1. Here's to Us is one of my favorite songs this year. If it's a digital release, I'll likely cherrypick my faves at Itunes. Hopefully a physical release is in the works though. Never heard No Love Lost. I'll have to check them out.
2. Very interested in a Silvertide resurrection. Loved the debut! The singer's post Silvertide outfit (Sinai?) had a decent track I remember, too.
3. I'll be all over the Roxy Blue releases when they are available. When that is exactly I don't know. Hopefully before Christmas so Sanny Claus leaves them under my tree. Likely go with the deluxe version with all 3 discs and a T unless the price is outta bounds. Having never played guitar, I'd really like to know; is Sid Fletcher really as good as I think he is? Opinions?
4. Liking this. Saw them open for Tesla a coupla years ago. Great live band but can't say any songs really stood out for me personally. Only recently picked up their first disc and was pleasantly surprised by it. I had heard 100 in a 55 and thought it was okay but ended up really liking the entire album.
5. Haven't had the time to compile a list proper but one of my absolute favorite tunes from this year is Star City Meltdown's Here's to Us! Seems their latest album Music = War is due out next week. Look out!
6. Very interested in this. I'll have check out the samples but I love everything associated with Keifer's name.
7. Is the 4 song ep available on cd or just download? Only recently picked up Smoke and Mirrors and I thought it rocked! High hopes for these four tracks...
8. Count me amongst those who care. Great band!!! Can Bieler and Kramer coexist for longer than a beer commercial? Who knows? But I believe this is the 20th anniversary of the release of The Lizard which contained their biggest commercial hit so maybe that is a motivating factor. Thought I googled the event and read about them hoping to record some new tunes together if it didn't blow up in their faces first. Anyone heard Kramer's War and Peas? What's that like?
9. The 5 track ep is available on cd here: http://tsar.storenvy.com/products/569559-the-dark-stuff-e-p-compact-disc Apparently they also did a cover version of the Olsen twin's song Pool Party but it was released on vinyl only. Curious to hear what they did with that.
10. Always liked Michael Franano's The Front. He has released a live cd recorded in NYC from 1990. If anyone is interested you can order it at the link below: http://thefrontband.net/
11. No clue whether this link will work or not but it's on youtube if it doesn't. Lead off single is Police Station. Cool track. I really like this band. Debut was awesome and although the followup was more garage punk than power pop, I liked it, too. Nice to hear they're back.
12. Got the Namesake disc last night and listened to it from start to finish in my car today. Not a weak song to be found! Incredibly catchy stuff!
13. Coincidently I was just thinking the same thing about this band. I picked up Secret last week and while it is far from horrible, it just doesn't come close to Surgery. I really love tracks 3 and 4 and the rest have their moments but the biggest issue for me is it has no balls. I like plenty of sugary pop punk but this one woulda benefited from more crunch. By the sounds of things, their latest takes it a step further still...in the wrong direction. Pass for me.
14. So sorry for your loss. Went through similar circumstances before putting down our 14 and a half year old chocolate lab Shamus. Never an easy thing. God bless.
15. He left to concentrate on a producing and writing songs for other bands.
16. Not sure what to make of Bad City at this point. Guitarist Tom Schleiter (who wrote or cowrote the majority of Wasteland) is no longer involved and Alec Cyganowski's vocal delivery (which I really like in Bad City's precursor Powerspace) is quite different from Josh Caddy. Don't even know if the band is continuing on but I hope so. I would welcome a follow up cd.
17. Namesake sounds HUGE from the Itunes snippets. Ordering the physical release from Amazon later today. Thanks for tip.
18. Thanks for the heads up on this one, Geoff. Looking forward to hearing the entire album. Any idea when it is released? Hope the rest of it packs a little more punch. While I like songs 1 and 3, I would really like to see them crank it up on a few more tracks. Sticking with the power pop vibe. Check out Transmit Now's new digital only release 1955 on Itunes and let me know what you think.
19. Warrant Dog Eat Dog Bad City Welcome to the Wasteland
20. All Over Now is my all time favorite GW song, too.
21. Tough one. Such a fantastic and consistent back catalogue to choose from. My favorite tunes are probably on Once Bitten but it's Hooked I find myself listening to most often.
