  1. Hey, Jared!

I appreciate the concern, but I'm doing well! While we've had an inordinate amount of rain in the Houston area, we have not had the severe weather/tornadoes that have hit some parts of the state. I have projects up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that have been impacted by adverse weather since Thanksgiving! But, no......we're all good down here!

    Keep rockin'!!

Excellent, good to hear. I will pass the info along.

  2. It's funny...because I wouldn't be too upset if someone were to 'support' Butch....that probably means he may help write, etc...but not tour or do gigs. But....as soon as Jared said Jesse's voice isn't up to par, well than that made me go.......nooooooooooooooo......his voice was so distinct to their sound, it would piss me off if they couldn't pull that off.

And just my opinion of course based on what I heard from the band he was trying to do in the last few years. It did not sound good to me. Did we really expect it to age well though?

Can't wait to hear about the gun fights at the theater while attending this movie. Better hire extra security movie theater owners.

Nah! your forgetting that it aint niggas that shoot theaters up is it?? think about it, who really has been doing the bulk or all of the movie theater shootings?? it aint the blacks.

Exactly. If any theatres do get shot up during this show, it'll be a white man.

Nah.... you can't have a theater full of black thugs and not have gunfire. We just eclipsed 200 murders in Baltimore this year so far, and 95% of them are blacks shooting blacks.

With your undying love for Cauterize or Papa Roach, I'm shocked Shinedown isn't to your liking. They aren't the same, but all of the above are great melodic modern rock. The vocalist has to be one of the top 5 singers in modern rock. Despite not freakin' over the lead off single, I'm surely gonna get this one.

I've gone into it in great depth in many threads if you can find them, but the general gist of the whole thing is that yes, I love a lot of modern rock bands but to me these guys are very, very middle of the road and I think there are hundreds of better modern rock bands than them. Yes, they're okay, but it's kinda like those people who think Bon Jovi are the only good melodic rock band out there. There are hundreds of better bands than Shinedown, imo of course, yet people seem to think they're the beginning and end of the modern rock world.

I find myself not surprised we disagree but really? Middle of the road? They may be the best in the genre of this kind of music. Way better than the other two bands mentioned.

And that's the type of reply I'd expect from everyone who's only knowledge of modern rock is basically Shinedown and that's it. And that's what I mean by the Bon Jovi reply.

If you heard the amount of modern rock bands I like to enjoy, you'd realise pretty quick that Shinedown are nothing special at all. The fact that you guys are comparing them to Cauterize or Papa Roach pretty much says it all. That's not far off comparing Pantera to Pretty Boy Floyd in terms of how similar they are. Yeah, they're all rock bands but that's about the end of the similarities. ;)

I'd be interested to see a list of all the bands they are supposedly better than in "the genre of this kind of music."

I know enough about modern rock to know most of it sucks, other than Shinedown. I never used the above compared bands. I actually think Papa Roach is fairly decent but as I mentioned before, I wouldn't piss on Cauterize if they were on fire along with many more modern bands.

And that's basically what I mean. I'd be interested to know how many good modern rock bands you've actually heard to make such a summation. Not that I think Cauterize would be your thing, but I'm guessing you've probably heard about a minute sample somewhere once and made your decision about them... as with most your modern rock assessments, I'm guessing. ;)

Nope, I downloaded an album you were raving about several years back and made it through four songs. Then I thanked God I didn't actually spend money on it ;)

  5. I have seen this post as well and read all the replies from it. The deal is more than likely this would be Jess and three new guys. Hoping for some sort of small money that may be tied to the name for all of us that loved the band before. The sad fact is his voice..well, it's bad these days. And I can bet you any amount of money Butch wants zero to do with this.

  8. Last Saturday I've seen them. Remember + Fallin' Outta Love slayed! He has that blues/gospel timbre that makes these tracks great live, especially on the choruses, when David and the band are on their peak!

The Mojito of the club was also great (with Havana Club not Baccardi!). I drunk a gallon (half of which during Remember).

I would have to drink at least that much to get through a concert with Reece singing.

The thing is, Bon Jovi as a business probably want to keep up with the ongoing changes in music styles to stay relevant, otherwise there would come a time where the mainstream press considers them dated and old-school.

