  1. My favourites from that list are Baton Rouge - Desperate Damn Yankees- High enough Kiss - Reason to live Winger - Miles away I love these kinda power rock ballads. Today's modern radio songs do not have as much soul as these old true tunes and I wasn't even alive yet in the 80's (born in 1999). I guess my favourite rock ballad is Thunder's 'Love walked in'. But there are a few current bands who can bring back that old vibe (Wig Wam, The Poodles (sadly not current anymore), Kissin' Dynamite have very strong ballads) I just wrote and recorded an 80's inspired rock ballad for my uncle, who surprisingly passed away a few years ago. He was always a special person to me so I wanted to dedicate this song to him. I don't know if I'm allowed to show it to you in this thread, so if I'm not, delete it or overread it. It's not professionally produced but I put a lot of work, time, heart and soul into, so I'd like to share it with you.
  2. I just wrote and recorded an 80's inspired rock ballad with a very personal meaning... production isn't professional and you can hear that but it was a lot of work and I put a lot of energy and heart into it. I'd be grateful for some feedback if you'd like. Video isn't professional, too but I just wanted to share some of my childhood memories connected to my uncle (who this song is dedicated to).
  3. Strong album again but with less surprises than on their last albums. The songs sound a little bit samey somehow. I think the second half is much better than the first half. And one thing I noticed, everybody says Björn's voice gets better with each album. I think there is more post-production on the newer albums compared to Amber Galactic for example. He doesn't have a great singing technique as far as I can judge and I think his voice starts to get thinner.
  4. New single "believe me" from "Superflytrap", one of the seven albums in Lordiversity.
  5. New single out this evening 8pm cet via AFM Records. It'll probably be from the 70's disco album
  6. Big CL fan, too since New Religion. The new song isn't their best one but I really like the direction they seem to go with that album. A bit heavier, more of a summer party than a night drive.
  7. Has anybody with Itunes Australia dared to listen to the samples yet? I'm still at work but can't wait.
  8. I don't like his songwriting at all. It wants to be melodic and catchy but I can't remember one chorus though they all sound the same. Not hooky at all, just very forced. And I am annoyed that in every frontiers press release Serafino Perugino is mentioned. No other label mentions it's president that often.
  9. Love them, too. The genre is usually not my cup of tea - too modern, too radio-like. But they can deliver so many emotions and always have great melodies. The Maine is probably one of my top10, if not top 5 bands. The thing is that when the time passes after they released an album I kinda forget their strength. I just remember "last album was good" and then there's a new album and I wonder "has the last album been as good as the new one?" and then I get back to their older albums and find out that they are all great. I ordered the new album but delivery to Germany seems difficult... or the german release date has changed...
  10. I'm not that happy with the three singles from the new album... feels a bit forced by now. And I hope there will be more choirs in the other songs. The explosions in the choruses are missing yet
  11. Listened to the Itunes samples. Loved their last album but this one doesn't get me excited. The choruses seem too repetitive and pretty samey and the music sounds pretty much as in any other martensson song but pretty underwhelming. This is my first impression, don't know if there will be a second. Oh, I really liked the first single by the way.
  12. I listened to the Itunes samples and I think, yes this vocal distortion is only in that song. My first impression was that the voice is very clean in that mix. The samples give me mixed feelings... On every Vega album there are songs that I love and songs that I really don't like. Last album was my favourite yet. This time these two categories might be a bit too much in balance. more modern with each album, bit darker, which I don't like, I think. There are "bring the riot", "Ain't who I am", "kneel to you" and "c'mon" on the really promising side and "beautiful lie", "welcome to wherever", "live for me" and "2die4" on the not so promising side. I guess I wanna buy the album this time because every Vega album grew on me after a few spins.
  13. That was the first thing I thought when I listened to the Itunes samples. Didn't get the feeling of the last album, yet. Not a big fan of the new singer. And I think it's a bit unauthentic to produce a video with the photo album full of old memories when the new singer just joined...
  14. Sadly at a certain age people lose their voice if they didn't use it correctly. Jon Bon Jovi Bobby Kimball Paul Stanley But there are singers who just can't sing as well. Diddi Kastenholt (Bai Bang) (can't hit the notes) Pekka Heino (Brother Firetribe) (watching him sing makes my throat hurt because of his technique- I give him 2 or 3 more years until his voice is completely gone)
  15. Lordi is my favourite band since 2012. What all of their albums have in common is that I think they are bad when I listen to them for the first time. After a few more runs every album grew on me. I share your opinion about their consistency. Curious if they can keep that level with around 60 new songs.
  16. Their last album (Killection) was a fictional best-of from the albums they would have released if they already had existed in the 70's. In October they release 7 of those back-catalogue albums with 8 or 9 new songs each and the song that 'ended up' on Killection. They are gonna release: A 70's rock'n'roll album A 70's disco album An 80's progressive rock album An 80's glam metal album An 80's AOR, melodic rock album A 90's (Thrash) metal album A 90's industrial album What do you think?
  17. Just in case anybody is interested in this kind of amateurish songs. I wrote and recorded a new song. I'm a shitty producer so the sound is not really as I wish it would be. Some of my biggest influences are The Sweet and Wig Wam (so glad they're back), Kiss, Lordi, Crazy Lixx.... I'm happy about any kind of feedback by the way. Here it is:
  18. I was hoping that Love Magnusson would write the songs instead of Alexander Strandell (By the way, why isn't he on the band pic?) I just don't like Mr.Strandell's hyper modern songwriting that much. The first Art Nation album was great 80's melodic hard rock but then they started to mix it up with symphonic elements, the typical loud noisy modern metal sound, modern pop elements and that's not my cup of tea. The song sounds fine to me but wouldn't buy it...
  19. Could somebody post a link to the Itunes samples? Don't work for me...
  20. Sounds exactly like H.e.a.t even the songwriting and the voice but as I love H.e.a.t that's not a bad thing to me
  21. Don't wanna search through over a thousand songs in that list but some of my favourite power ballads are: Damn Yankees: Silence is broken, where you going now, high enough Night ranger: Time of our lives Thunder: Love walked in Wig Wam: At the end of the day H.e.a.t: laughing at tomorrow (if that still counts as a ballad) Unruly child: to be your everything Bai Bang: Only the best die young (the best of four version), you should not listen to a live version because that singer is awful
  22. Can somebody please explain the connection between this and BaiBang? How comes Bai Bang used these songs? I like the last 3 or 4 Bai Bang albums, except for the production (and the voice maybe...) but these are all original songs, aren't they?
  23. What I like about this album: There are a lot of songs, so there's variety though they are not too far away from each other. The songs are pretty compact but they got everything they need. The vocals are great. Love all those key changes. What I don't like about this album: Song no. 2. Pretty cool surprise...
