  3. HAHA! Not even close mate. Yeah, I did a quick search and it did appear to have been released this year... can't wait for the full disc!! You know I love to get down with the bullet Backed on the Pretty Wild.....should be a great debut especially if they beef the sound up with a decent production.
  4. 2 I listened to yesterday - I-Ten - I Dont Want to Lose You Franke & The KOs - Carrie Why Absolute AOR perfect in every way shape and form. 2 of the best AOR songs period.
  5. Hey mate, Bulletproof Messenger is definitely a 2009 release. I agree with JSS (not that it'd be on any of my lists anyway) and Strum Und Drang, but BM is defo 2009. I thought Pretty Wild was 2008 too, but you might be right. That'd be at 4th on my list if that's the case. Well I purchased Bulletproof off their website last year . If it is a 2009 release it should be No 1 on your modern list cos it smokes any of those (again). Pretty Wild's EP is a Feb 09 release.......although expect a full debut later this year. Fantastic stuff....'Shockin Teen' just kicks my arse.
  6. Sunstorm - Gutters Of Gold [holy shit ]
  7. You're a day late with your April Fools Day jokes mate? Best song ever recorded... HA HA HA. Next up: MASTODON - Crack the Skye Its not even the best song on the album np Sunstorm - House Of Dreams
  8. I've seen photos of ghosts and ufo's..... Personally, I've never quite understood how someone can stand in the middle of creation (the beach/ocean/mountains/forests/etc.) and believe it all happened by accident. As Ken Tamplin once wrote in a song, "A single cell points to a design." Life on earth is simply far too complex to believe it happened without guidance from a Higher Power. But hey, that's just me, and right about now Geoff is rolling his eyes and thinking, Mark, I knew you'd chime in with something like that. Oh, don't get me wrong. Obviously something beyond amazing happened so that this world was created - a higher power indeed. But it sure as hell wasn't a bearded man sitting there with his massive hands and a ball of clay and a bucket of water sculpting the universe. Nor was it a power which needs a religion dedicated to it. Something that no human will ever be able to explain created the world and it's as simple as that. Going to church and dedicating one's life to some fictional idea of 'God' and a religion does not mean a person knows anymore about how the world got here than someone who wipes his ass with the pages of the bible or koran... or whatever book from which ever bunch of jesters think they have it right. heres the resident smartass again, just to tell you that it's originally spelt "Qur'an" its an interesting word, i thought it might be of some use to you yes, im a pompous git tonight i know Well blow me!! here I am thinking it was always spelt Kerrang!! I appreciated that mate even if no one else did.
  9. Wow, Geoff youre gonna hate me when you read this. I just had my first listen of the new Sunstorm, and I have to say that after the debut which I absolutely loved, I was expecting pretty big things............. Well its good, but nowhere near the debut for me Im afraid. & my main problem...............the first 3 songs LOL!!! I was listening to these first 3 songs thinking..........shit is this the new House Of Lords album or what????! Where was the energy of 'Keep Tonight' or 'Fame & Fortune'.........all you get is a forced HOL sound with mid temp downbeat choruses. Quite lifeless really.....I mean listen to 'Divided' and 'Keep Tonight' back to back.......sounds like a different band. Well I was quite pleased when 'I Found Love' kicked in cos I thought....hell here's the Sunstorm I know. Great uptempo rocker with excellent chorus. Nice. & the next ballad...well I agree its soppy and POL written all over it, but at least it sounds like Sunstorm unlike the first 3. Next up 'Gutters Of Gold'.......holy shit what a track (sorry to disagree once again Geoff) - this really kicked my arse big style. The ending - jesus - serious solos....reminded me of the ending of 'Fist Full Of Heat'.......cudos to Peterik. What a song writer that guy is. & 'Tears Of A Page' is excellent too.....yeah POL, but I really liked that one. Elsewhere we get some familiar songs......in particular 'Forever Now' (nice version but JLTs vocals nowhere near Tel Brock IMO), and 'Walk On' which sounds good with a lush production but again pales against the Jimmy Barnes version from 1987 (JLT co-wrote this track so i suppose he deserves a shot at it.....falls a bit flat tho). So in summary a very good album. Not up to the debut, but easily sitting at no 2 spot this year so far....however I fully expect it to slip way down the order as the year progresses (just like HOL did ). Best tracks : I Found Love, Gutters Of Gold, Tears On The Page
  10. Shit has anyone looked back at the older entries - the one of the horrid looking girl looking between the girls legs. Explanation is that the woman who lives there keeps seeing a little girl run past the door. Shit that gave me the creeps.
  11. Riggs - Too Strong (shit this is still a great song...those solos)
  12. Well mate, opinions differ - Midnight Madness is f awesome in my book.
  13. Nice one Bernd! Thanks, mate ! ... and it is spinning again ! What's that like then??
  14. JSS - Beautiful Mess is debateable, the digital release was 08 but the physical CD was 09. Though I did include it in my best of 08 list so maybe I should leave it off this years list. But who cares. Yeah it should probably be 2008 as that was it's original release date. The only reason I didn't include it in my 2009 list is because it's rubbish. Heathen
  15. Glen

    iTunes

nor me........... I love my new ipod classic...120 GB is well enough storage space. Ive got around 7,000 tracks on mine. Also Ive never had a problem with itunes (apart from slightly slowing down your computer....although hardly noticeable).....i dont understand what all the fuss is about. The Genius application on version 8 is excellent as well.........good for when you are bored and cant think what to listen to - you choose a song and it creates a playlist of songs which go with it - works really well.
  16. Oh, good call. That and 'Nobody wins in this war' are two of the best out there. Backed 100% - easily the 2 best songs off that album and 2 of the best songs period
  17. Backed. Some excellent songs on that one. over the last couiple of days - Ted Poley - Smile Survivor - Caught In The Game Airborne - s/t Orion The Hunter - s/t
  18. The only ones I can comment on so far are - Place Vendome - Streets Of Fire Pretty Wild - All The Way (EP.....but full release later this year) Bad Habit - Above & Beyond Saxon - Into The Labyrinth and that's the order. I agree with the comment that all the best stuff is yet to come - Wig Wam, Danger Danger, WET, Sunstorm, Heaven & Hell, Farcry etc etc & for those that have included the following in your 2009 lists JSS - Beautiful Mess Sturm Und Drang - Rock n Roll Children Bulletproof Messenger - Arm Yourself. I would like to point out that these are all 2008 releases but in the words of Geoff 'you are forgiven as they are all so good they transcend time'.
  19. ps im only going on the Saturday...........
  20. Yep - I mentioned to the band on Saturday, so no gigs will be booked. I just need to get my ticket now. Where's the best place Glen? Id get it direct from Bruce Mee - i sent a cheque but i think he takes paypal as well - details will be on the FF website - give me a shout otherwise
  21. So who's going then - I think Jez & Tim are up for it....anyone else??
  22. Pretty decent debut I love all their early stuff....probably more so than the Jamison years. The Bickler era is fantastic, so many tremendously great tunes, apart from Vital Signs, Premonition through to Caught In The Game are my faves Backed......although s/t is up there too in my book.