It's us fans of their original style that are moaning about the changes. Some of us don't like the modern sound, and some do. I guess we don't know the numbers and revenues involved in these preferences. Plus, ticket sales will make them far more money than album sales, so even if their older fans don't like their new material, the band would still be playing some of their old favourites at their gigs to keep them happy year after year. And any of the more modern "processed" sounds on record could still sound more organic when played live.

I'm sure Jon won't be losing any sleep over the fact that I'm probably never going to buy another Bon Jovi album - what irritates me is that he seems to be turning his back on the people who made him and his band a success in the first place. It would be idiotic to suggest that he should be penning material that sounds like it came from the late 80s but, equally, it has to be acknowledged that there are plenty of bands out there who are managing to keep both old AND new fans happy by maintaining links to their past without sounding dated.

What bands exactly? Are you talking about small niche bands in our tiny genre?

BJ are still a worldwide phenomenon, with 99% of their fans loving everything they do, including recent albums.

For example - in my office there are loads of BJ fans (all of which have never heard of nor are interested in any of the bands that I listen to) -

    Facts -

    1. None of them own the debut or 7800F

    2. Most of the older ones got into BJ when SWW was released

    3. 99% of BJ fans are like the guys in my office

    4. 99% of fans are happy with BJs change in direction / sound and think its the best thing since sliced bread and harp on about what a wonderful diverse artist he is

    5. 99% of BJ fans only listen to the music and couldnt really give a stuff who's on guitar..........as long as it sound alright.

    6. 99% of BJ fans think BJ is the band

    Capiche??

I had to laugh at this a little brother...you have a strange office :)

  10.

    "Contractual Obligation."

What a complete prick this guy has turned out to be. Almost sorry I ever considered myself a fan.

Bon Jovi will never win really,do more of what they did in the 80s and they're just rehashing old music to sell out, move with the times and they're selling out too.

I disagree. There are many bands out there who have updated their sound without losing what makes them "them". Example Tesla. But either way, it shouldn't matter when you are as big as BJ is. Do the thousands of people that come to see Kiss, AC/DC, Motley Crue etc. call them dated acts? How about Poison?

The fact is most of the people that listen to BJ or any of the people I mentioned aren't buying the new stuff to begin with because they want to hear the hits. Putting out terrible album after terrible album though isn't ever going to change that.

  11.

However, if this song (and/or style) was by someone else other than Bon Jovi (e.g. a new band), would it be getting more appreciation? Or is it still pretty crap within the context of the current "modern" sounding bands of today?

That's exactly the way I look at it and is why I made my initial comments as I did on the song. It's just a good solid modern rock song; BJ or not.

The problem is that fans expect more...or at least they use to. I think now the majority of us just expect everything they release to be crap.

  12.

Never been a big fan. Turned me off when Jon Bon Dickhead said he would never again do the style that made them successful. Another John Waite..... hates the discs that made them a household name. Bon Jovi really hasn't been Bon Jovi since KTF.

    Fuck you Jon.

If this was July 22, 1987 you and I would be in the middle of the street, fighting.

    But it's July 22, 2015, and I couldn't agree more.

Yeah Bon Jovi has been dead since KTF for me as well...

well that's a shame since 'These Days' is really an awesome album

Yes exactly, it's a very good album. Not as good as KTF in my opinion but very solid. Their last one unfortunately...

  13.

I know the Badlands are out of print for a while now :(

Funny you should mention Badlands, as it was those two albums that I noticed missing from their website, and which prompted me to start this thread.

Yeah, if they are able it would be smart to run another pressing. I can't say enough good things about those two titles. Outstanding releases...

  14. haha in Bon Jovi world, every leftovers can be used to farm some cash, remember 100 million bon jovi boxset ? they grab plenty of leftovers to build up to 4 CDs :D

Yeah but those were mostly left overs from GOOD albums. The last two BJ albums were shit and now we get to enjoy the worst of those? Not interested...

  15.

Apparently the new album coning out is all previously recorded material and HAVE HAD SAMBORA'S GUITAR PARTS REMOVED and replaced.

What a load of fkn shit that is!

That album is due very soon, with a completely new album in the works for next year.

Wow, really? What era are we talking about... when these songs were originally recorded? I assume they're all recent recordings, obviously?

Cool news about the new album next year too.

All leftovers from the last two albums minus the two new songs.
