  1. Okay, it has to be done. Here are some random Fair Warning lyrics from 'I Fight' (pick any others if this isn't a good example): Looking for another way Trouble's down the street The sky's on fire - I'm moving on I got to face the heat I fight - when silence breaks at night I fight - no mercy in these eyes And if my love is strong enough, I got to break this pride - I fight - I fight... Aside from there being more words, how is that honestly any more well crafted than what Steel Panther have done? If anything, I would yawn and drift off listening to stuff like this, but no one can say that 'Asian Hooker' does not kick your ass. I just think you guys are being way too critical whilst not really having any ammunition. No, their lyrics are not genius (though they're the ones I've been most impressed with in a long while because they go where others don't), but again... what is that you listen to? Nothing. We just have to accept that Steel Panther have written some different to the norm lyrics that the soft at skin seem disappointed with, but for those with a good sense of humour and a desire for excellent songs they're a godsend.
  2. Happy birthday Rob. Don't you dare not party!!

  4. Bless you? What kind of f*cked up wor- oh, yeah. Uh... thanks mate. "Booiooiiahwahahhhh." That was me playing the didgeridoo... fyi.
  5. Who can honestly say they wouldn't fuckin welcome it?
  6. A lot of fillers on this one, but at least 3 super fantastic songs. Shame they aren't more consistent.
  7. "Take me to your leader!" he ordered. So Tommy took Trent to his mother. "Hi Tommy's Mother!" he said. Tommy's mother squirmed awkwardly and shot Trent in the face with a 12 gauge shotgun.
  8. Harem Scarem?? where?!?!??!?!?!?! I listened to these myspace samples last night... what are you smoking emoboy? You suck and I hate you.
  9. This one reminds me a lot of Nickelback too. I'm liking it, but I've listened to it about 10 times now and not too much is sticking too much yet. Good but not bowling me over.
  10. Where'd you pre-order and how much was it?
  11. Yeah, great disc. I stumbled on it for $2 early this year and have had a few positive things to say about it. They're from Melbourne I believe and have a good thing going. Almost a slight modern day Harem Scarem vibe at times, a few solos - it's good solid modern rock indeed.
  12. The ghost floated through the house. 'Boo,' it said. The ghost then floated through the wall, and got stuck. And couldn't move. Forever. It was stuck for the rest of time. 'Boo-hoo,' it said.
  13. This thread has a lot of what I believe are English words, but none of them make any sense.

Yeah, 'Comatose' is excellent. Looking forward to this new one a lot.
  15. The first thread I opened today was a fucking nightmare. Much like this day, which is fucking Monday.
  16. Love the debut... the second one. Not so good. In all honesty, though, I think even the debut has a few fillers. 'Let me down easy' is a killer track too.
  17. It's my favourite album of the year so far. I've put the question out there several times now and still had no reply as to what makes these lyrics inferior to the rest of the lyrics in the music we listen to. Until someone can validly tell me why there is less merit in Steel Panther's lyrics than anyone else's it will remain at the top of my 2009 list too... unless someone records an album which is as good as 'Feel The Steel' this year. Simple as that. The songs are the best I have heard in 2009. Stop prattling on about the lyrics. If you like them then that's lovely. The fact this band get a ton of undeserved hype and album sales is criminal when you think that talented bands like MARCELLO/VESTRY and FARCRY are playing 80's MHR and not getting anywhere near this level of hype. Sure, most AOR lyrics are not great - but never are they embarrassing to the point that you cringe every time you hear them. If I was 13 years old I might want to play this to my mates, but if I did that with this album I wouldn't expect to have any mates left. Anyway, this thread is about parody albums - and my view is that they're rarely funny. They NEVER have longevity. Let someone else buy them so you can hear them and laugh once, so you don't then see them collect dust on the shelf. If someone can tell me a parody song/album that is genuinely worth playing more than once or twice then let me know 'cos I haven't heard it. Sorry but I'm a serious music collector/fan & don't have time for this stuff. Grumpy ol' bastard. Seriously mate, I only harp on about the lyrics in reply to others harping on about how supposedly worthless they are. I still see no valid point why they're no good here. I may personally not cringe to a lot of poor lyrics because I don't expect or need them from this type of music, but when I play a lot of my AOR / melodic rock in front of other people I can understand reservations they have towards a lot of the lyrics when I listen from their perspective. I think a lot of them are very embarrassing... but it doesn't make it bad music. My simple point is - I do not understand why 'Asian Hooker' or 'Community Property' cannot be heard a second time but 'Slipped her the big one' by Danger Danger or 'She goes down' by Motley Crue can? I've said it a million times, but you haters are not making sense to me. A good song is a good song... it's a simple equation. Marcello/Vestry and Farcry are both excellent. But just like in the 80's some bands got lucky and sadly a bunch of equally good ones didn't. This time round Steel Panther got lucky and I am happy as f*ck for them. I'd rather be behind a genuinely excellent band finally going somewhere rather than tearing them down at every opportunity.
  18. nice.......that's pretty much my line up for the day! That Dynazty started out strong but faded towards the middle and end. Shame really cos the first three showed some promise. Sturm Und Drang do this sooooo much better. Yeah, I agree. There are nice moments but it's really just not working for me overall. A lot more filler than good stuff on it. Last Winter - 'Under the silver of machines' or something ; killer disc. So They Say - 'Surveillance'
  19. Society Red - s/t Evans Blue - s/t Dynazty - 'Bring the thunder'
  20. Wowser. That 'I'm done loving you' track on myspace is awesome! Definitely need to hear more. Not sure I ever heard the debut?
  21. The Baron flowed down his throat and he was content. Not really happy, but content.
  22. None. Ever. Maybe I should watch one. Actually, Wimbeldon is on tonight so maybe I won't bother. Again. (
