  1. Full song up! GREAT chorus, not too keen of the verses which sound quite old-school (rap)...anyway if this is anything to go by for the new album I'm excited! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_MEXq_XNFI
  2. Just when I completely got into this band their singer leaves...bummer! BUT Sam Ryder, their guitarist and singer of The Morning After is stepping up to the mic and I gotta say their new track 'Out of Control' sounds pretty good! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOZsaTcLal4
  3. That's funny because I love the 'nah nah nah's' in that song! But then again, I don't mind 'em in any particular song and 'Hey Jude' for example wouldn't be half as good as it is without that great outro imo...
  4. Definately looking forward to this one! I still think 3 out of the 5 studio tracks on 'Time for Annihilation' are the best they've ever written and I hope they manage to continue in the same spirit. Papa Roach to me are one of the prime examples how rock-music re-evolved back to a more melodic (some might call it 80s-) approach over the last couple of years. Loathed this band when they got big with 'Last Resort' and that stupid rap-thing, but since 'Paramour Sessions' I dig this band a lot!
  5. If you're talkin about 'Cruisin' California' I agree! always liked their serious / more grown-up songs better...
  6. Judging from the stream of the whole album, their newbie is again more rock and less punk. Gotta say I like some of the new tunes a lot! Could appeal to quite a few people on this board...
  7. I like Raining Rock a lot better than their debut: tighter production, bigger songs and just plain more hooks to my ears! Basically I'd echo Geoff's statement but without that strange half-anti Halestorm comment at the end
  8. You really have to wonder how damn stupid people who are responsible for this are, as it's completely pointless to press an album only not to sell it properly. And it's a damn shame cos it's actually one of my fave 'modern' albums of 2011...
  9. Hmmm very strange! I bought a copy over a year ago through Omega Order, but it seems as if this disc has vanished from every store. Just checked a copule of other online stores and they all carry it as either 'out of stock' or a 'pre-order'. Anyway there are definately physical copies out there!
  10. After two spins I'd pretty much agree with everything you said in your review (nicely written by the way, with a good dose of humor! ), but to my ears 'Get it on' is one of those fillers. I was hoping for some more complex songs like they did on 'Hear!' as I've always loved their bridges and pre-chorus' parts. Anyway great to have these guys back and here's hoping for some more albums by Trixter! Given the energy and production of this disc I'd actually buy a copy of their re-recorded debut album if they'd ever consider doing this.
  11. Yes, you should! I was a big fan of this band and I'm quite disappointed from the samples over @melodicrock.com...
  12. I never hate albums and it goes beyond me how anyone can do so...if you don't like it, don't listen to it And this could be the case with this one for me! I still prefer the debut over Wig Wamania, but I agree with everything else you said!

A bit surprised to see all the hate for 'Downtown'...although I think the chorus is much better when it's played like in the bridge and at the end (drums not on every count). I'm split on this one. Totally agree with Rick that the weakest moment of the CD is 'Downtown' and 'In the night' (even though 'In the night' should be awesome, it's just okay). I was also ready to skip 'Downtown' but it's an odd track. There is actually a section about 3/4 in where it's pretty good. It could be a grower - that song - so I'll see how I go. Surprised some people don't dig those first few songs. They're actually pretty similar back to back, but I did like the first 3 songs a lot. More people should be talking about how good 'Only the dead' is. That's probably the section I had in mind as well I love 'Whiskey Tango Foxtrot' and 'Riot Avenue' while 'Youngblood' is around the middle of my fave-list of this album. 'Only the dead' is a real grower, great song! But then I already loved 'What of our love' from their last output...

A bit surprised to see all the hate for 'Downtown'...although I think the chorus is much better when it's played like in the bridge and at the end (drums not on every count). Yeah, it's one of the weaker tracks, but not awful. But that aside, there are at least 5 or 6 KILLER tracks on this, which means it competes with virtually any album so far in 2012, so well done guys is all I can say. I agree! And I feel that it has quite a bit lasting appeal for years to come...catchy, but not too catchy. Btw: Anyone heard the Japanese bonus track 'Red hot red blooded'?
  15. There isn't a weak track on the album. Period. I would never go that far about "Falling Down", but (like with the melodicrock.com comments) it's a slight disappointment when the first 2 songs blast-out of the speakers and then this one hits less hard. Nice song but lacking a big chorus hook, like the last 2 tracks. All makes for a bit more variety than "Freedom Rock" though and is a pretty killer spin from beginning to end. Althouth people are quite rightly saying this is among the top albums of the year (some of that is by default, given the sub-standard stuff like Tyketto/Trixter coming out), I still think they could've improved on some songs though, meaning it's not flawless for me. What you think this track doesnt hit hard? That intro is the best on the album?? & its arguably a heavier track than the first 2! Also the 'by default' comment is a bit weird...ive only bought about 10 albums so far this year but am already struggling to separate them....I know you dont like the Dynazty, but I absolutely love it and there are a host of other excellent releases as well (Destine, Shinedown, Halestorm, JSS, Crazy Lixx, Peepshow, Dynazty etc etc). Yeah it might be heavier than the first two, but it's not got as big a hook. The by-default comment is because, outside my big 2 albums (this one and Shinedown) everything else is quite some way behind. IMO of course... What's interesting about 'Falling Down' is that it is co-written bei Adde and Martin from Hardcore Superstar and there's definately traces in there, especially in the beginning and the chorus. Without the keyboards and a little more punch it could easily be a HCS song and I wonder whether it was originally written with HCS in mind. For my taste one of the 'weaker' (still good though) tracks on a great album.

