  1. Got this one in the mail today (along with Rick Springfield's newbie) and love it! I also love "Crossroads Moment", but this one sounds much fresher to me and has that urgency which CM was lacking a little. Erik Martensson really nailed that guitar tune of Survivor, excellent production and some of the songs are nothing short of brillance. Although I think the last two tracks are a little weaker than the rest, this one is going to be in my Top 3 at the end of the year.
  2. New Hardcore Superstar album coming in February 2013, mixed by Randy Staub! First single is going to drop in November. 2013 is shaping up to be great (as were the last couple of years)! Plus there's two 'bigger' bands, namely Airbourne and Steel Panther, who are going to release their third albums as well (okay, I'm not 100% sure on Steel Panther, but here's hoping ).
  3. Somehow assembled all kinda bonus-tracks via Youtube and hell do I get a very nice Hardcore Superstar-feel of '9th life' - great song! Also liking 'You gotta want it' a lot. And after listening to this disc a lot in the car lately, I think it's their best effort yet or at least on par with 'Paramour Sessions' and 'Time for Annihilation'.
  4. So it was Halestorm's turn yesterday...and yeah you were totally right! Fantastic sound, Lzzy in top form and great interaction with the crowd. Arejay is one hell of a drummer and showman and could as well be this generation's Tommy Lee! The only downpoint (besides Heaven's Basement not playing as support act) would be the length, which was only about 70 minutes. Steel Panther still on top for me...
  5. Nice! Looking forward to this one...oh and the album cover ain't shabby either
  6. It's probably Steel Panther for me as well. Although there are still some amazing shows left for me in 2012 (Halestorm, Reckless Love...) I can't imagine any band topping that gig. One of the best bands around imo and fantastic entertainment all around!
  7. So what do you think about this album guys? Personally, I like it a lot and there are some terrific songs on "The Connection" e.g 'Still Swingin', 'Where did the Angels go', 'Breathe you in' or 'Leader of the broken Hearts'. But I think the production is much muddier/weaker than on the 5 new songs off 'Time for Annihilation' and the rap-part in 'Won't let up' is completely unnessecary and kinda spoils an otherwise great track.
  8. These guys have a new song out (digital only). They've changed direction quite significantly and now embrace modern elements as well, but I still like what I hear from that sample. Seems like they've signed with Warner!
  9. Good song, definately looking forward to this album! Love the old-school kinda 80s layer of this video.
  10. Ha ha Unspoken is one of my favs - see there are going to be some differing views on these songs, but at least everyone is praising it - good job by the boys me thinks!! Well yeah i can't actually call an 8/10 track a weak one, but maybe the rest are just simply above it for me, but who knows after several more spins sunk in. BTW, Erik has another project called 'THE FRIDAY NIGHTS', probably not for everybody, but it shows a bit powerpop side of him, I love the project. The other day I got the MP3 samples, but when I asked him, he said it's not ready yet and probably what I've heard is some kinda leaked demos, don't know, I asked him how to order the CD and he said maybe later when it's ready. So, you might want to check it out also because fans of modern melodic rock should dig that too I guess, you can find it on the net for now Yeah I've heard of that & will definitely check cos as you know I do like a bit of modern stuff & love EM! Wow, I'd love to hear that. I wonder if it sounds like those handful of brilliant super commercial tracks on Eclipse's debut. They had some kind of modern edge. I imagine this'll be awesome because the kid knows how to write a hook. Here's some tracks to check out: http://www.thefridaynights.com/tfn/music.html Been waiting for this album since 2007, hopefully they'll finally release something!
  11. You know I really do 'get' everything Julian is trying to achieve with this release, but the sad fact is it is just weak. Sorry. I gotta agree! Really trying to like it, but it just doesn't grab me at all.
  12. I agree with you! "I close my Eyes" is a huge song, should appeal to every Def Leppard fan.
  13. Samples up for all songs at amazon ! I'm excited, sounds damn good imo!
  14. Got the album today and after 3 spins I'd say this is their best yet! They managed to bring in more variation while maintaining their sound and I really like the production.
  15. Wowser, never heard of this band before and we don't have to talk about how silly the band name sounds, BUT I like what I'm hearing! Apparently they've got a disc coming out on Frontiers in November and it seems like it is a physical re-release of their digital-only debut from 2011. Certainly not album of the year, but sounds like a lot of fun: http://genethewerewolf.bandcamp.com/album/wicked-love
  16. I think this one is overall more consistent than their debut ('Anthems of a Degeneration'), but their best songs are on there. Somehow 'A Sinner's Saint' sounds a bit same-ish. Definately check out the song 'The Last Icon' off the debut, if you like the overall vibe of M$R! And keep those first-spin-impressions coming, always a pleasure to read your thoughts!

New song called "Save me" available for streaming! After the fantastic 'Take it to the Limit' I already was a bit disappointed with 'All American Nightmare' (although it IS a very good album imo), but this new one leaves me quite cold after 2 spins. Not bad, but I really hope there are better tracks on the album.
  19. Pretty much agree with your ranking of the songs although my scores would be a little lower! It's the first of their albums I've bought actually as I've always been turned off by the falsetto (always liked their musicianship and riffs). But on this release, as you mentioned, it's fortunately very toned down...let's hope they get rid of it completely on the next album
  20. Well, my teen years were the late 90's / early 00 - probably one of the worst times in music ever (f.e. Crazytown - Butterfly, anyone remember that pile of crap??)! So back then I'd chosen either 1986 or 1991, but to somehow being part of a sort of Rock-revival in recent years (went to a lot of concerts and resurfacing rock-partys) is just great in my age, so I'd have to at least add 2008 and 2010 to the aforementioned.
  21. Good news: There was a message on Twitter that their new album is finished (co-produced by James Michael)! So it's probably going to be released around November as their last two records I guess...looking forward to it! Take it to the Limit is still one of my fave albums from the last 10 years. AAN wasn't quite up to par for me, somehow I enjoyed the production of TITTL a lot more. I did actually have a sneaky look on twitter last night and probably saw the same message. Really not sure how to read twitter or what is a proper message and all that. But if I believe the message I saw, apparently this album is very different and not what you'd expect? Could be a really bad thing? Guess we'll wait and see. Country and western lol................ Actually I wouldn't be surprised if they went into that direction...and neither would I be surprised if I hated it! From what I understand AAN was a huge commercial flop wasn't it? I'm a bit worried too Geoff!

  23. Just realised that there hasn't been a thread for this Swiss band and decided to start one. The Order have a new album out today and it might appeal to some of you guys...80's styled melodic rock with pretty good vocals. Check out samples on their website !
  24. New (unmixed) samples from their upcoming album up, some great stuff in there! I especially love the chorus at around 1.24 into the video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHvG3-UkCAA
  25. I'd go for tracks from their last 3 records only as I didn't like them before...probably like these: Paramour Sessions: 'To be Loved'; 'Crash'; 'The World around you'; 'No more Secrets'; 'Reckless' Metamorphosis: 'Lifeline'; 'Had Enough'; 'March out of the Darkness'; 'Nights of Love'; 'State of Emergency' Time for Annihilation: 'Burn'; 'One Track Mind'; 'Kick in the Teeth'; 'No Matter what'
