i hadnt been to a non-symphonic concert since '99 (and that was outdoors). this was a pretty small place with decent accoustics so it wasnt all so loud to muddle everything. i think maybe only 20-25 rows of seats between the stage and the back isle where the bars were. i think the most alarming thing is seeing your high school heroes aging. (2nd was the 55 year old dude in the audience with a jack-russel/great white mullet and his peggy bundy wife) the bands KNOW youre only there to hear their old stuff, and that their new music isnt going to grab you emotionally and connect like it did when you're a teenager. our minds dont work that way.

So we saw Warrant & Skid Row last friday at the wild horse pass casino. yes they played mostly old stuff, but when neither of them has the original singer, and youre having a hell of a time even identifying the original band members because they look so different, its almost depressing. The last time i saw a warrant was 1992, and 1989 for skid row, so i'd think i'd like to just remember them the way they were. i just kept thinking ' i hope that 250lb joey allen doesnt get on anyone's shoulders during the solo'

i used to love every month at fedex there would be a video (vhs tapes even in 2009) that the company would send out and all couriers would have to watch. the same big-wigs would be caked in make-up in the videos. I used to call it fed-excrement when i worked there (2004-2009), and Kinko' was Stinko's seriously though,, continuously put in applications at fedex, UPS, and the post office.. all of them start at way higher wages tham walmart would ever pay. if my own business hadnt grown to consume 50-60 hours a week from me, i'd still be driving for fedex.

while walmart may create job NUMBERS,, each of those employees is stuck in an income level where they must rely on government housing and food assistance. so in essence it ends up costing those states money,, and of course, any time walmart builds a store, they will heavyhandedly force some sort of tax deal with the mayor and city council that saves them millions (sometimes even letting them KEEP up to half of the sales tax collected). this type of bargaining power could never be leveraged by a small business.
