Are Boixos Nois & ripcord worth buying or not??

 

Ok, thrice through the Boixos Nois. Good stuff actually! Though it was released in '95 there is surprising little of the chugga-chugga groove sound. Solid power/thrash that mixes up between mid-paced stomp and heads-down thrashing. Very heavy riffage. The singer is a bit "weak" in my opinion. Sounds like he could have put more "umph" in his vocals, but it's only a small complaint.

Mat Kearney - 'Nothing left to lose' ; heard a bit in the car - sounds crap.

Freestate - 'Surrender' ; Aussie hard rock band from Victoria. Again, heard some songs in the car and this sounds good - almost like Trust Company. Great choruses.

John - Oszajca - 'From here to here' ; If I was a litterbug I'd have ripped this from my stereo and thrown it onto the road. Horrid. Dead to me. I refuse to spin it once.

Relient K - 'Apathetic EP'

Went to COMPACT DISC WORLD to wait for a friend of mine:

I picked up:

KATMANDU-KATMANDU-Yes I already have 2 copies, but I'm looking for a better copy

My friend and I went into the city To see THE ANSWER at the MERCURY LOUNGE

After bar-hopping, we stopped at BLEEKER BOB'S and picked up these titles:

After THE ANSWER played, I noticed another band got on and did an awesome set.

I went to purchase a copy of the c.d., but I couldn't find their merch table. A member of the band gave me a C.D.

That band was called AMERICAN BANG and the 5 song E.P. is called MOVE TO THE MUSIC.

It was well worth diggin' my car out of 5 inches of snow at 3 in the morning!!!

Pretty sure they're from Adelaide and have got quite a good reputation. From their tracks on myspace I couldn't really get into them. If I saw it for $5 I'd probably pick it up for a listen though...

Not so sure about this one. They have all the right intentions but just don't seem to be able to pull it off. I thought a lot of the songs were very ordinary lyrically too.
