  2. New album 'Old Habits Die Hard' out May 3. From Frontiers: 2024 sees FM celebrate their 40th Anniversary with the release of the band’s fourteenth studio album OLD HABITS DIE HARD accompanied as ever by an extensive touring schedule. The new album is exactly the bona fide, classy and breezy new FM album that all fans have been waiting for, with crisp and clean sounds, excellent musical performances and a Steve Overland’s voice which – in itself – is a fabulous added value. To no one’s surprise, it is another top notch album that will keep the band’s status as one of the premiere melodic rock entities firmly in place! In the summer of 1984 singer Steve Overland and his brother, guitarist Chris (both formerly of Wildlife) teamed up with drummer Pete Jupp (ex-Wildlife and Samson) and bassist Merv Goldsworthy (ex-Diamond Head and Samson) to form FM. Joined by the keyboard talents of Didge Digital, by December that year they had secured a recording contract with CBS/Portrait and the band headed to Germany for a run of dates with Meat Loaf. Further tours with Tina Turner, Foreigner and Gary Moore built up the momentum. On 8 September 1986 FM released their debut album INDISCREET (featuring the hugely popular single ”Frozen Heart”) to great critical acclaim and the year ended on a high with FM supporting the white-hot Bon Jovi on their ”Slippery When Wet” tour. For the next nine years FM consolidated their position at the forefront of British melodic rock, touring extensively as headliners and also joining bands such as Status Quo and Whitesnake on tours to promote releases such as 1989’s TOUGH IT OUT album; TAKIN’ IT TO THE STREETS released in 1991 (with Andy Barnett on guitar replacing the now-departed Chris Overland); APHRODISIAC in 1992 and what was to be their ’final’ album, 1995’s DEAD MAN’S SHOES with new recruit Jem Davis (Tobruk, UFO) on keyboards. In 2007 – after a 12-year sabbatical – FM were persuaded to return to the stage for a ’one-off’ headline performance at a sold-out Firefest IV at Nottingham Rock City. The rapturous reception from the fans at Firefest led to FM quickly making the decision to record a new album and following a return to Firefest in 2009, in March 2010 FM released their much-anticipated sixth studio album METROPOLIS with Jim Kirkpatrick replacing Andy Barnett on lead guitar. FM haven’t stopped since… Headline tours both in the UK and overseas, Special Guest slots touring with Foreigner, Journey, Thin Lizzy, Heart, Saxon and Skid Row; festival appearances including Download, Planet Rockstock, Sweden Rock, Graspop, Steelhouse Festival, Frontiers Rock Festival, Hard Rock Hell and Ramblin’ Man Fair, and in 2018 their first-ever live show in the US at Melodic Rock Fest 5. 5. From Lions Pride Music: In the vibrant era of late ’80s and early ’90s, when Hard Rock ruled the charts and iconic bands were born in the lively streets of L.A., a lesser-known yet equally formidable force emerged from the heart of Germany – Wiesbaden to be precise. It was in this cultural backdrop that five talented musicians converged, forming a band that would redefine Melodic Hard Rock. Thus, SHEELA was born. Their creative hub was a basement rehearsal space in an old street house, which would later evolve into Markus Teske’s legendary BAZEMENT Studio. This studio would become the birthplace of several successful albums for bands like U.D.O., Vanden Plas, Dominci, The New Roses, and more. In 1995, SHEELA released their debut album, ”BURNED DOWN,” meticulously crafted and recorded at the BAZEMENT Studio. The album, showcasing a blend of powerful vocals, compelling guitar lines, and intricate arrangements, achieved instant success in Japan. Renowned magazines like BURRN and ROCK HARD recognized their potential, with the former awarding the album 87 points. ”BURNED DOWN” opens with the captivating ”LONG TIME,” a track featuring a memorable guitar line in the chorus. The album progresses through the anthemic ”READY” and the soulful ”HOLDIN’ ON,” leaving an indelible mark on the Hard