  1. I'm a lurker, but thanks to the big MB/Cher controversy several months back, I have a few new favorite albums that I would have otherwise never in my wildest dreams considered worthy of even a moment of my time due to misguided pretensions and stupid preconceptions. So, my question is, what else am I missing out on?? JS
  2. Wow, some great songs listed! For the record, I was specifically thinking of longer songs with non-conventional song structures. Especially those tunes that build up into a 'grand finale' of sorts. Child in Time is another favorite of mine, as well as Stairway, and I LOVE that Chris de Burgh song! GREAT example of what I'm looking for! That's a tune I might never have heard if I hadn't started this thread. If any of you have any more suggestions, keep em comin! cheers!
  3. Hey all, I just wanted to step in and inquire about everyone's favorite epic songs. I'm talking about songs like Stargazer and Don't Wake the Lion. I've been on a kick lately and I'd like to discover some new favorite songs! Are there any hidden gems out there? cheers, JS
  4. Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't think they are what I'm looking for. Not looking for blues based rock ala Black Crowes. I'm looking for ...ok, call me crazy, but I was thinking I'd love to hear Thorogood covered by Black Label Society! heh.. THAT kind of 'heavier'! There may not be anything like that, but also, Four Horseman was a good suggestion but I'm looking for something less simplistic, and something with swagger, attitude, and that 'beer smell' to it, you know? An amped up SRV would be another description.. Hell, maybe Thorogood is just in a league of his own. Thanks again, and it you've got more suggestions, lemme have 'em! JS
  5. Hey, George Thorogood has been blowing my mind lately! Is there anyone else playing this style of rockin' blues, but with a HEAVIER sound?? I'm looking for intricate guitarwork with a ton of improv and variations of 'riffs', ala Thorogood, totally rockin' blues, but ..HEAVIER! Cranked up a couple notches, you know? Any suggestions? Cheers! JS