  17. I know, right? Their songwriting seems to have gone to shit. I'm very skeptical about this one, after hearing those samples. Unfortunately I have to agree...what the hell are they doing? From all the samples only the title track sounded fine, some other tracks were horrendous. Are you sure we're listening to the same samples? Granted, I haven't listened to all of them, but the half-dozen I clicked on sounded pretty darn good to these ears. Not up to the incredibly high standard of "Wigwamania," but good nonetheless. Maybe I got lucky and just listened to all the good songs... Then again, I think the same thing about the new Crazy Lixx...everyone saying it's a duff album but it sounds good to me, though, again, not as good as their earlier output. To each their own, I guess, but as far as I'm concerned, if I don't get assigned the Wig Wam to review, then I'm buying it the second it becomes available. I'm completely with you on the Crazy Lixx subject! It took a couple of spins to really like that one, but now I love it almost as much as its predecessors. Maybe my judgement concering Wig Wam is a bit harsh I admit, there might be a couple more good tracks. Here's a short rundown on the samples: Wall Street – classic Wig Wam anthem OMG – Like the chorus, but think the verse is pretty lame Victory is sweet – boring to my ears Bigger the better – yeah it's okay, but somehow I'm pretty tired of these 'We will rock you'-styled songs Bleeding Daylight – this one sounds good actually Tides will turn – sounds like a solid ballad, still not keen Wrong can feel so right – I like this one, good one! One Million enemies – not my cup of tea at all, bad verses Try my body on – sounds like a fun track, but nothing overly exciting Natural high – one of the best tracks imo, love the vibe Things money can't buy – is this an instrumental? With the exception of 'Eruption' I only like instrumentals in Jazz, so no further comment needed I still might be getting this one if I spot it for a reasonable price. Which ones did you like?
  18. I know, right? What the hell happened? Their songwriting seems to have gone to shit. I'm very skeptical about this one, after hearing those samples. Unfortunately I have to agree...what the hell are they doing? From all the samples only the title track sounded fine, some other tracks were horrendous.
  19. The Offspring were a big part of my teenage-days and I still like them from time to time. Thanks to Dexter Holland they sound quite unique in their genre. I was pleasently surprised with their last album 'Rise and Fall...' and it seems that their upcoming album 'Days go by', once again produced by Bob Rock, continues in the same, more mature vein.
  20. Vocals are love/hate I guess... I like this disc a lot, probably not in my Top 3 at the end of the year, but definately Top 10. What a great idea to include chords in the booklet, haven't seen something like this before!
  21. The sample for the Japanes bonus track 'Back into your arms' sounds great as well: CdJapan I certainly wouldn't be mad if somebody shared that one
  22. These guys have a new 3-track digital only EP out. Sounds great judging from the samples. You can check it out on ITunes or Amazon.
  23. Crazy Lixx – Riot Avenue Now this is going to be interesting, as I'm going to receive Baby Jane – In the Spotlight tomorrow, which might make out to be a good comparison...anyway here's my first thoughts: 1) I LOVE this band and my expectations before I've heard first samples were sky-high. 2) When I heard the samples in Frontiers' press release I was disappointed. I refused to listen to further samples. So when I finally gave this my first spin this morning, I was pleasantly surprised. Sound is much rawer this time and so far there's a standout track missing, but their song-writing skills are still there. Actually I think after a couple more spins this is going to hold up pretty well against their predecessors. In fact I think that their musicianship has further improved and Andy Dawson is a fantastic guitarrist. So, here's hoping they manage to keep the band together and find themselves a new drummer/bassist. I wonder whether they are all newly written songs of if they've used a couple of left-overs from their 'New Religion'-session (they've demoed about 22 tracks back then), as the title track and 'Heatseeker' could as well have been on that record.
  24. I remember someone already posting infos about this band, but I don't recall whether it was over @melodicrock or here, so I figured I'd do it anyway I'd say if you throw Def Leppard, AC/DC and Nickelback in a blender, you'd get Hard Honey as a result. Judge for yourself, but these songs sound pretty good to my ears: Hard Honey
  25. Anybody picked this one up? It took a couple of spins for me, but it is once again a great album with some fantastic stand-out tracks (Lost for Words, Sometimes, Hold On)! Production is huge as well.
