TOP 100 MOST ANTICIPATED ALBUMS OF 2011

David

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Time for my top 100 most anticipated albums of 2011. Something that I really enjoy doing and last year seemed to draw quite a bit of disscusion.

1. Trixter – TBA (One of my favourite ever bands and I have got the feeling they wont be trying anything too experimental, they will hopefully be sticking to the similar formula that brought us one of the best Melodic Hard Rock album ever released in “Hear!”).

2. Warrant – TBA (This could have easerly been number one as Robert Mason is my favourite vocalist EVER bar none! The reason Trixter just pip Warrant for most anticipated album is because Warrant have had a few duds in their career as apposed to Trixter not having any. I highly doubt that will happen with Robert Mason fronting the band and the first track off the album “Sex Ain’t Love” sounds killer!!~!)

3. Beggars & Thieves – TBA (Another one of my favourite bands and one of the most under-rated bands too. I think I had these guys in my top 100 last year, but nothing eventuated, but word has it that the band are not far from recording a new full length album. The new track “Stone Alone” sounds very promising too.)

4. Tyketto – TBA (From all reports another one of my favourite bands will be releasing a new album in the same vein as “Don't Come Easy” and that’s gotta be good :-))

5. Steelhouse Lane – TBA (What can I say about these guys that hasn’t been said before. To hear Keith Slack again with a killer as always production curtisy of the legend Mike Slamer makes my mouth water!)

6. Britny Fox – TBA (Another legendary sleaze glam band will releasing a new album in 2011. Reading interviews with the band, they will be recording the new album in the same vein as the first 3 records, may be even recording tracks demoed for the first 2 albums that never officially saw the light of day. Hope that’s not just PR, we’ll see?)

7. Marchello Vestry – TBA (A guy that knows what the fans want, a balls out rockin’ trip back to 1989! Last album was simply amazing!)

8. Wake The Light – Leave It All Behind (I know that I’ve been bangin’ on about this band for ages now, but their debut album will be released in February. If people haven’t heard this band before, check out the AMAZING track “Best Of Me” – Killer stuff.)

9. Work Of Art – TBA (I know people around here go nuts for this band and in my opinion, for a very good reason! Very talented are ready for the new one!)

10. Guns N‘ Roses – TBA (The news of the Gunners releasing a new CD in 2011 is very exciting for me. I think I was in the minority when I rated “Chinesse Democracy” as one of their best album ever. I think Axel still has it and if the newie is as good as Chinese Democracy – I will be a happy man!)

11. Farcry – Optimism (I think this was on last years list too as I loved their first album dearly. John Kivel says this album will be released very early 2011 – can’t wait)

12. Riverdogs – TBA (Not much needs to be said about these guys, true professionals that always release a quality product. Bring on the new record.)

13. Baton Rouge – TBA (Love’em, love’em, love’em!! Haven’t heard from these guys for quite some time, lets hope they return to their glory days. Just another band that I get good vibes about with this new record.)

14. Babylon A.D. – TBA (Derek Davis and the boys are back and will be releasing a brand new album in 2011. I have loved everything these guys have ever done including their last CD “American Blitzkrieg” which I know most people didn’t dig at all. It wasn’t up to the same standard as their first 2 discs but I think that was mainly due to the production values on the record.

15. Vain – Hot Stage Lights (Legends! What more needs to be said?)

16. Dear Diary – S/T (A band that I tried to hunt down to release all their unreleased material over the year on CD but though buggers at Eonion Records got to them first!~! This CD will be a collection of all their recordings remastered and package up to look and sound a million buck – can’t wait!)

17. Van Halen – TBA (Not the biggest fan ever but to hear these guys again together recording new material gets me excited. I really enjoyed their last album with Gary Chorone which I know was rare. This though will probably be the most interesting album of 2011)

18. King Korba – TBA (As we know, the last album was a complete disaster but I’m an optimist and I truly believe Frontiers wouldn’t have signed them if they weren’t gonna record something for their die hard fans.)

19. Ten – TBA (Another fan favourite around these parts and once again, for very good reason. True professionals that always know how to please their fans!)

20. After Hours – TBA (I’m so excited to hear these old rockers are back, one of the best British AOR band from the hey day, I now cross my fingers that the new record will be in the same vein as their early efforts!)

