Laserdiscs can suffer a simular fate called supprisingly laser rot. It's the laminate layer separating from the disc. Some cd's were affected due to them reacting with the case inlay.

A fine choice, how do you like their later releases? Gamma Ray - Powerplant <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've only got their S/T so can't comment on their other stuff.
