  1. Pretty sure there used to be one here that people would add to and repost as they saw fit.

Anyone have a list of upcoming releases?

Just saw that the Gun album was out, last I recall I posted saying I was looking forward to it, next thing I know it's been out for over a month.

    Don't wanna miss anything.

I’d like to say that they more or less evolved.Since their comeback release-Brave New World-they’ve been putting out longer songs which means every CD is over an hour. I personally like Book of Souls and Senjutsu, didn’t care for Final Frontier. If you want a more catchy music I would recommend getting Bruce’s new solo release

Actually tattooed millionaire, the song, came on the other day and I enjoyed it a lot.

From memory it was the only real stand out for me with that solo album, but may be worth another listen. May also give the new one a go. 😆

  3. So as I've mentioned before, I'm in a period where I get to churn through a huge amount of albums that I've accumulated over the last few years and have banked up due to me being pretty busy.
Been traveling a lot, and when I'm home, I've been walking to work and back (40 mins each way) so have had heaps of time to get through the music.

So I've made it through over 50 albums in the last 6 months, and now I have only 9 left in my spotify.
They are the ones I've put off as they are take a lot of listen to get into and include Revolution Saints, Jeff Scott Soto, Iron Maiden and Asking Alexandria (not sure why that one is on my list)

So today I put Maiden on. Book Of Souls.
I've moved away from Maiden for years now, last great album was Somewhere In Time for me, after that they got boring.

So I'm listening to Book Of Sould for the second time, and jesus, not sure what happened to them.
Are they classed as prog now? They sound like it.

Only ones that have provided any hope of being any good are Tears Of A Clown, Elpire Of The Coulds, and Shadows Of The Valley (which has hope only really because of teh Wasted Years vibe)

So wondering if they have gradually been changing, and I'm dropping back in to a prog Maiden, or maybe they just don't wrioote hooky, melodic, catchy songs any more?

  4. Don't hate any artists.

Obviously some annoy me more than others, usually due to over playing on the radio etc.

Missing You - John Waite and Drive - The Cars are pretty good examples of songs I started to hate, but over the years started to like them.

Most bands I don't like I just stay away from.

    The Darkness, Ozzy, Motorhead, etc

can't do many of the lived Aussie acts like Hoodoo Gurus, nick Cave, Wolfmother, Jet, Savage Garden, Black Sorrows, Powderfinger, The Living End, Paul Kelly, Boom Crash Opera.

hard to avoid these here though 😮‍💨

While not as classic as their early stuff, I thought tracks like Jumpin, Take it off, Don't you fade on me, I'd rather be making love, Prime time & Door to door were cool songs. I will admit the sound on Prime time was a bit muffled though.

    +1

Regarding any upcoming gig, to make it an easier transition they should dedicate it to CJ, all proceeds go to his family etc.

It doesn't work for me, but I've made my feelings known about women singers I don't know my ears just don't like it but thats me.

    Yeah I'm the same.

Replacing male with female is a big call.

These days I don't listen to much female led music, but Attractive Chaos is excellent.

  7. Some great songs there

I place them somewhere between the phone number album and the earlier stuff.

I like the phone number album. If they had progressed to it over time I think it would be better regarded, but at the time was a shock to the system of die hard fans.

Anyway, look forward to this new album.

  8. Yeah I'm loving the break.

I've been churning through my backlog of albums I hadn't get to yet.

Currently listening to WASP, crowne, dynasty and stombreaker.

Would be nice for a change to be listening to a new album the same time as everyone else.

Did that somewhat with Russell guns but not many here seemed too into it

I've also been walking to work and back (yes, I still have a driver's licence) so have had an additional 1 1/2 hours a day listening while I walk.

At the airport now and have a bunch of newish albums to listen to while I relax in Darwin.

Didn’t realise Def Leppard were a synthwave band, ‘cause these guys sound like ‘Hysteria’ era Def Leppard more than anything else I can think of. 😉

I was wondering the other day how many people miss out on good music because it is not under a label they desire. Very sad.

I'll give it a go if it has any temnance of hysteria in it.

But there's so much music. I just don't have the time to try it all out so I rely on comments and feedback when opening a thread like this.

  10. This isn't a bad album after a few more listens.
One frustrating things is in "For You" when they sing that in the chorus and then double it up with a 'backing for you' which makes it sound like he's singing "for evil"
Living A Lie, Give Me The Night, Next In Live and Where I Belong are also pretty good.
I also don't 'hear' Tracy Guns, but is there really anything to hear with him.
I guess he has his own style and sound, but it mustn't be disctinct enough without the rest of the LA Guns sound.
The guitars are solid on this album though, and production is great.

HEAT are a shadow of their former selves now Erik has gone.

    Just sayin

    Based on what?

I've never seen them with Erik, and didn't get to see skid row with him either as it was cancelled.

I know he has a great voice, but live, I was pretty impressed with the whole Kenny package.

  12. Yeah sorry, Shotgun Mistress, not Messiah, lol

Forgot to mention that Slaughter had a drum solo.
Holy fuck, I can't remember seeing a drum solo in the last 10 years or so.
It was ok, I guess, but took 5 mins from the already shortened 1 hour set.
Think they did a cover as well, Immigrant Song, and possibly some of Won't Get Fooled Again, again weird, as this coupled with the drum solo left 50 mins of original songs.

Was it you who had never listened to Tyketto before? I'm so glad you dug their set, and I also hate you because I've never seen them.

Thanks for the review, it's always cool to hear other's experiences. And I might have to check out some of the earlier artists.

Yeah, I'd heard Forever Young only pretty much.

But I've been listing to their average set list over the last few weeks and dug it all.

So I knew the songs well and am glad I did. In fact a couple of them seemed to be relatively unknown to most of the audience, maybe they were newer songs?

Sad that I have missed out on regularly hearing Wings and Reach for the last 30 years or so, but on the other hand I get to explore their whole catalog now and am looking forward to that 😀

I went in expecting Tyketto to be my highlight but HEAT and Slaughter were also my reasons for going.

Tyketto well exceeded my expectations (which were already high)

HEAT  pretty much lived up to expectations

Slaughter, I'd have to say sounded good, played the songs I wanted to hear but had a short set and didn't really engage the audience as I'd hoped or expected, so overall maybe didn't quite get to expectations, but I still enjoyed them.
