  1. Marla, aka MJ, aka Bubbasmama will be missed. I haven't been active in a while but I heard she had passed and wanted to make sure those who knew her were aware. She was a great lady with great taste in music. RIP
  2. For me it's been a better modern rock year than anything else. 1. New Medicine - Race You To The Bottom (might possibly be 2010, but it's the best thing I've heard all year!) 2. Sixx AM - This Is Gonna Hurt 3. Black Stone Cherry - Between The Devil 4. Adelitas Way - Home School Valedictorian 5. Stealing Eden - Truth In Tragedy 6. Theory of a Deadman - Truth Is 7. Egypt Cental - White Rabbit 8. Night Ranger - Somewhere In California
  3. Great CD all the way through. Love the song Brother too. Give it a second listen Geoff. This could be the album of the year for me.
  4. I was a huge fan after hearing "Ain't It Beautiful", but this one really does nothing for me. I was expecting so much more.
  5. I haven't put a list together as of yet, but Shinedown still is on top for me. New Tesla is also coming on strong. I'm also hoping that Poley/Rivera will contend.

    Shinedown

This is by far the modern rock album of the year. The melodies are over the top. This could very well be the cd of the year for me. This cd and Saving Abel's new one are two of the best so far this year. Highly, highly recommended.
  7. Saving Abel - S/T Great CD from beginning to end. Highly recommended.
  8. The Showdown - Temptation Come My Way Solid slab of modern rock. Great guitar work, solid bunch of songs.
  9. A personal favorite of mine. Not the best lyrically, but I love the 80's sound.... Saliva - Blood Stained Love Story Pink Cream 69 - In10sity
  10. "Once everything is all done i will explain everything from start to finish and then maybe everyone will understand and see exactly what went on." My first post in this thread. Here's the problem. Lonnie has the chance to explain everything, but keeps putting it off. Why? Is he hiding something? You bet your ass he is. Why wouldn't someone defend themselves if they had the opportunity to do so? Sorry Lonnie, just like everyone else here, I'm not buying your b.s. either. Be a man, stand up, and clear the air. Tell the whole community had badly you f**ked up. Keeping what happened a secret is NOT helping you one bit.
  11. I don't know......Since Sam is the CEO of Retrospect and this is the Retrospect thread, I though this would be the appropriate place for it. When Sam starts telling people (customers) to STFU, it would seem newsworthy. If the CEO of Walmart said that to a customer......well, just imagine. Sam also admits to not having the legal rights from the labels to do the reissues, using the excuse that "he" believes the musicians should own the rights. I figured that alone was worth the read. If you don't want to read that "crap", don't. I just think that people ought to know.
  12. This time it's over at the melodicrock.com noticeboard. If he didn't attack everyone, his business might just be as good as he claims it is.
  13. Thumbs up on all of them. Whether you like Poison or not, that cd helped bring hair metal into the mainstream. All three are classics in my opinion.
  14. Today...... Van Halen (The David years) Motley Crue Guns and Roses Tomorrow, who knows
  15. I would love to see Heaven's Edge - "Missing Pieces" get a proper release. There's a bootleg of the demos floating around and the quality is pretty bad. Any chance of that happening?
  16. Thanks guys. Time to grab a beer (or three) and read the madness.
  17. Can someone link the original thread that started the Sean Kaufman craze? I was away when that all started and I never got to see the initial craziness. Thanks, and.... PLEASE REPLY NOW
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Playstation-3-PS3...1QQcmdZViewItem This one just sold. It was over $3000 and then someone retracted their bid. People are out of their f'ing minds.
  19. Jim and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Jim suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled Jim out. When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act, she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable. When she went to tell Edna the news, she said, "Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged. Since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of another patient, I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness. The bad news is that Jim, the patient you saved, hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead." Edna replied, "He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry." "How soon can I go home?"

    Books

Mostly I read James Patterson. His Alex Cross books are great, especially the earlier ones. His more recent Cross books have been hit and miss. He also has a series about a woman detective named Lindsey Boxer. I just finished the fifth installment. If you don't know who Patterson is, "Kiss The Girls" and "Along Came a Spider" were both movies. I'm currently reading Runaway Jury. Somehow I seem to have never seen the movie, so I figured I would read the book first. Good stuff.
  21. After reading the first post over and over, I would swear that glockose was ripping Sam for selling boots. Anyone else get the same impression?
