  1. Agreed...he is top five of the entire genre in my book. Very strong voice and if you look at their live stuff on YouTube, it sounds the same. Major talent!
  2. Can't agree with the Bonfire patchy comment but I will say, releases today are mostly ridiculous and it's why I just play the old stuff. Can't miss there and I have a ton to choose from
  3. That is like saying humans breath and breasts are nice. Breasts are nice but asses are better
  4. The Illusion albums could have been cut down to one pretty killer disc. Way too much garbage on both discs. Two CDs out and they rack up 14 million sales, one CD out probably only 8-9 million copies so there's a big difference there, and apparently, there's also a cut-down version of these albums which was released later, the cover was divided in half, and that only means more sales What really counts is whether or not it stands the test of time...not the sales during that time period. How many Billy Cirus CD's sold of his first release? But would you or anyone else who bought it listen to it now? Bad example I know genre wise but you get the point.
  5. They will never top AFD though I love Lies and Chinese Democracy. The Illusion albums were crammed with so much filler. I never listen to them. I actually really liked Spaghetti Incident too.
  6. If Rory (Roy?) is still auditioning for terrible, terrible bands like this, why has he not done anything else since the Cold Sweat release? There was one shitty band somewhere inbetween, wasn't there, but what's his story? As for what happens with this band, isn't it insignificant to everyone? Does anyone actually like these guys? Just quit, everyone in the band. Roy has a new band called THE FIFTH. Check 'em out here: https://www.facebook.com/thefifthmusic https://youtu.be/dOhR-adPgiE I am always interested when Jake E. Lee is involved. The Fifth has been around for 10-12 years and (sorry Rory) they are fucking terrible. RDC would have been much better with him for sure.
  7. Good song!!! Great song, great album! Especially track #3
  8. And Andy Reid catches crap lol....Chip has lost his fucking mind. And we have Maclin now, very excited about this!
  9. So does that mean you hate the sound of every other well produced hard rock CD too? Because I can't tell the difference... Nope, only albums where the cymbals distort because of terrible mixing/production
  10. If you can find a single other person on the planet to agree with that first statement, I will transfer ownership of my home into your name. Sorry mate, I know use the opinion card all the time, but even the guys in the band would tell you straight out that those songs were 100% inferior to 'Point Blank.' The bird outside your window - yep, that one. You see him. He could tell you that. I truly don't know what you're hearing, but then again, isn't there some ridiculous thread where you're single-handedly saying the production on Trixter's 'Hear' is garbage when every single other person is advising you that it's not... because it's just not. No amount of "imo"s can change a fact sometimes. I dunno mate. I know you go after all these Jap releases, so I assume you have some horrible alien version of 'Hear!' in your collection, as well as some phantom edition of 'Knock out' that no one else in the world got. As for 'Free,' it's not a complete trainwreck. It is probably the most well produced Bonfire album, but when the songs are shit that counts for shit. It's not that you don't mind the album that I can't understand. It's just the fact that you rate it 4th in their entire discography which I cannot comprehend. There's just no way it's on par with the majority of their discography... imo, of course. I will just respond with I disagree And yes, I still hate the sound of Hear. Always have, always will.
  11. Easily Love Machine for me as the other two are too light for my tastes. LM was perfect imo and I wish they had squeezed out another release after it.
  12. 100% agree. Well, not with the score. I think I gave it 9.5, but apples with apples. I think it's a magnificent song, and I agree - by far the best inspiro rocker ever. That song alone makes me really, really scratch my head about Bonfire's 2nd part of their discography. There are some HORRID songs talking about clapping for Germany and raising hands for Germany and not feeding animals and stuff. They just turned into the corniest, most horribly lyricized (you know it's a word) band ever. What happened? Aren't you meant to get wiser with old age? But huge respect to the band for making 'Never surrender' such a killer song without getting corny. And Jarred, your bottom 3 is outrageous. Well, the entire post is, to be honest, but 'Youth patrol' and 'Freedom is my belief' in the bottom 3? On paper both do look silly, I admit it. But as songs, both are brilliant, imo. 'Youth patrol' has about the biggest chorus on the entire disc. As for having having 'Free' at 4th spot in their discography. My tip? Instead of typing "4. Free" you should just have written, "please do not take anything in the post seriously as I am speaking nonsense." Then again, in all honesty, placing 'Knock out' above 'Point Blank' is probably even better proof of that. To each their own, but I don't think one single other person on this entire planet would agree with you on that, and it's for very, very good reason. The songs on Knock Out are better and the album overall with less songs is better. The guitars are outstanding on that album as well. The biggest crime they committed on that album was making the Stroke their first single. Not a terrible cover but not a single of any kind imo. As for PB, yeah they will always be my bottom three because they are a bit corny today and don't hold up well for me. Again, just my opinion. Free, I don't understand why people dislike it so much. Production is top notch and some very catchy songs. I have always been a fan of it but then again, I like a curve ball every once in a while.