21. Mr. Big – What If... (All-star band that you know is gonna record nothing but quality. Reading an interview with Eric Martin, he said that the new album will be like a natural progression of the classic “Lean Into It”. Kind of what Nelson have currently done with their new record. But once again, I hope he is not just saying that to sell more records.)

22. Rhino Bucket – Who’s Got Mine? (I absolutely love this band, call them ACDC clones, call’em what you want – I FUCKING love’em!!)

23. Baby Jane – TBA (A GREAT new band that I stumbled across on MySpace. They have the look, the sound and the attitude. I also think they are from Sweden which is a great sign! No official release date yet but they have been hinting at a debut album for 2011, lets hope we see something great.)

24. No Love Lost – TBA (This band are amazing and featured in last years top 100 albums but the band didn’t end up releasing the CD this year. I really hope Andrew McNeice picks up this band for his new record label, they are super nice guys too. I highly recommend people check out their MySpace page and especially their song “Dirty Girl” – really killer stuff!!~!)

25. Taxxi – TBA (Melodic Rock Records will be releasing the unreleased album that was recorded for MCA Records and was suppose to be the follow up to the classic “Expose” album. Really, really looking forward to hearing this album)

26. Sebastian Bach – TBA (One of the best voices in rock is back with his follow-up to his debut “Angel Down”. Some say that Bach’s new stuff is the “Youth Gone Mild”, but I really like what I’m hearing :-))

27. Whitesnake – TBA (Dave Coverdale and the boys will be back with their new release and if it’s anything like their last album “Good To Be Bad” it will be something very special.)

28. Robin Beck – The Great Escape (One of my favourite female vocalists and from the early reviews I’ve read, she has gone back to her roots and recorded an album in the same vein as her debut and one of my favourites “Trouble Or Nothin'”)

29. Steve Augeri – TBA (I could listen to this guy 24/7, absolutely love his voice, I know I say it a lot, but another one of my favourite vocalists and singer of the GREAT Tall Stories. I can only hope the solo tunes are in the same vein as Tall Stories)

30. The Last Vegas – TBA (A band that know how to rock and do it with the utmost class. I only hope they can retain the same standard as their highly rated debut “Whatever Gets You Off”)

31. Crunch – TBA (Formally known as Adriangale when signed to Kivel Records, I really hope the new tracks are a continuation of where Adriangale finished off. Word has it that the new tracks are every bit as good as anything Adriangale ever did – we’ll have to wait and see.)

32. Shy – TBA (I love this band and absolutely love their under-rated classic from 1994 “Welcome To The Madhouse”. Hope it’s in the same rockin’ vein.)

33. John Waite – Rough & Tumble (The great vocalist from the mighty Bad English amongst many other band will be releasing a new solo album in 2011. Love this guys voice, it reminds me so much of the late 80’s, early 90’s which instantly brings a good vibe :-))

34. Casablanca – TBA (I think people know how much I love the work that Chris Laney does behind the sound board and he will be weaving his magic on this record too. Now, to be honest, I don’t know a hell of a lot about this band and album. I’ve just seen their very impressive single/video entitled “Downtown”. I really like the tune. I know Casablanca feature Ryan Roxie but don’t even know what label they are signed to. Does anyone know any more about this band/album?)

35. Tango Down – TBA (Second album from these Kivel Records recording artists, I thought the first album showed the band had a lot of potential, lets hope Tango Down step it up to even another level!)

36. Jetboy – TBA (The Miki Finn-less Jetboy are reportedly on the verge of releasing their first full length album in quite some time. I really love this band, they have got the x-factor that always keeps me interested)

37. The Poodles – TBA (Another great newish band that always release CD’s of extremely high quality. Always interested in hearing what these guys have to offer.)

38. Steelheart – TBA (One of my favourite ever bands that released 2 of the best Hard Rock albums ever in the early 90’s. I really should have these guys much further up the list but Mike Matijevic is very unpredictable, which could result in the best album of 2011 or the worst, lets hope for the best)

39. Dare – Seven (The great Dare? Well, they were great early in their career, I really hope just like 99% of Melodic Rock fans that they have a return to their vintage form and produce another “Blood From Stone” type album, I’m not holding my breath though.)

40. Beretta Jane – TBA (Another band that I stumbled across on MySpace which sound AMAZING!! Can’t wait for the debut album.)

