  1. How long has this transitional period been so far?
  2. I did take a look, it's fun to read people's comments on albums and can help me decide whether to listen/buy it or not I guess. On the down side, I wonder if I read all negative comments would it mean I'd avoid something which actually I would have liked if I'd given it a chance
  3. haha, lead vocals I think not - my voice is too weak for that unfortunately. It was definitely fun recording it. I practiced a bit of synth playing beforehand to try and look convincing as I'm a pianist really which I didn't realise is played completely differently to a synth - it was a good job Kostas warned me. Wish I'd practiced in front of a mirror too - as recommended - so I wasn't quite so 'bouncy' but overall I think it turned out really well. Chris on vocals did an awesome job - there were no shots of him that would have been unusable. If you ever get the chance to be in a music video I can definitely recommend it even if it wasn't something that was gonna be released
  4. Wow, that must take ages to do. I'm assuming it has to be in real time? Good way to get you listening to them again though.
  5. Wow, there's a nice range of bands there, quite a few I'd like to see too
  6. Ah, I like people agreeing with me, great minds and all that
  7. O my, you competing with Geoff for meanness?
  8. Must admit I wasn't fully aware of the main site. I'll check it out when I get a minute. I've never posted on there, I guess because I figure the main site will be more of a reviewers thing and the forum will be more for discussions. Am I getting it wrong?
  9. Awwww I was just logging on to post the link in case anyone was interested in seeing it. And yep that's me (pretending) to play keyboards Darkstone Cheers Stefan for posting it!!! Would love to know what people think of course, as usual
  10. Wooaahh I take a break for a few days and come back to a totally new sleek look! I think I'm gonna like it but I'll defo need to play around with it a bit before I get fully used to it (as I've just discovered per the 'spoilers' below which were unintentional but I can't seem to get rid of lol)
  11. Cult of Luna - Eternal Kingdom Not a massive fan of growlers but it works really well on this imo https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pZG7y-AqNjo
  12. The trailer more or less gives the whole plot away though
  13. Into the Wild - quite slow paced but absorbing story of a graduate who gives all his money away to charity and tries his luck living alone in the wilds of Alaska Plus 'Rio' a behind the scenes look at the making of Duran Duran's epic album. Always loved the intro to the Rio track. Turns out it was Nick Rhodes messing about dropping sticks onto the strings of a grand piano and he thought it made an interesting sound & started experimenting with it and recorded it, then played it backwards which became the intro ?
  14. Aha! I knew I'd seen it before thanks to someone posting about it on this site but couldn't remember which thread. I need to start listening to some new music again now the holidays are coming to an end and I'm getting back to a more normal routine so will have to catch up on the threads I've missed and check out other recommendations
  15. Ah,now I don't usually like Pink Floyd (or rather I've never really got into them) but hearing that version got me wanting to hear more. I really like it
  16. Poseidon. What can I say? "Oh dear" is all that comes to mind. Predictable and OTT disaster movie but it was watchable
  17. Ohhhh what naughtiness!! Who's been uploading the whole album? Guess I shouldn't endorse such wickedness but I can't help being secretly proud and excited that there are listeners who love it and feel it's worth sharing, I hope i never forget that feeling. Plus, I guess it's freely available on Spotify too anyway. (And it's not like I've never taken advantage of hearing free downloads )
  18. Matchstick Men with Nicholas Cage. Really entertaining!
  19. All Is Lost. Awesome understated performance from Robert Redford. The director did a great job holding the interest in a movie with only one actor and practically zero speech. Loved it, especially the ending. Crikey though, makes you realise how few survival skills I have, I wouldn't have known where to begin in a situation like that.
  20. That was a very pleasant listen :-)
  21. I like the use of the keyboard to mimic the clock. Ten certainly stay true to their original sound which is not a bad thing by any means
  22. Whatwhatnow?! I'd hazard a guess to say you might be the only one in the world with these crazy thoughts. If not for his voice, I think Nickelback's fanbase would be 10 times what it is. Huh? His voice is gorgeous! Am I taking you seriously right now? I'm thinking, 'probably not'
