  1. I see this argument from 2 points of view.... For its time, for an album that burst onto the scene and that in essence revived a whole genre.... Rest In Sleaze was groundbreaking, and would hence get my vote from that angle. For completeness and consistency I would probably say Generation Wild.
  2. To someone yes. Wig Wam to me? No. Neither are imo. You spelt EMO wrong
  3. any idea where to get it? I think i encded up getting a copy by trading with Al for a 'Gavin Wanganneen' final game newspaper banner.
  4. I believe Al is too busy these days posting pictures of his meat (not in a Phil Varone way) and sharing pictures of Joey Tempest on facebook to record again. The Crazy EP has always been a classic. The 2nd disc.... at first i thought 'WTF is this!?!!?' , but after the shock of something completely different I did actually grow to like the disc. I couple of great songs on there, but nothing comparable to the glory days when I'd travel from Adelaide to see Teargas, Hell City Glamours, Deadthings and maybe even Sebasrockets all sharing the same stage for an evening. huh... those were the days
  5. looking at over $220 for return flights from adeladie that weekend. Is there something happening in melbourne? School holidays, some other event? WTF ever happened for $59 dollar flights and all that shit?
  6. Yeah, I've seen them twice now (once at Soundwave and once on tour) and it has been very affordable. Even as a massive fan of the band, that's way, way too much for me. Not to get into this discussion again, but how exactly have a band like, let's say Crashdiet, for example, been telling more jokes, or stating more truths (if that's their thing) than Steel Panther? Steel Panther swear and sing about crude things... but how has that got any less lifespan than the 48 trillion relationship songs we all listen to day in day out? Or songs about sleaze in the streets or whatever? Put it into context, peoples... If anything, their different take on things is a gigantic breath of fresh air. It definitely is to me. Because Crashdiet (or whoever else) don't have 1 album with 12 songs about relationships, let alone 5 albums with 12 songs with each and every one being about relationships. That is why I find steel panther get boring, because every song on every album is based on a similar topic. The music might be good but that is not their selling point, their selling point is their lyrics. It's like they are releasing 'concept' albums... With the concept being sex, and every album having the same 'concept'. If they were writing 'serious' tunes they would be playing to 50 people a night like other hard rock bands. I would love to see them release a serious tune under and alias and see how it goes.
  7. I passed at the steel panther bit. You know how you have that 1 mate who tells you the same joke every time you see them.... Yeah, that's steel panther.
  8. There a a few songs that get to me these days. To be honest I cannot think of what they are just now, but whenever I hear them they take me back to some dark days when my son was in hospital. The daily commute to and from the hospital always meant some song would come on that had some sort of poignant meaning that always rears its head when it comes on again. My wife also cannot listen to the pearl jam song 'last kiss' as a group of her closest friends were involved in an incident similar to that described in the song... A bunch of kids walking home from a party and got mowed down by a drunk driver who swerved off the road, resulting in the death of one of her friends
  9. What the hell happened at their last gig? Saw them Apologising for what happened but they didn't say what actually happened ....
  10. Good band to see live as well. Comes overs a bit rehearsed and contrived at times, but they put on a big rock show nonetheless.
  11. I was having the artist payment discussion with someone recently, and I gave the example of: when you go and look at a painting in an art gallery, does the artist earn any money for each view? when you borrow a book from the library, does the author earn any money for each page read? when you look at a photographers photo in a magazine, does he earn money for each view? They all received an initial outlay / purchase price for the 'artwork' and then its basically out of their hands. Do you think maybe musicians need to go along the same lines of all these other artists and possibly charge the initial distributor or holder of the "art work" for an initial fee and not actually be concerned with the down-the-line costs and charges?
  12. Some pix I took of them: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.873910422719283.1073741851.348565138587150&type=3
  13. Generally not, but I stumbled upon them live once (opening up for some other bands, with about 4 people watching) and they were fantastic, so have kept an ear open for them ever since. They are one of those bands that are far more impressive as a live act, than studio.
  14. Is there actually a single positive comment in this entire thread? I thought everyone has been hating this one since day one? This from some bloke named geoff: "Not bad; pretty solid." And from DLC: "Damn, well how bout that!! The guy has a seriously good voice though can't argue with that" And JPL: "I liked that tune......good stuff!" H&H: "I have high hopes for this." Deuce: "I like both songs and I think that this is a band to look forward to." Not sure where i got the idea from
  15. exceptional live band if you get the chance to see them!
  16. Have pre-rdered the Motley coloured vinyl reissued (1st five albums) Simply becasue i dont have a lot of their stuff on vinyl strangely enough.
  17. I thought I was the only one a little underwhelmed by these guys, but seems like you've all caught on
  18. Walmart messing with your head again Jacob...!?!!? Vain are not horrible. And Lancia.... I'm glad I only brought the russian version of this album becasue had I paid full price for the legit version I would have been very disappointed at paying that much for a cd with only really 2 great songs, and a hell of a lot of filler.
  19. I'm I the only one that thinks this sounds promising? Some straight forward hard rock. Teaser1 especially
