  1. Hey mate, this was about the time I saw you guys and I thought your setlist was incredible. I love the first 3 song EP, but as far as I could tell, that was only a tiny portion of a good banquet of great songs you had at the time. Would there be any chance you guys would throw together an album of these songs from that era? I saw you live and it was great for the 40mins or so I stood there watching, but my memory is shit, especially 10+ years later and now I couldn't tell one of those songs from a mosquito buzzing by. I'd love something to hold onto and play again, to enjoy what I really thought were great songs. Really get to know them. I hate live albums generally, but even if you released a (well recorded, please) live album of one of your sets, just playing all that awesome stuff from that era... I have a feeling that if those songs were as good as I remembered, there would be solid demand for this material. Any thoughts on something like that? Hi Geoff! Thanks for all your kind words! :-) Yeah, there were a number of songs going around back in the day. Unfortunately we never got to record a lot of them (although I think we got the best three down on the 'Crazy' EP), as back then recording was a lot less accessible and more expensive than it is nowadays when every kid has Pro-Tools at home. These days we all have careers, families, other interests and pursuits that take up all of our time. It's proven difficult to even find free time for the five of us to rehearse, let alone put the work in required to make an album or EP. Unfortunately it isn't something any of us has the time/money investment for. A live recording could be something to look into for one of our reunion shows, if we could find an efficient way to do it, and have it be up to standard. It's a shame to me as well that we never got some of those songs recorded back in the day. But it was very much a "time and place" thing, and I don't even know if we'd capture that same youth and unpredictability we had back in our late teens/early 20's. That was vital to our sound. Never say never, as the desire is certainly there; it's just time and moulah! :-s
  2. Hi Geoff, I guess I'm in a reliable position to answer your questions! ;-) We are doing this show (and another one or two) for our reunion. We are very much representing the "Crazy"-era of the band. The core three original members are featured - myself, Kyle Ross on lead guitar, and Steve Cox on bass. Longtime drummer Luciano Alvaro (played on A Dark Obsession and with me in Moments Apart) will be with us, and our friend Anth Nekich is the newcomer on rhythm guitar. Setlist I'll keep a secret, but it's exclusively material we played live from 2002-2005. Really looking forward to playing at Melodic Rock Fest and dusting off some really old songs. Come say g'day if you make it to the show - we'll be on early! Thanks mate... as I mentioned in the other thread I just replied to; would love to see some kind of recording of these songs available for the interested public. I did actually try very hard to make attending this gig happen for me, but in end I just had to pull the pin. The ticket prices are incredible value, and I had some really cheap accomodation lined up too, literally just around the corner from the venue. The part that raped me was the cost of getting there and back - it was just going to end up stupid, and with a 3 week overseas holiday coming up with the wife and 2 kids; plus my wife still being on (unpaid) maternity leave until July... it was just going to be way too much to try and make this happen. Shame, as I originally thought I might be able to get $100 return flights... but even then, when I read the fine print, they were to and from Avalon, which would have been another huge mass of money to get to and from too, I am sure. Not that those $100 return flights ever re-appeared on my searches after my initial search. After that it was all far more expensive flights, at unmanageable times of day too. Yep, I tried, but maybe next time; if the location gets changed to Sydney. The ticket prices for MRFAU are great but by the time we look at accommodation and flights, it's going to be an expensive weekend. Still the line-up is great and I am excited to be going regardless of the cost. It's a real shame Mitch pulled out, not the biggest drawcard for most people but for me I had been playing all of his albums since the line-up was announced trying to become more familiar with his work after his debut. His second album is surprisingly much better than I remembered. Can't wait to see BB Steal, Teargas and of course White Widdow and Serpentine Sky...and The Radio Sun and Paul Laine and Eclipse. So yeah pretty much the whole line-up. Are Vanishing Point good live these days, does anybody know? Also Kaata and Tonk - both I am unfamiliar with - any songs worth checking out on Youtube to get me interested? I completely understand that Geoff. Ah, families, financial responsibilities - wasn't really a concern back when Teargas had its run, but it most certainly is now - hence why we're only doing these couple of shows then calling it a day again. I'll see you there JC_AOR - make sure you get there early on the Saturday, or you'll miss us. Haha!
  3. @phaffas No new material on the horizon mate, or in the foreseeable future. Maybe one day when there's more time to play with! Not sure if you ended up checking out my last band from 2011-14, Moments Apart? Couple of our music videos on YouTube - "Thoughtless" might be up your alley - it's very melodic. Hope to see you at MRF!
  4. Hi guys! Absolutely having a huge giggle reading some of these comments. Can't say I disagree with some of the criticism either - I was a bit of a porkchop back then, wasn't I? ;-) After many attempts in recent years, we've finally gotten a Teargas reunion together for 2016. We'll be representing the "Crazy" era of the band - the one everyone (including us) remembers most fondly. Setlist will be exclusively material played live from 2002-05 - the melodic hard rock style. We'll be performing at Melodic Rock Fest in Melbourne on Sat 14 may - first band on in the afternoon. We'll also announce a headlining show or two for June shortly. Once these 2-3 shows are done, we are done. We will ride off into the sunset again - albeit hopefully on a much higher note! The 'A Dark Obsession' era was a confusing, tumultuous time for us. I struggle to listen to that EP because it's such a mismash of styles and influences. Also not a particularly happy time. We really lost our identity as a band. There are moments I like a lot on that EP, but overall it was wrong to call that incarnation Teargas. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though, right? We were very young... Older, wiser, hairier and uglier, We now know what side our bread is buttered on - the reunion will be a celebration of our melodic hard rock roots, and a celebration of our loyal fans who have wanted to hear this for a long time. We can't wait to get out and play. Hope you guys can make it out - this will likely be the only chance! :-) Details on our facebook: www.facebook.com/teargasmelbourne BTW; the other 'Teargas' band from around 2010-11 was some punk group from Queensland with the same name. Wasn't us.