  13. Sounds very blah and watered down. Even boring...the last two cd's were awesome but not feeling the clips on this one.
  14. Not to stray even further from the original purpose of this thread but regarding LZ, I could fit everything I like on one best of cd. I respect them, love their sound (drums especially) but will never be a huge fan either. Now, carry on about how fucking bad this LA Guns albums is going to be since their last good album came out in 1994.
  15. Ok I need to first rank their albums because my list will be different I'm sure. 1. Fireworks (There is not even a close 2nd) 2. Knock Out 3. Point Blank 4. Free 5. Rebel Soul 6. Strike X 7. Fuel To the Flames 8. Double X 9. Feels Like Coming Home 10. Don't Touch the Light 11. The Rauber 12. Branded As for Point Blank, love the album. I understand the production issue as it is not bad by any means but not as clear as their later releases. I have to say the biggest mistake, huge mistake with the album is they did not include Sword & Stone, arguable their best song EVER. Not to mention, had the whole album had that sound & production it would have given Fireworks a run for number one. My bottom 3 songs for PB are fairly easy and assuming we are not including the ridiculous instrumentals. 1. Youth Patrol 2. Gimme Some 3. Freedom Is My Belief. Had these been left off the album would have been shorter (not a bad thing here). They strike me as table scraps that would be used on a "re-issue" 20 years later to make it cool but not a great idea for the original release. I love "Bang Down the Door", "Look of Love", "Price of Loving You", "Never Surrender" etc. A great album indeed but not their best.
  16. I'm surprised you guys don't like these songs. There are a couple that are way worse. Who's Foolin' Who was released as a single I believe.
  17. Ah those crazy Christians...who does she think she is? Stryper?
  18. I have to disagree. Sometimes bands do these projects as much for themselves as they do for the fans. It's not to say they haven't got a good original album left in them, maybe this means a lot to DC. Much like the upcoming LA Guns blues thingy album...I despise the idea and so do a lot of fans but it has a lot of meaning for the band. And as for this WS Purple album, as stated by Mullethead, if that video is anything to go by, these will be some great covers. Well one or two examples are not enough to counter the fact that there're too many bands releasing cover albums just simply because they can't write good songs anymore. I think Stryper, and probably Tesla, still doin a pretty good job after covers but the rest of them are not. Take a look at these fun facts : GNR cover of 'Spaghetti Incident' in 1993 ended their career and a new album is done after 15 years and you know how many hate it (although I didn't ) Trixter - Undercover in 1994 and they need 18 years to make a decent comeback, only to find some people think it's too average compared to their debut Kevin Chalfant - Fly 2 Freedom in 2007 and unable to make anything until today Aerosmith's 'Nine Lives' was out in 1997, they're unable to make anything except compilation until they have to release a blues cover of 'Honkin' in 2004 and after that it went downhill until today. The last album didn't help, probably 3-4 good songs and that's all, and count how many live and compilation they released ? Bryan Adams' 'On A Day Like Today' in 1998 is quite okay but he's practically unable to make anything great anymore because the next 2 albums in 8 years were weak until cover album was made in 2014. So, a 16 years of career without a good album and will Adams do a spectacular comeback in the next 5 years? don't think so, he'll only be doin greatest hits concert and acoustic stuffs Def Leppard's 'X' was out in 02 and after 4 years of silence, they released the cover album 'Yeah!' and release a poor album after that and nothing's new except compilation and live album Poison last cover album is out in 2007 and after that they're unable to make anything except compilation Enuff Z'nuff's last good album is Paraphernalia in 1999 and everything went downhill after that and their career was doomed with a poor cover of 'Covered In Gold' in 2014 Warrant released a cover album in 01 after the awful Belly To Belly 5 years before, only to find them in a weak comeback of 'Born Again' 4 years later and a good bounce back only happening 5 years later in 'Rockaholic' although it's quite far from their peak. Safe to say that Warrant is over too and so on Some of the cd's you mention I actually like. I will listen to the Incident cd over Illusions any day of the week.
  19. Agreed! WS play Burn better than Deep Purple. No doubt about that IMO. Mr. Big, Demon Drive...all better. Ah yeah I remember the Demon Drive version too....love that one. That whole album was amazing...love it!