Rock scene of the time. The success of the album paved the way for a tour and, later in 1995, personnel changes in the band. The success of the album paved the way for a tour and, later in 1995, personnel changes in the band. Their second album, ”CHANGES,” dropped in 1997, again making waves in Japan before conquering European audiences during a tour with Canadian superstars SAGA. In the subsequent years, SHEELA shared stages with legendary acts like FATES WARNING, won the KARLSBERG CHALLENGE, and made a mark in the USA by performing at the STURGIS RALLY alongside bands like STYX and REO SPEEDWAGON. The journey continued with their third album, ”STRAIGHT HEARTED ONES” (2001), featuring guest musician Michael Sadler of SAGA. SHEELA toured extensively, opening for heavyweights like NAZARETH, MANFRED MAN, POISON, and even sharing the stage with Germany’s most successful Rockband – THE SCORPIONS. However, like any great rock story, SHEELA encountered lineup changes, and in 2002, Markus Teske bid farewell, leaving Christian Moser as the sole remaining member of the original lineup. Despite the changes, SHEELA’s impact endured, with discussions and online buzz surrounding their music even in 2018. Described as ”One of Germany’s secrets,” the timeless classics ”LONG TIME” and ”BURNED DOWN” continue to resonate with fans, prompting a resurgence in interest. In 2023, SHEELA signed a landmark deal with Lions Pride Music, a renowned record label based in Denmark. This collaboration brought forth a reissue of their debut album ”Burned Down,” remixed, remastered, and adorned with a new artwork. This worldwide release on CD and Digital platforms reintroduced the timeless magic of SHEELA to a global audience, reaffirming their status as pioneers of Melodic Hard Rock. SHEELA’s journey, marked by musical evolution, international recognition, and an enduring legacy, is a testament to the band’s commitment to creating timeless Hard Rock that transcends eras. As we look back at the album that started it all, ”BURNED DOWN,” SHEELA’s legacy lives on, leaving an indelible mark on the history of German rock. 6. Debut album 'Portraits' out May 31. From Art Of Melody Music / Burning Minds Music Group: The band was founded a decade ago under the name ”Alex Mari & The Lovers”, with the aim of writing original material. Meanwhile, in order to create good chemistry between the members, the group began playing together on several live shows, performing cover songs of legendary international artists just like Queen, Toto, Police and AC/DC. After few line-up changes, the band was finalized with three members: Alex Mari (Michele Luppi Band, Barock Project, Ophiura, plus guest appearances as studio backing vocalist with Rhapsody of Fire) on vocals, Gianluca Pisana on drums and backing vocals, and Sebastiano Barbirato on guitar and backing vocals. For their debut album, they established their new identity with the name, Night Pleasure Hotel. The first studio chapter of this very promising trio offers a perfect slice of classic American AOR, reminiscent of Survivor (Bickler era), Foreigner, Prism and Toto. The album features contributions from talented special guest stars – Michele Luppi (Whitesnake), Luca Zabbini (Barock Project, PFM), Paolo Caridi (Ellefson-Soto, Reb Beach, Geoff Tate, Krell), Gianluca Tagliavini (PFM), Roberto Galli (Michele Luppi’s Heaven, Danger Zone, Wheels Of Fire) and Iarin Munari (Red Canzian, Roberto Vecchioni, Paolo Vallesi). Night Pleasure Hotel are sure to become one of the best newcomers of the current melodic rock scene, thanks to their infectious sound, mixed and mastered by Roberto Priori (Danger Zone, Wheels Of Fire, Raintimes, StreetLore). The release of ”Portraits” is scheduled for May 31, 2024 via Art Of Melody Music / Burning Minds Music Group. The CD booklet features introductory liner notes written by Samuele Mannini (Melodicrock.it), while cover art and CD graphics have been developed by Aeglos Art (Wheels Of Fire, Platens, StreetLore, Raintimes, Room Experience, Nightblaze).
