  1. Yeah I like this. Im not maybe quite as mad about it as Geoff (it definitely wont be my fav), but there are a few great songs on here....and what I thought (on first listen) were a couple of filler as well. I completely agree on 'Start Over', 'Tell Me' (highlight of the disc) and 'Wasted'. But i'd also add 'Dirty Girl' (G - hope that wasnt your filler!!) which completely kicked my arse and is awesome. There are one or two choruses which just didnt quite live up and I found myself hitting forward a couple of times, but overall a good solid modern album with strong vocals and great playing.....one thing I would add is that one song had a short guitar solo and I found myself thinking if only theyd thrown a few more in! Cheers
  2. Sorry mate. The 'Wild Flower' chorus isn't even remotely akin to the Poison sound. Honestly, mate, you're talking about a song I hated instantly as soon as I heard the myspace sample compared to a band I have loved for more than a decade. I honestly hear no single resemblance at all. As I said, if I did I sure as hell would not be a fan of Poison. Just to settle this debate once and for all, as you guys can't seem to agree.... 1. The chorus of "Wild Flower" does sound like Poison (more so than Slaughter) 2. It is the worst song of 2009 so far 3. I've already heard at least 15 albums in 2009 that are better than this one 1. Well at least I know why you guys hate Poison so much now. You chaps have no freakn' clue what they sound like! Trust me. As an avid Poison fan, they do/did not make music that sounds like that shit. Right just to settle this, ive checked on 'Open Up.......' and here goes. Chorus on 'Wild Flower' = exactly the same melody as 'Nothing But A Good Time' If you cant hear the resemblance you are deaf. You know, I can actually catch the resemblance for one line's worth of comparison. The line "Wiy-ald Flow-er" bears a slight resemblance to the line "Nothin', but a good time" - I'll give you that, barely. But what about the verses? What about the rest of the chorus where Poison actually go on to create a huge, fantastic and delicious chorus which was an anthem to millions, whereas Lima dwells on this one horrible line? Sorry mate, I still just don't see it. One line in one song does not mean this shitty song sounds like Poison. That's why I called it a Poison b-side

  6. Err - A big fat no to that statement! As I said above Twice, comparable with a more AOR'ish Bad Company and certainly no lighter than alot of 'AOR' discs past/present and it certainly has some bite to it in places. Steve Overland sounds brilliant on this and this is pretty much a pre-cursor to the excellent FM, although not as produced and a more slightly bluesy, less keyboard edge. An album that is held in high esteem by quite a few AOR fans, and pretty much a no brainer to be honest. Backed 100%
  7. Our Wasted Days - Nocturnal Rites fucking orgasmic.

  9. ? what time zone are you in LOL! Got this ready to go for a decent listen in the morning.
  10. Pure AOR for me....surprised you didnt dig this as all songs are great with loads of melody and excellent choruses. Nothing to dislike really. A classic.

    W.E.T

Gonna be one of the albums of the year....i can feel it.
  12. More of an AOR Bad Co. vibe going on Ah. Maybe I'll just save my money & spin "Indiscreet" instead. Shit ignore the Bad Company comment - I cant stand them. Wildlife is an awesome album. Not a filler in sight. I actually prefer this to FM truth be told. 'Somewhere In The Night' is my fav Overland song, bar none. get it. The AOR'ish Bad Co. description is not that far off mate to be honest, whether you can't stand them or not i'm afraid. Not a total surprise really With Simon Kirke on Drums and Mick Ralphs producing the album. I can see where you are coming from, but I wouldnt want to put Tim off buying an awesome album. LOL By the way, did you see them at Hammy Odeon yonks ago when they supported..........errrr. come on brain work....was it MSG?? Cheers

    Proper Footie 2008/9

Predictions for tonight?? I reckon if MU defend solidly and hit them on the counter it they will win 2-1 If they try to outplay Barca it will be 1-3. We'll see.
  16. The Poodles - Dream To Follow f excellent.
  17. The Poodles - Clash Of The Elements (about as good as I hoped it would be. only one spin tho).
  18. The Poodles - Clash Of The Elements The Veer Union - Against The Grain Nural - Entitlement Johnny Lima - Livin Out Loud Pretty Maids - Jump The Gun
  19. Poison B side you mean...... There a few absolute killers on this album tho. I should walk away but this type of nonsense needs to be addressed. Some facts: 1. I love Poison and Slaughter and I despise 'Wildflower'. If Poison or Slaughter ever recorded a song like that I would never have been a fan. That's all Lima's doing... don't try dragging good bands into that mess. 2. Weakest Slaughter and Poison songs > best Lima has ever recorded. No offence to the dude as I like him and he has a handful of good songs... but not that good. Oh come on mate, even you cant say that the 'Wild Flower' chorus isnt akin to the Poison sound. It sounds like a track which didnt make 'Open Up..............' & for the record I actually quite like most of the Poison releases (esp 'Flesh & Blood) but just havent played them for ages. Your point 2 is bollocks tho......im not even going to discuss that.
  20. Weird mate, Nordic?? All I heard on Sweet Trade was awesome melodic hard rock. Im spinning Sweet Trade as we speak and if the 2nd side is Nordic Im a monkey's uncle. LOL. Looking forward to playing the newie. I hear what Geoff is saying with the Nordic. I'd call it more Power Metal without the fast as hell drums. But the themes and melodies remind me of Power Metal without all the Opera/Symphonic stuff. I'm with Lennie/Glen (why the name change?) It's a killer disc, especially the second half of it. Yeah, I 100% stand by my comments on the "nordic" sound of most of that disc. If I do recall rightly so there were some half decent rockers towards the end, and the ballad was excellent. But there was a whole lot of shit on that disc, and imo the decent rockers at the end weren't really that good. I will whip it out and give it a spin again, though. Maybe. Just for you guys. Either way, I own the debut and will certainly buy the new disc but I can't see me ever having 'Sweet Trade' in my collection. 'the decent rockers at the end weren't really that good' Ha, you do really make me laugh sometimes...those 3 rockers are excellent MHR mate. You need to get that fluff out of your ears. LOL. As for the newie.....spun it this morning and for me its just a continuation of the last 2 (as Jez rightly stated). Soundwise almost exactly what you would expect of a Scandi melodic rock band. There are a couple of awesome rockers towards the end and in general this is probably (just) their best release. Certainly better than the patchy debut which whilst having about 5 awesome rockers also had a whole bunch of shitty filler as well. One of the best in the MHR field in 09 for sure. Cheers