41. Alien – TBA (Another band that oozes class and once again fingers crossed for an album like the killer debut)

42. Sinai – TBA (Similar kind of story to Adriangale, this is the new band from the members of Silvertide. As most people know, Silvertide recorded a follow up album to the CLASSIC debut record, but their record label never released it for some reason. Let’s hope the debut from Sinai will be a natural progression to Silvertide’s debut!)

43. Eden’s Curse – Trinity (There is something about this band that I really like, I think the production that comes with every Eden’s Curse CD has a lot to do with it.)

44. Dynazty – TBA (This Chris Laney produced band really know how to rock and do a great job of pleasing the loyal rockers about the way. The first album was awesome and I really love what Perris Records are doing)

45. Sandra Dee – TBA (Thanks to Eonion Records, all the unreleased Sandra Dee material will see the light of day sometime in 2011. These guys play killer sleaze rock, sunset strip style!)

46. Wanted – Too Hot To Handle (Great sounding band from Eonion Records that could quite well be one of their best releases to date, and that is saying something considering they are an amazing record label)

47. Dean Davison & The Bedlam Hearts – Our Unlived Life (Britny Fox’s original vocalist will be releasing his first solo ever and I really look forward to hearing were this goes. One of those albums that could go in any direction, lets hope it goes in the Britny Fox direction!)

48. Gary Hoey – Utopia (One of the best guitarist ever, can’t wait to hear what he comes up with on the new record. I really like the first single off the album “Only Human”, it’s a brilliant Pop Rock track that reading reviews has divided even his most loyal fans. I’m lucky that I’m one of his fans that really likes the new direction, having said that, I would rather him do a new instrumental album like the classic “Animal Instinct”.)

49. Pompeii Nights – TBA (A great new band and another MySpace discovery that look and sound a little like Baby Jane. Can’t wait to hear a full length album from these guys.)

50. Infinity – S/T (Finally gonna be seeing the light of day through Melodic Rock Records. This album will feature the material written and recorded before the classic Red Dawn album)

51. Fiona – TBA (She’s back and lets hope she does what Robin Beck seems to have done with a return to the glory days)

52. Chickenfoot – TBA (Album number 2 for this all-star outfit will always get my attention and is bound to be of high quality with all the talent in the band)

53. Holy Water – TBA (Apparently these guys have a full length album in the works and due out sometime next year. These guys are fantastic, remind me very much of House Of Lords – very exciting)

54. Circus – Coming For You (Glam legends will finally be releasing all their unreleased material through Demon Doll Records and I’m dying to get this release!)

55. Eddie Money – TBA (Thinking about Eddie Money brings great memories for me, I have loved everything he has done since his 1986 classic “Can’t Hold Back”. A real consistent performer!)

56. Vega – Kiss Of Life (Another very promising new band brought to us from Frontiers Records, I really look forward to this one The sound samples sound awesome!)

57. Magnum – The Visitation (A band that always interest me and always have something interesting to offer:-))

58. Aldo Nova – Too Much Sex (I love this guy, I hope the new disc will be in the same vein as “Blood On The Bricks” but from all reports, I shouldn’t be holding my breathe. I have heard that the new disc will be more like “Nova’s Dream” which I also liked.)

59. Kingdom Come – Rendered Waters (Another year, another album! These guys are a really odd band for me, I own everyone one of their albums and like them all, but there is just none of their albums that really stand out.)

60. The Outfield – TBA (This was a pleasant surprise hearing the news that The Outfield were back in the studio and will be releasing a new album in 2011 – can’t wait to hear what they have to offer)

61. Faith Circus – TBA (Really looking forward to the follow up album to the 2008 debut released on Kivel Records!)

62. Bad Habit – Atmosphere (Another band that has stood the test of time and another band that always offer up something interesting.)

63. Hurtsmile – S/T (Gary Cherone of Extreme’s vocalist’s new project. Apparently Hurtsmile have been a few years in the making:-) Is asking for another Extreme – S/T or Pornograffitti too much to ask for? Probably is:-()

64. Silent Rage – TBA (Jesse Damon recently let the cat outta the bag that there will be a new Silent Rage album in 2011. One of the great from the hey day.)

65. Kiss – TBA (I’m not a massive fan of Kiss but really enjoyed their last effort and to hear that they will be releasing a new album in 2011 is very exciting.)

