  1. Yep. Two wildcard races tied on the last day of the season, and BOTH result in the #1 and #2 collapses of all time (Boston was 9 games up on the Rays at the beginning of September, and the Braves were 8.5 games up on the Cardinals). Nothing gives me warmer fuzzies than watching the Braves die a slow horrific death... expect maybe when the Phillies did it to the Mets a few years ago.
  2. Of this year's nominees, I went with Heart. Easily one of the most influential if not the most influential female-fronted bands ever. The fact that Rush is not in the HoF (are they somehow ineligible because they're Canadian?) makes the entire thing a joke. Sheer musicianship alone, regardless if you like their style or not, should have had them in years ago.
  3. Audio samples added for all tracks from the following: Motherlode - Tomorrow Never Comes. 4. No shit. Great lateral, but the whole thing should have been null and void.
  5. I'm diggin' what I'm hearing from all 3 of these initially. Issa - The Storm: http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=5458&CDName=The%20Storm Kimball Jamison: http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=5995&CDName=Kimball%20Jamison Fergie Frederiksen: http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=1404&CDName=Happiness%20Is%20the%20Road
  6. Well, I received a call from Bernd at Connecting-Music and I think we have things straightened out. Bernd apologized for the harshness of the email. It seems that Davy woke him up in the middle of the night (the voicemail Davy left me was about 4:00 in the morning as well). The Vain samples will not be put up again, since Davy does not want anyone to hear the album before it is actually released. Whatever. I'm not sure what the point of advance promotions is then, but it's not worth arguing about. Note to labels, musicians, promoters, etc.: If you don't want outlets to put out any snippets of songs to the public for a particular release, you probably should actually let them know this. I can't speak for anyone else, but personally my mindreading skills suck.
  7. I just posted this over at MR in reply to someone referring to the Vain sound samples at HH, which I have now removed:
  8. Damn. Reading the subject line, for a sec I thought someone reported that Geoff died...
  9. I picked this up on Friday. Like most of the other "WalMart Exclusives", the bang for the buck is phenomenal... 2 CDs + DVD for $11.88? Are ya kiddin' me? I've only listed to the second disc (rerecordings) thus far, and it sounds freaking phenomenal. Definitely a new vibe with some of the instrumental effects, but stylistically and vocally remain incredibly consistent with the original versions. The production/mix is top notch, and Hansen is really the perfect Gramm replacement. There are songs where you can't tell that it's NOT Gramm singing... probably a better fit/replacement than Pineda was for Perry. One of the things that is really impressive is Hansen's range. Most vocalist's ranges deteriorate with age... look at any of the classic bands that have put out anything in the last 10 years (Kansas, Styx, etc.). In virtually all cases the vocals suffer comparatively speaking, as the lead vocalist struggles to reach heights that were easy... 25 years ago. Taking things down an octave, downtuning the song 1-2 steps, using backing vocalists for the chorus instead of lead vocals, etc. Not Hansen. He sounds really good, when you consider that Gramm in his prime had a pretty high range. Definitely a must-have.
  10. More added: Danger Avenue - Long Overdue Night Ranger - Somewhere in California Scott Rolaf - Light of Day Sebastian Bach - Kicking and Screaming Shy - S/T Skansis - Leaving You Stala and So - It Is So The Wheel - S/T Toby Hitchcock - Mercury's Down Uriah Heep - Live in Armenia Vain - Enough Rope Work of Art - In Progress XOrigin - State of the Art
  11. Lucas is an egomaniacal douche. These audio changes are absolutely idiotic. The addition of those "No"s at the end of RotJ is second only to the long drawn out NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO at the end of Revenge of the Sith in complete stupidity. It's as if Lucas WANTS these films to be turned into caricatures of themselves. Egads. -Dan
  12. I've been watching the movies on Spike in HD, and using that as a worst-case scenario, the Blu-Rays should look excellent. I'm holding off hoping for a Black Friday deal on the complete set. -Dan
  13. Long overdue, I'm adding a bunch of album audio samples to the main site. Since Frontiers has outsourced their U.S. promotions to a different company rather than doing it themselves, getting the promo releases in a timely manner is virtually impossible. Grr.... I've added a few tonight and will be adding some more over the course of the next week. Samples of ALL tracks from the following releases have been added: Airrace - Back to the Start Bridger - S/T Electric Boys - And Them Boys Done Swang House of Lords - Big Money Human Zoo - Eyes of the Stranger John Wetton - Raised in Captivity Jorn Lande - Live in Black http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/audio.cgi
