  1. Late to the party (and didn't need to be here anyway as the Pens got demolished this year), but congrats to the Blues.  If the Pens don't win, (or Jackets if they make it past the Pens), I always root to see new blood (or a Canadian team) win the Cup.  I was rooting for a Carolina/didn't care from the West final.  But the Blues took the Cup; happy for St. Louis fans.

  2. If someone offered me a sample or a sip, I'd try it.  But I'll be damned if I'm buying it.  Especially after looking at the average ratings.  Not exceptional, though I guess not downright horrible.  Technically a bit above average.

    Vagina Beer Ratings

That's kind of sad that it's real, although there are beers brewed with beard yeast as well, so I guess it doesn't much matter.  I was really wishing that helium beer would have been a real thing, though.  That would have been AWESOME!!!!

(Go to the just past 4:15-4:20 to watch the actual hilarity.)

I've never seen this movie before, or even heard of it. It stars screen legend Tippi Hedren and her daughter Melanie Griffith. Everybody involved in this movie had balls of steel!! It was promoted as the most dangerous movie ever made and that's pretty spot on. Crazy assed shit!

That's some legitimately crazy shit there! Sadly, there's a reason we have to have so many laws on the books; this is one of them (even if it was in a time when we didn't know as much/do as much).

And to think Griffith went on to a pretty darned good career AFTER this experience.  I'd always heard of Tippi Hedren, known just cursory stuff about her, but never this.  I wonder how many times she sat there after it all and said "if only I hadn't married that dumbass!"

  4. Game Over, Man - I haven't had much luck with Netflix-produced stuff, particularly movies, in the past, but this one broke the mold for me.  I never got in to Workaholics, but the Workaholics dudes pulled this one off.  Ridiculously hilarious movie.  Had me in stitches (and the folks with whom I watched it; my brother watched a few minutes and said it didn't do it for him, but I think he just didn't give it a chance-he LOVES immature and stupid stuff!)  3 buds who work together and chill get involved in a situation at work where they can't be chill anymore.

Game Night - Watched it on a recommendation, but I wasn't expecting much.  I was very pleasantly surprised.  Good cast, really good story, and very funny.  Glad I followed through on that recommendation.  A group of friends (couples) who get together regularly for game night have a wrinkle or two thrown in to game night (and other life plans) when a sibling shows up and wants to join in.

  5. I only have gotten to listen to this once so far (when I get home from work, it's all about the fantasy hockey playoffs right now), but it's definitely a musical departure from what you associate with Myles.

Aside from the different musicality, I'm guessing the lyrics are much deeper than I was able to pick up on a drive where I was talking to someone/worried about making it to a destination on time.  This album will warrant a much closer listen when the time is available. (After the fantasy hockey playoffs, if not the NHL playoffs.)  But definitely listen before buying if you're going in thinking Myles is the lead singer of Alter Bridge and of Slash & the Conspirators.  (Although, from the traffic in this thread, not sure that's a worry anyway.  haha)

  6. Love, love, love Shinedown, but as of the first listen, this song doesn't do anything for me.  Though, I'll try it again and hope other songs on the album aren't in a similar vein.

Brent Smith has an amazingly powerful, melodic voice.  Some of my favorite songs are Shinedown songs.  Hoping there are much better cuts on the new album.

  7. I know, generally, he doesn't belong here, but this album is a bit of a departure from what we're used to hearing from Mr. Kennedy(... KENNEDY!), so I figured I'd throw it here.  (It's definitely not the the AB or Slash/Conspirators vein.)

I can't wait until this album drops because, as much as I love his AB and Slash work, and absolutely ADORE Mayfield Four, this is different and all him.  And it's personal.  (Plus, I'd listen to the guy sing the phone book if he recorded it.)

Hope I'm not the ONLY one looking forward to it, though I know another HH alum who'll be buying it as well.

Stated in Kennedy’s official press release; on Year Of The Tiger, Kennedy embarks on his first venture as a solo artist by embracing musical elements and influences he hasn’t explored until this point in his career. What emerges is a 12-song concept record inspired by the loss of his father when he was a child. Kennedy himself plays banjo, lap steel, bass, and mandolin in addition to guitar throughout the album. From the opening guitar riff of album opener “Year Of The Tiger” to uplifting album closer “One Fine Day,” it is clear that these songs tell a story that has been brewing in Kennedy since the first mention of a solo album in 2009. The emotional journey and personal story of Myles is captured in a bluesy-americana album with a twist of country and rock, swirling and flowing around this incredible soulful voice the world has come to know.

  8. FFS, that's impressive!  Not only the moves, but that he's put in the time and effort to get that good, particularly at that age.  My lazy ass was only worried about making money from my paper routes and, as I see now, wasting it on football & baseball cards.

Congrats Terry!  A damn proud papa you should be.

  9. Well, even though this is technically a repost (or the woman in question is), it's fine because a) Photobucket can bite the big one, B) these are probably different pictures, and c) it's been over a decade since the original post.

To reference Darkstone's video at the top of the cage about Stacy Keibler, here's WWE's "One That Got Away", Louise Glover.

By the way, if y'all are on the Untappd app, I'd be happy to have you as a friend. Love to see what everyone else in the melodic rock world is drinking!

Just threw a friend request your way.  Other than Denny, it'll be cool to have someone from back in the day on Untappd with me.

Also, I almost made it to Philly this summer.  (Well, not almost, but there was a class I could have taken, but I'm not sure they'd have approved the Philidelphia week because there are at least 2 other options closer.  But, I would have LOVED to have spent the week there.)

This past weekend I was lucky enough to have a great sour from O'so in Wisconsin called Arbre Qui Donne and a very different, but wonderful, IPA from Illuminated in Chicago called Spoonful of Sugar.  (Among many others.)  There are just so damn many good beers out there nowadays that there's always something new on the horizon.

Hope some of you other folks are still drinking and trying good, new stuff.

  11. And here it is again...

Just 20 years old, porn star Olivia Nova was found dead in Las Vegas this past Sunday.  (Apparently, her BF committed suicide just a few months prior.)  I'm not naive enough to think that whoever produces porn is going to get people available to counsel this people, but someone has to try to get through to them.  This has long been pushing toward epidemic territory and, maybe even before this, I think it's reached it.  All of these deaths have been way too young, but 20?  Jeez!  Poor kid.  RIP
