For $5:

The Hot Lies - 'Ringing in the sane'

What are you're thoughts on these guys?

Pretty sure they're from Adelaide and have got quite a good reputation. From their tracks on myspace I couldn't really get into them. If I saw it for $5 I'd probably pick it up for a listen though...

Nice find with the KK discs!

Yeah, thanks mate. Couldn't tell you how surprised I was to see the them there (the KK discs). Absolutely stoked with them, to be honest. :)

I have heard The Hot Lies album and it's pretty good. I love 'Emergency Emergency' but I think the disc dies off towards the end. I'll give it a spin in the next day or so and let you know my exact thoughts.

I'm actually pretty damn happy with the Freestate CD too. For $2 it's pretty freakin' good. Modern, but very melodic.

I blame Dan for this. I saw his scrounge report the other day and it made me miss being in a CD store so I'm giving some of my old locals a last chance before I write off buying CDs from shops completely. Yesterday it was Fairfield with only Gorky Park. Today it was:

For $2, why not:

Mat Kearney - 'Nothing left to lose' ; heard a bit in the car - sounds crap.

Freestate - 'Surrender' ; Aussie hard rock band from Victoria. Again, heard some songs in the car and this sounds good - almost like Trust Company. Great choruses.

John - Oszajca - 'From here to here' ; If I was a litterbug I'd have ripped this from my stereo and thrown it onto the road. Horrid. Dead to me. I refuse to spin it once.

Relient K - 'Apathetic EP'

For $5:

The Hot Lies - 'Ringing in the sane'

And a couple of decent pick-ups:

Axxis - 'Access all areas'

Mark Boals - 'Edge of the world'

King Kobra - 'Thrill of a lifetime' (2000 Axe Killer re-issue)

King Kobra - 'Ready To Strike' (1993/1995 JAP re-issue. No OBI, but I couldn't care less)

Pretty f*cking happy with the King Kobra discs, to be honest. Haven't found something cool like that for years... since Melbourne.

whered you find this stuff G?

After bar-hopping, we stopped at BLEEKER BOB'S and picked up these titles:

Oh my GAWD, Bleecker Bob's is still there? Dark Star and I used to hit that place ALL the time back in the day!! They used to sponsor one of my fave '80s metal/punk radio shows ("Hellhole" on WNYU-FM. Before the start of each show, the DJ would always say "Some of the music heard on Hellhole is supplied to us by Bleecker Bob's Records -- 118 West 3rd Street, in the Village."

Haven't been there in damn near 20 years. Warms the cockles of my heart to hear it's still in biz! Lord knows most of the other shops we used to haunt back in them days (It's Only Rock N Roll, Second Coming Records, Tower Records, etc.) are long gone!! :beerbang:

Millenium Records in Merrylands.

They had some Warlock, Saga and Running Wild CDs too for $5-$10. I checked HH before I bought them, though, and I think I'll give them a miss. It'd be good trade fodder and I'd get them if not for my financial situation... but maybe next time if they're still there. I'm hoping to go out to Mt Druitt maybe sometime next week.

They let us off work at 2pm today and I took full advantage, hitting up Mt Druitt and Blacktown, scoring this lot for a total of less than au$60 (again, some for as little as 50c):

The keepers:

Mad Margritt - 'In the name of rock' (I was completely all WTF!!! when I found this. Never in a million years would I have expected it)

Donots - 'Whatever happened to the 80's' EP (I had no idea this even existed - scored it for 50c)

One Republic - 'Dreaming out loud' ($4!!!)

A Static Lullaby - '...And don't forget to breath'

Angels and Airwaves - 'We don't need to whisper'

New to my trade list:

Dizzy Mizz Lizzy - 'Rotator' (1996)

Cannonjack - 'Live as you be' (obscure Aussie indie band)

1927 - '...Ish'

Allegiance - 'Destitution' (awesome Aussie Indie heavy metal band from 1994... booklet is a little "used" though)

Johnny Diesel and the Injectors - s/t (few marks on the CD but plays perfect)

Every Mother's Nightmare - s/t

Burning Tree - s/t

Guns of Fire - 2BWITHU (rare Aussie AOR indie)

Nuclear Valdez - 'Dream another dream'

Feldeen - 'Security' (obscure Aussie heavy metal CD)

Paul Janz - 'Trust'

Doubledrive - 'Blue in the face'

This is the 3rd attempt to purchase the following disc....

Toronto & Holly Woods - Assault And Flattery

My first attempt was in September and I`m still waiting for it to arrive, as the seller suggests it`s been shipped but can`t control the speed of the postal service :rofl2:

The 2nd attempt was cancelled promptly as the disc was deemed unavailable :crying:

This 3rd attempt is hopefully the one and the seller has been recommended (indirectly) by a crap football team supporting member of this community who is a good bloke :bowdown:

Went in to JB HiFi today just as the temperature hit 46.4 celcius today to pick up Thunder's Robert Johnson's Tombstone which I had on order and just as you enter the door they had a big bin full of CD's with a big sign attached "Grab yourself a bargin", so I started looking through and found a few CD's that made me think back to Jez and Faron discussing Marillion and how good they were so I took the gamble and walked out with:

All Marillion:

Seasons End {Digital Remaster + Bonus Disc}

Holidays In Eden {Digital Remaster + Bonus Disc}

Brave {Digital Remaster 2 Disc Version}

Clutching At Straws {Digital Remaster 2 Disc Version}

Misplaced Childhood {Digital Remaster 2 Disc Version}

Afraid Of Sunlight {Digital Remaster 2 Disc Version}

The Thieving Magpie (La Gazza Ladra} Double Live

All 7 of them for $53 Aussie $'s which equals 24 UK Pounds........

I think that was some mighty fine shoppin' on my behalf for that price :tumbsup:
