I tried Disturbed once, vomitted and never returned.

No wonder, if you prefer the sound of X! Disturbed is SO FAR removed from X.

Actually, Disturbed's "The Game" would definitely make my Top 50 All-Time Favorite Songs, as would Rammstein's "Sehnsucht." They just flat out KICK!!!!! :banger::banger:

helmet has talent, and therefore shouldnt be included with the rest of these guys. i dont like any of the rest. throw them out with the trash.

Amen! Brother, Amen! apperantly nobody's heard Helmet, I thought everybody had, but if they had, they would have voted for them, then been pissed that they were included on this list, and if your going to include Helmet, where is Quicksand? why isn't Quicksand on here, or Orange 9mm? those are bands that should be on a list with Helmet, not fucking Nickleback, and Korn!! Jesus Christ!!!!

I have a couple Helmet CDs, and they have never appealed to me.

I've heard Helmet. Personally, I'd rather run into a brick wall with a helmet on my head than listen to them again. :)

Hmm, I went with Faith No More based off of their '89 classic "The Real Thing" and their solid follow up "Angel Dust"....but as far as talent goes, the first few Helmet releases are solid, different type of sound, but from what I know about Leykis liking his stuff heavy that makes sense, they're a talented bunch too. Although not my cup of tea but yeah Tool aren't no amateurs either, seen them live a while back cuz a buddy of mine digs them, very solid musicians even though I only dig a few of their cuts.

Wow!! Something we see eye-to-eye on, musically!! :P

Yeah! I guess all you guys are right! my bad, I was just being a selfish fucker and trying to get my way, I apologize, can you unvote on this thing?? you guys have made me see the light, Nickelback is way more talented and just all around better then Helmet could ever even think of being, I mean Helmets music just has way to busy of a arrangement, while Nickelback's music are all well arranged, and very traditional, I cant stand how in Helmets song's you can never tell what the song's going to do, or where it's going, how can anybody like that? I much rather something like Nickleback, where I can always guess right on where the song's taking me, and I don't ever have to worry about unexpected suprises while listening. Thanks Guys!

Yeah, I'm a very simple man, like TDRough said.

If these are really your tastes, dude, you really need to look into emo. Not the 'pop' emo bands that get mentioned here, but real emo. That shit has tempo/arrangement changes that'd make your Helmet twist off your scalp. Hell, Helmet are probably the original emo band for all I know. But yeah, no offence, but I hate that stuff. Not for me at all, and yeah, I would prefer predictable, reliable Nickelback (if you're into them) to Helmet.

And no offence, dude, because I like you... but making a post like that on this forum, home to arguably the safest and most predictable music styles invented (verse/bridge/chorus/2nd verse/2nd bridge/ 2nd chorus/solo/chorus out... like clockwork) - odd choice. :D

Please don't get me wrong. I don't slag bands if I haven't heard them. I've heard all these bands and being suffocated by a swarm of bumblebees appeals more to me than hearing any of them again, especially System of a Down, Tool and Radiohead. Sorry dude, these are all bands I've heard but hate with a passion of the purest nature.

I can't say that I like any of these groups either. I like a few songs by Incubus and SOD, but absolutely nothing by Tool or Radiohead.

I no what Helmet is, then why the fuck are they on a poll with Nickleback??? Im aware of the kind of music Helmet is, and it's not Even remotely close to Emo, it's that Post Alternate Grunge Rock that went the other way when grunge became trendy, and bands could no longer make it with hair metal sound, it is You Geoff that perhaps should check this genre out, I guess you could put Tool into it, but your simply seeing or not seeing my point, "but making a post like that on this forum," this forum had Helmet on the same poll as Nickelback!!! and that's the whole point ive been arguing from the first post, I just had to post it differently to get the attention, Helmet smokes every band on this poll, and they are not emo, or post emo, they don't even have progressive time changes, that was just a cynical figurative way I could make my case, that Helmet is different, Nickleback is not, therefore, why are they pitted against each other in a poll??? should I not post my distaste for the fact that Helmet was lumped in with all these trendy top 40 bands? And BTW, one of the all time heaviest, hardest, most adrenaline pumping crossover rap metal songs, was done by Helmet and House of Pain for the Judgement Night soundtrack, Just another Victim, now have you heard that Geoff???

This poll did have some interesting choices where some bands included should not even be uttered together in the same sentence....case in point, Helmet to Nickelback. Night and day as far as I am concerned, let alone Living Colour (Living Colours on the poll) or even Faith No More

 No mate, I haven't heard that song. I try to avoid rap-metal like I avoid castration.

FYI, I wasn't saying Helmet were emo at all, but the way you describe them is pretty much what emo is and I though you might like to try some of that as well. I don't know what is what under all these labels these days, to I'll leave it you. :)

Believe it or not, rap metal was good, I liked the real rap metal, Stuck Mojo, Dog Eat Dog, Muthas Day Out, the Judgement Night Soundtrack, not fucking poser wannabe rap metal like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park, and there million clones, Helmet are very hard to classify, and Geoff, are you sure youve heard them??? cause I don't know how anybody could hate them, maybe not like them, but it's hard to see how one wouldnt totally dig the heavy technical tight riffing of the band, I mean Ive heard them compared to Tool, but I don't like Tool, to me theres more to Helmet's sound, I like Quicksand, another band that could be classified in whatever genre Helmet falls into, I don't know that there were enough bands of that type sound to even distinguish it as it's own genre, but Helmet's cd Strap It On was definitly not like the rest, it was easy to classify, it's Hardcore\Punk\Thrash crossover, and I didnt like it at all.

No problem man, I know you're not a teacher, it's just an interesting mix of bands. Made me wonder what the basis was for the poll. Its a bunch of bands that definitely aren't the norm here so I figured people might have some mixed feelings about a few, that's all....and don't worry your english is just fine.

Yeah mate, I've definately heard them, a long time ago. But my tastes are much more melodic/hard rock orientated. Commercial... one might even say. I can admit talent in a band but if the songs do nothing for the band does nothing for me. I'm not saying Helmet are a bad band, they're just not a band I will ever enjoy personally.

Don't own CDs by any of these bands except 1 by Sentenced. I don't mind hearing the modern stuff every now and then at friends' houses or on the radio (which I rarely turn on) but virtually none of these would get airtime in my car or home.
