DEEP PURPLE Announces New Album '=1' - BLABBERMOUTH.NET

DEEP PURPLE, one of the greatest and most influential rock bands of all time, will release a new album, "=1", on July 19 via earMUSIC. The first single will be unveiled on April 30 at midnight, a taster for the full 13 tracks of pioneering and rip-roaring rock and roll.

"=1" is the band's first album with sensational guitarist Simon McBride, who seamlessly slotted in when longtime member Steve Morse left due to personal circumstances. Since 2022, Simon has already played to DEEP PURPLE audiences totalling more than half a million people.

ith three consecutive No. 1 albums in their back pocket and a resurgent new energy powering them forward, this is DEEP PURPLE at their pinnacle. "Now WHAT?!" (2013),"inFinite" (2017) and "Whoosh!" (2020) have sold over one million copies worldwide, making DEEP PURPLE one of the most successful rock bands currently active. The latest studio album, "Whoosh!", reached No. 1 on the album charts in seven countries and charted in the top 10 in another 12.

I miss the days when I could actually understand what Michael Sweet was singing. :P Not sure if that's a "me" problem or a "Sweet" problem...

It’s not a “you” problem; I could barely make out a word while listening to “Unbreakable” last night. A lyric video is definitely necessary when listening to MS these days. Still, even not having a clue what he was singing for the most part, this is better than pretty much everything off the first Shitbomb album.

  4. From the Icon FB group (posted by moderator Drew Bollmann):

Ok here it is - Stephen Clifford on vocals, Pat on drums, Tracy on bass and John and Dan on guitars - from their recent studio sessions, with John Aquilino manning the recording decks too.

Note that this is a quick iPhone recording of a session to help the band listen back to their tracks. (This is not mixed or mastered)

We’re all looking forward to the release of course and I’ll do my best to capture some more studio madness.

Stryper’s acoustic project ‘Acousticyzed’ getting re-released

Back on February 16, 2024, Christian rockers Stryper consisting of lead vocalist / guitarist Michael Sweet, drummer Robert Sweet, guitarist Oz Fox and bassist Perry Richardson released their first acoustic record titled Acousticyzed. but in limited quantities. Not surprisingly, the album sold out pretty quickly and now Stryper have decided to re-release it in various new formats.

The following message was posted on Stryper‘s Facebook page back on April 12, 2024:

“We’re here to share a major update: the Stryper acoustic project is being re-released in new and exciting ways!

Initially, when we decided to offer Acousticyzed two-disc sets directly to consumers, we were extremely cautious with production. Since this project was entirely self-funded and independently released, it was crucial for us to assess interest before taking an even bigger leap.

Well…as you may be aware, the sets sold out very quickly, and we can’t thank you enough for making that happen.

That said, we’ve heard your feedback loud and clear! You want MORE.

We’re thrilled to announce a partnership that will take this project to the next level. We’re teaming up with a company to elevate the experience and bring you some incredible new products. This collaboration will allow us to expand our formats to include vinyl, CDs, DVDs/Blu-rays, and even cassettes.

Stay tuned for more details and release dates. We’ll also have these items available for purchase during our upcoming “To Hell With The Amps” tour (https://stryper.com/tour).

We are incredibly grateful to each and every one of you for your unwavering support of this project, and we can’t wait to share this next chapter with you!”

  6. Hall Aflame, the rock band which features Metal Church founding guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof, will release their long-awaited sophomore album “Amplifire” on May 3, 2024 via Rat Pak Records. Originally formed in 1989, the band garnered commercial success with their debut album “Guaranteed Forever”, which was well received by fans and industry peers alike and quickly found themselves opening for ZZ Top on their 1991 “Recycler" tour for a number of dates.  As with many bands from that era, facing a decline in interest for AOR rock due to the onslaught of the “grunge” scene, the band went on a lengthy hiatus and reunited again in late 2023 to begin working on a handful of songs.

Amplifier offers 12 new studio tracks and reunites Kurdt with original bassist Brian Smith, along with drummer Bill Raymond and front-man Scott Nutter. Regarding the album, Kurdt Vanderhoof comments, “This album came about as a project to document all the songs that we had written for the second album that never came to be. We revisited the songs and realized they had to be recorded properly. Then it blossomed into something much better than we had even hoped! So that led us into reforming the band instead of just having it be a project." Bassist Brian Smith adds, “I think anyone that is a fan of “Guaranteed Forever” will see this record as a new and improved "Part II" of Hall Aflame. Great songs, great production and we had a ton of fun putting this together!” Scott Nutter adds, “A good hard rock album should lift you, make you want to sing along and rock out! That's what this album does for me!”

From the driving album opener “Helltown” to the powerhouse outro track “Keeping Them All Away”, Hall Aflame shines with their signature brand of rock-n-roll. Tracks like “Ripcord”, “In The Same Gutter”, “It Ain’t Enough” and “Gunnin’” are filled with memorable hooks and melodies, while songs like “Pullin Me Apart” and “1974” showcase their unique, classic rock songwriting abilities. With influences that range from Bad Company to Thin Lizzy, “Amplifire” is best described as the perfect blend of classic rock with a modern-day edge!

    Track listing:
    01 Helltown
    02 Ripcord
    03 1974
    04 This Ain't Love
    05 The Same Gutter
    06 It Ain't Enough
    07 Gunnin'
    08 Pullin' Me Apart
    09 Long Way Down
    10 Keeping Them All Away
11 Cowboy (bonus track) [CD & Digital]
12 Paradise on Ice (bonus track) [CD & Digital]
