well, I'm a new member of the direct-tv family

Too funny, I just re-signed with them yesterday. We switched to cable in March and just hate it. Analog sucks once you get used to all-digital Directv. Plus I was having severe hockey withdrawal and our cable company doesn't offer NHL Center Ice (or even the NHL channel for that matter :angry2: ). They gave me a free HD DVR that can be watched on any tv in the house plus 2 additional free HD receivers plus free NFL Sunday Ticket so can't argue with that.

if you like good customer service....stay away from Directv.....we recently had to just bail on those idiots...we had a receiver that was faulty and we argued with them for 6 months...I kid you not..6 months to replace it....I have insurance that covers that kind of thing but they would not approve the switch blaming everything from my tv, to sunspots to voodoo to who knows what...finally when I said the words...DISH NETWORK they replaced it....but when they did they they neglected to list the reason for the switch correctly...so they listed it as a upgrade instead of a replacement of faulty equipment...the final straw was they took away our local hd channels...then we switched as our contract was up...

or so it seemed...when I tried to cancel they told me I could not because I was still under contract....I tried to explain to them that I couldn't be unless I had a 7 year contract...but they finally checked and seen the notes and seen it was listed incorrectly...so I cancelled...

but then...(yes there is more) they took cash out of my account due to a early cancellation fee...had to fight with them for 10 days and finally got the $400 back...so I guess what I am saying is, don't go with Directv, save your time and just throw the money in the gutter.....

I'll make it simple... ALL of 'em SUCK!

I've been a DirecTV subscriber for 14 years now... never had a late payment, never had any major issues, BUT, people who have never paid them a single damn penny are getting NFL Sunday Ticket for FREE??? You know what they offered me when I asked about getting it for free, or at least a substantial discount? $5.00 off. Fuck them.

Problem is, my main alternative, Charter Cable, also sucks big veiny Ron Jeremy cock. I grew up with Charter, and had them as my cable tv provider when I first moved out on my own, and their service went out CONSTANTLY. Everything from thunderstorms, sunspots, and squirrels (yes, squirrels) would fuck up their picture or knock it out completely. Never again.

And as for Dish TV, I've got several friends who either currently have Dish, or used to have Dish, and all of them have said that their customer service is non existent, and that they would not recommend them to anyone. No thanks.

So, again, they all SUCK.

Tell you what, just call them to cancel your service. Tell them you are getting a better deal through your cable company. They will have your bill cut in half in a matter of minutes! When I called to cancel in March they had my bill sliced from $100/month down to $65 just to try and keep me as a customer. But I had already set up an install w/the cable company and figured I'd keep it. Oh well, 5 months later I am getting brand new (and better equipment, for free) than I had w/Directv when I cancelled. Plus got the Sunday Ticket. It wouldn't hurt to at least give them the false threat of leaving.

C FUCKING BAND ALL THE WAY!! GET ALL THE GOOD LITTLE GADGETS, AND YOU HAVE LITERALLY ANY AND EVERY SATELLITE SIGNAL AVAILABLE TO ANYBODY ON EARTH, DISH OR DIRECT, AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN! DUDE YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT GO WRONG WITH C-BAND, TRUST ME! But if you gotta pick one of the far less superior 2, if you like sports, Direct is the only way to go, outside of that, i don't really know to many differences in the channels available as i am pretty sure they offer almost identical channel listings, your not going to find to many differences in the channels available outside of getting the direct ticket, and the MLB and NBA packages on Direct! I think maybe Dish may have more Porn channels? JUST GET A FUCKING C-BAND AND THE DECIPHERS AND DE SCRAMBLERS! THEN YOU DECIDE WHAT YOU HAVE!!
