  1. The opening guitar of South Bay reminds me of the Sesame St theme song, too. Wish I was smart enough to explain why but...
  2. Only one missing is Bleacher from this one. I believe Hilljack Hannon is Mike Hannon on bass. Not sure why the name change but I remember he put together a project called Hilljack after Salty Dog and before American Dog.

    Commercials

Don't have the attention span or patience for commercials but there are some really hilarious ones that are masterpieces of the medium. They pop up far too infrequently but I'll put up with them for that reason alone.
  4. I like it. I'll check this one out when it is released.
  5. All over this one. I'm a huge Tora Tora fan. I can wait 'til 2019 if the product matches the wait.
  6. Agreed. While I like Mason's vocals, everything begins to sound the same if the backing tracks aren't varied enough.
  7. Nice. Hoping they hit Winnipeg.
  8. Babylon A.D. Revelation Highway album release party in Vallejo, California this Saturday. F**k am I pumped for this show. VIP meet n greet to boot. Danko Jones Nov 10 Brighton Rock and Platinum Blonde Nov 17 Udo Dirkschneider in Feb 2018
  9. Leather Boys is killer from start to finish so I wouldn't expect this one to touch it. That said, I think this one will be great on its own. Can't wait.
  10. NIce package. Would have preferred he flanked those bonus tracks with a album of new songs, however. I'm sure he has a heap of unreleased material he could have given the studio treatment to. That said, I'll likely grab this one anyway. If you have the chance to see his live band, do so. This is no bare bones touring unit. It is a full blown affair and they put on a bombastic show!
  11. Just confirming this wasn't reissued with bonus tracks or something.
  12. I've been spinning this one regularly. Some pretty harsh reviews in this thread but I'm loving it. It may not match their three previous albums but there are some killer tunes on this one that I like better than some of their older stuff. I Got What You Want is my least favorite but that banter at the end of the song turns it into a must listen spin every time out. Hilarious! Lyrically I think Pussy Ain't Free, Walk of Shame and Wrong Side of the Tracks are clever enough. Pussy is probably my favorite song on Lower the Bar next to the electric remix of That's When You Came In which is a monster hit and one of my all time SP faves. Poontang Boomerang is a catchy fun track and goes over great live. I think musically this album is quite diverse and I can say I like every song with She's Tight being the only one I would skip over on a regular basis. Just my opinion, but I think those of you who have written off this one, should give it a few more spins. It's definitely a grower. I really can't see anyone who liked their first three cds not liking this one after repeated spins.
  13. Hasn't this been out for a year now?
  14. Two cool songs. I'll keep an eye out for this one.
  15. I'd buy a new blazer just for HS. "Never Was A Forever" still tops my list of favorite 2017 tracks. Great song from a great band!
  16. Wow! That is different. Autograph, it certainly isn't, though without Plunkett there singing, playing, writing, producing etc. I never expected it to sound even remotely like their back catalogue. I like Daniels as a vocalist and Lynch as a guitarist so I'll be picking this one up hoping for a cool hybrid of Jailhouse and Autograph. Also, hope there is enough material here to justify picking it up if you already have their ep. TBD.
  17. Can't solve that riddle for ya, 'cause my boy band vocabulary is limited to that cover tune Steel Panther did of I Want it That Way. But similarly related, Take That, to my knowledge were never as big in North America as overseas so whatever that side of the pond digs, doesn't always climb the charts our way. I had heard of Take That (mainly because I'd continually see their cds over the years in the local pawn shops) but had never heard their music and had no clue how huge they were until I saw them in Dublin. My wife is the biggest Pet Shop Boys fan so we went to see them open and bailed right after they finished but their was a huge crowd there at a sold out Croke Park to see the headliners. Go figure.
  18. Infinitely more exciting than the actual Barenaked Ladies.
  19. Like it and still love their tongue in cheek band name.
  20. Brighton Rock and Platinum Blonde in Nov.
  21. Thanks for posting. Colour me interested.
  22. Totally into this one. I can hear their roots in it. As stated; chorus could be slicker but as is I am really excited to hear the rest of this album. Their first two cds were so ridiculously good, comparing Revelation Highway to them is really unfair to begin with. I think it is a good representation of what they should sound like in 2017. And since this is a BAD thread, I will take this opportunity to once again shamelessly sing the praises of their Persuaders cd. What a monster disc!! Not as crunchy as BAD but killer hooks abound.
  23. I guess when all you hear is the negativity surrounding its release, you throw all expectations out the window. Having heard it now I can say I like it.
