Just yesterday this guy said to me, "I'm taking my son to his first concert!"

I'm like, "Oh, yeah? Who are you seeing?"

    "Red Hot Chili Peppers!"

And I just turned and walked away. Thinking about it now, I guess that was pretty rude, but I had no interest in talking about them. Haha.

I saw them in 2003 at a festival and I thought they were very good.

  3. interesting thread.

There are genres of music I really dislike but I can absolutely acknowledge that those artists / bands are still really talented in a lot of cases and put on great live shows.

I guess for me to hate an artist they'd need to be either obnoxious- like for instance Liam Gallagher, or just really useless , like for example that idiot from the pogues.

Or maybe someone who alienates or disrespects their own fan base like Michael Eden.

  4. 85-95 is a v odd range lol. Surely everything after 93 is shit ;)

Anyways here's a rough top 30 in no order :

    marillion - Misplaced / Clutching

    Gregg Rolie - s/t

    D2 - s/t

    Signal -    loud & clear

    Harem - mood swings & s/t

    Kane Roberts - Saints

    Hardline.  - double eclipse

    Unruly Child - s/t

Giant - Time to Burn & debut

    Crown of Thorns- s/t

    Winger Pull

    BJ - SWW

    FM - first 2

    Journey ROR

    GnR

    Whitesnake 1987

NR - Big Life & MIN

    Def - Hysteria

    DRN - s/t

    Dare - OOTS

    Survivor - THTS

    Strangeways WITF

    Blvd- Into the Street

    Nelson After the Rain

    Valentine.    st

Interesting commentary on all this. I'm not sure what all the fuss about the vocals is about and I don't really care to be honest. I just thought the songs were all pretty average. I was hoping for one keeper as I feel like it deserves to have at least one contribution to my 2023 playlist... but it's a pass for me. 'Juliette' was my favourite track, but still not a keeper, imo.

his vocals are so accented , that's a massive pass for me. Only listened to 1 song lol

Exactly where I'm at on this....

The music is outstanding and it sounds like something I should really like but I've totally soured on Strandell's vocals.  I don't know what it is exactly...tone, accent....tough to say exactly what bothers me but his vocals almost make me cringe.

    this ^^^^ 💯

Once again, this is just a matter of opinion. And the fact that a cover does not improve on the original is neither here nor there. If it is still enjoyable, then in is not an "utter waste" now is it. Yes some covers are just cash grabs or lazy ways of recording new material without all the work that goes into writing a song, but a lot of covers are done because bands or artists want to show their inspirations.

As long as a cover is not god awful (go listen to Paul Dianno cover Symphony of destruction), and they are enjoyable, they are not an utter waste.

of course it's opinion, what isn't.

For me most are a waste of time. I'll listen once and probably never again. On an album I'll just skip 🤷‍♂️