  14. If someone wants to email the scan to me I can make sure it gets posted...
  15. Reading through this thread again after the dust has settled somewhat. Positive and negative firsthand reports on trades/sales is exactly what this forum is for, so no, I am not going to delete this thread. It stays. That said, the tenor seems to have calmed down a little bit, and the OP's admission that the intent was not to throw Adriano under the bus, makes it seem like the "Beware" subtitle was a bit much and might imply something to those who don't read further, so I have removed that subtitle from the thread. People will read and draw their own conclusions, both pro and con. For as much as the OP may have had or may be having issues with Adriano, there are others posting here stating positive experiences dealing with him. That's the point of this section. One bad experience does not necessarily tell the entire story. With various people stepping in and giving their perspectives, one gets a better overall picture. None of us are all good or all bad; the truth lies somewhere in the middle. -Dan
  16. BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! Could be a lock for Song of the Year!! Actually, some of the others are pretty damned good too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0DeIqJm4vM&feature=like-suggest&list=UL And the sequel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pi7gwX7rjOw&feature=related
  17. This may seem like an oddball request... if there are any board/site regulars located in Canada that have been thinking about donating to the donation drive, please contact me first. I have a request of a philatelic (stamp collecting) nature that I could use assistance with. Thanks, -Dan
  18. Anyone else ever encounter this? A vocalist that either has annoying characteristics or isn't very good, and logically you should avoid, yet you find yourself listing anyway, either because their strong characteristics outweigh the negatives, or the other aspects of the music make it win despite the vocalist? I'm running into this right now with Rob Moratti - Victory. As with every other thing he's ever done, he sounds like a damned chipmunk, yet like all the Final Frontier material, I love it. This new album is great stuff!... but every now and then I find myself looking around the room for Alvin and Theodore...
  19. Oh... you mean back when I posted this for Geoff the first time. http://heavyharmonies.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=27330&st=0&p=611855&hl=geoff&fromsearch=1entry611855
  20. My understanding is that the buyer in question is not a board member, but a board member's relative. Is that not the case? There's been some uncertainty. -Dan
  21. Very well done, both audio and video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-ZlRl1_4Ws&feature=related
  22. But there was no return involved, so this point is moot. Initially the seller was railing against the buyer for wanting to do a return. The anger is misplaced; it should be directed against Amazon for not following its own return policies and procedures. All that said, if the buyer is indeed a member of this board and has gotten a refund from Amazon, he should make good and return the CD to the seller as Amazon should have forced him to do from the beginning. That would be the fair thing to do. The seller should not be out both the money AND the CD.
  23. Ergf. 1. Let's leave God out of this. I somehow doubt he's going to inflict 7 plagues just because someone did a return on Amazon. 2. If there is an argument to be had, I think it is more so with Amazon and their allowing a refund without the buyer having to return the merchandise, than with the buyer per se (see below). Has the seller tried to communicate with Amazon in a manner other than an online fill-in form, i.e., picking up the phone, to determine WHY Amazon did not require the return of the merchandise as they normally do? Amazon, eBay... anyone who has sold there for more than 10 minutes should know that as a seller you are giving a 30-45 dey return privilege (depending on venue), REGARDLESS of what you have described in your listing. It's old news. It's one of the things you deal with as a seller. Rant. Rave. Move on. It's not going to change. Most importantly: until someone is proven to be a repeat scammer (and I'm sorry but filing a return through Amazon does NOT constitute being labeled as a scammer), posting a buyer's or seller's private information here on the board is a no-no. -Dan
  24. To filter low feedback go to your account page and scroll down to Buyer Requirements. Scroll down to the box that says apply this block to buyers who have a feedback score of "dropdown box" or lower. The limit is 5. Then click apply. That should work. Thanks for the info that should do the trick... You might want to doublecheck those eBay settings. You cannot filter low-feedback users. The only ones you can block are those with negative feedback. The setting you guys are looking at is for limiting the number of purchases that a low-feedback user can make from you. You can set it so that someone with 5 or lower feedback can only buy or bid on 1 item within a 10-day period, but you cannot block them entirely.
