are pretty average though & definitely not worth getting if you already own the originals as there's no discernable difference in sound quality. Plus they're utterly spoilt by horrible bonus tracks (a terrible cover of a ZZ Top song on "Dreamhunter", & a weak live song on the end of "Pleasure Principle").

No, it's just a re-pressing of those original remasters I think. Even at loud volume in my headphones I don't hear a difference between them & the originals....

First off Treat's Dreamhunter is the best Scandi metal disc ever to hit the light of day followed by Masquerade IMO. Organized Crime is a bit different than their first three releases because it has a heavier sound, no doubt Organized Crime is brilliant but to each his own everyone has their own tastes.

 

Now for the self titled with Mats Leven I thought totally sucked I'm not a big fan of this disc at all, totally different I think they tried to the new wave sound and failed miserably at it.

 

There I said my piece.

I agree it's totally different but I guess the reason I love it is because Levin is an incredible vocalist and it was the first thing I heard from Treat.

Strangely, the two Treat CDs that I have found impossible to find are the two self titled ones.

I do actually have the best of version on cassette, but it would be nice to replace it given the chance.
