My vote is for Saints and Sinners. Great album! Fav song from it is "Dance Little Sister" and fav song from the S/T is "Triple X". I just picked up the S/T reissue recently, I forgot how good that one is as well. I have never heard (or even heard of) Phoenix Down.

OK, there's little point in talking about 'Saints n Sinners' as everyone knows that album is awesome, with every track as good as the last so it's impossible to decide what is better..........would be like trying decide on your favourite porn star. Pointless, you just sit back and enjoy them all :-))))

Now I do need say to say a few things about the debut.

Firstly if 'Rock Doll' is the best song, Im a monkey's uncle????

What about the three bona fide gems 'Too Much For Anyone To Touch', 'Woman On The Edge Of Love' and 'A Strong Arm Needs A Strong Heart' which all match most songs on sns IMO.....obviously slightly cheesier (but still great).

Then you have 'If This Is Heaven' which is a great ballad.

And finally a big shout to 'Triple X' which is lyrically ludicrous, but still a real trip and also I just have to mention 'Full Pull'.......testosterone laden garbage, but doesnt stop me lovin the song. What other song could include the words 'gut wrenching, back busting, fist clenching, ball crushing....' and get away with it ;-))

Marvellous stuff.

I can't believe I've never responded to this one. Album is easily Saints And Sinners. Fighter...is the best track by a mile, although the entire album is excellent.

Wow, that is a MASSIVE statement. Almost as massive as the stunned silence at you not mentioning 'Tears of fire' (and the mention of 'If this is heaven'!). ;)

I'm full of massive statements mate ;-)

A gem is a gem.

Love tears of fire too - there are a few evil fillers on the debut as well but overall it's a great album

I agree they're great songs. Just a bit too happy/poppy and awfully lyriced to compete with 'Saints and sinners' in my honest opinion. Still great tunes, though. Except 'If this is heaven;' I honestly can't even think of how that song goes.

Actually I listened to it last night and still think those three are great. Obviously the production is miles better on SnS but if those songs were re-recorded with a big beefy sound they'd be close.

If this is heaven is very good too IMO.

Just for clarification, SnS would be circa 95% and debut 75%

This isn't even an argument, Saints & Sinners demolishes that debut, Too Far Gone is my favorite song, though I have a very hard time finding any of the songs on S&S that I do not like, Triple X and Rock Doll are about all I can stand off the first disc.

I eventually picked up a copy of Saints And Sinners, man I'm glad I did. It's consistently in my player, his self titled not so much. Fighter is one of my all time favorite songs.

Had the tape back in the day, just upgraded to a used cd.

I was just reading this thread and looking at the results and I am pretty much in the same mind here.

How the hell is Rock doll considered so great when songs like Too much and Tears of fire are barely even voted for?

They were the songs that kinda showed the way that his sound was going, where as songs like Rock doll & Full Pull were all part of the "gimmick" that was early Kane Roberts.

I dont hate Rock doll, in fact I like it, but it makes me sad that true gems like Too much are considered less than Rock doll.
