"Modern" Music to Check Out

The both sound great - Secrets and Life Awaits. I'll check out both. Jeez that Secrets band sounds familiar. I thought it was the product of Namesake disbandoning but I don't believe it is.

Nope , completely unrelated to Namesake, I'd say ignore their first album but their last two are really good , the latest one is the less heavier of the two and probably just about my favourite, but a really good band

I've been a fan of this band for a while and these new songs sound great, they are releasing a new EP in a couple of days and I assume these songs that they have released over the last few months are on it , good stuff

Really good band. They've gradually gotten better with every single release. 'Younger Dreams' from a couple of years back being their best so far. But yeah, I will definitely look forward to a new album. 'Broken Lives' is a good tune.

Yeah, definitely. Like most bands, I think they realise the screaming thing's done and dusted. The songs are clearly better without the screams. Have you heard these guys' first couple of albums? From around 2004/2005 - pretty awful. ;)

Their new album, 'Adornment' isn't perfect but I really enjoy some of what these guys do;

not too bad, didn't realize they were still putting out records.... remembering the times when you couldn't turn on radio without hearing them..

Goo Goo Dolls - Over and Over (2016)

Good song on an otherwise pretty average album. Indeed they have still been going, releasing albums every few years. Thankfully there's a few years between releases, because to be honest they haven't been great for a long time. This album sounded cool at the outset because it finally featured a slightly ballsier sound/production job.

Unfortunately, the songs just aren't that great. For the record, if you're curious, this is how I've rated their albums;

Dizzy Up The Girl - 1998 - 81%
Let Love In - 2006 - 76%
Gutterflower - 2002 - 75%
Magnetic - 2013 - 75%
Something For The Rest Of Us - 2010 - 73%
Superstar Carwash - 1993 - 72%
A Boy Named Goo - 1995 - 72%
Boxes - 2016 - 69%

I like it. I'm going to check out a heap of their discography.

Oh yes, I like that. They remind me of Quietdrive, who I love.

  • 2 weeks later...
  • 1 month later...

Two albums that have come out this year that I am enjoying quite a lot

Both have their fair share of harsh/screaming vocals which will put most off I assume but when it comes to choruses both deliver big time