66. Seven Dayz – TBA (Another new exciting band brought to us by Kivel Records. Hope this one will be released early in the new year.)

67. Eric Johnson – Up Close (A truly great musician that I always enjoy hearing from, this is bound to be something quite special:-))

68. Black Rain – TBA (I’m a big fan of these French Sleaze Rockers. Their debut album took me by surprise and their first single “Innocent Rosie” was one of my favourite songs of 2009.)

69. Moritz – Undivided (Now, these guys debut took me by surprise and I am glad to hear they will be releasing their second disc early next year.)

70. Stephen Percy – Battering Ram (From all reports, the 4th solo effort from Mr. Percy will be in parts songs that were suppose to be on Ratt’s last effort “Infestation”. That’s very exciting have loved everything that Ratt has done over the years.)

71. Jace Pawlak – TBA (New album from Kivel Records. I have heard great things about this guy and he wouldn’t have been signed to Kivel if he didn’t have a truck load of talent.)

72. Miss Behaviour – Last Woman Standing (New band from Hard Rock haven Sweden!! 80’s style AOR that could quite well of been much higher is the top 100 list but I haven’t been able to hear any samples off the album yet)

73. Mike & The Mechanics – The Road (You better believe it! I really love this band and hope with their 2011 release they can rekindle the magic of the glory days:-))

74. Tokyo Blade – 1000 Men Strong (Great to see these guys back in the studio and recording another album. Loved their early stuff and hope the newie is a reflection of the old skool!)

75. Planet Zero – TBA (Yet another new band promised to us from Kivel Records, should to be another top quality release from one of my favourite record labels.)

76. Adelitas Way – TBA (A band that I really enjoyed even if they are a little modern. Hope the new album is of the same quality as the last.)

77. Living Loud – TBA (Anything Steve Morse touches, I want now!! I really liked the debut album that these guys did and I’m glad that it wasn’t just a one off album. What gives me extra hope for this album is the fact the Jimmy Barnes seems to be back in form with his fantastic new solo album that he has just released.)

78. Danger Zone – Line Of Fire (These guys look AMAZING!! Hope their sound lives up to their look!~!)

79. Distorted Wonderland – S/T (Very cool sounding new band. Great attitude mixed with some fantastic production.)

80. London – TBA (Sunset Strip hero’s are back in the studio recording a brand new album with their original line-up. This is bound to be very interesting!)

81. Adler’s Appetite – TBA (Really dug the first album and super keen on hearing the next edition)

82. Talon – Rejuvenation (I thought this one was going to be released late this year but it now looks like we will have to wait until 2011. I thought Talon’s first album showed a lot of excitement and talent so I hope album number 2 is just a continuation of the debut)

83. Carl Dixon – Lucky Dog (Really like this guys voice and though his last 2 solo efforts were great!)

84. Beautiful Beast – Adult Oriented Candy (now these guys sound like something very interesting! From what I’ve heard, these rockers debut album will feature tracks similar to what 1989 hard rock was all about)

86. Toby Hitchcock – TBA (Pride Of Lions vocalist to be releasing a solo effort early next year. Early reports sound very promising.)

87. Prime Suspect – TBA (Sounds very promising from the samples I’ve heard and you can always expect a top class product from the great Frontiers Records)

88. Gary Schutt – Contingency Plan (Big fan of this bloke, I very talented musician and seems to produces the goods time after time)

89. Chris Antblad – Century (Another album that sounds very exciting coming outta Melodic Rock Records. Chris being the vocalist of prog rock band Spin Gallery. Apparently classic AOR with (dare I say it) modern touches)

90. Michael Monroe – Another Night In The Sun (The wirely old glam legend is back with a brand new solo effort. I have never fully loved Michael’s work but always had time for what he’s all about.)

91. Dirty Passion – Different Tomorrow (As soon as I hear the words “Swedish Hard Rock”, I instantly get very excited. To me, Sweden at the moment, reminds me of what L.A. was like in the late 80’s. It seems that most of the talent in Hard Rock at the moment is coming out of Sweden)

92. David Reece – TBA (Love all the Bangalore Choir material David has been involved with and hope the new solo album will be in a similar vein to the great Bangalore Choir.)

93. Duran Duran – TBA (I should probably be more excited about the new one from Duran Duran but the song samples that I’ve heard so far haven’t really grabbed me much. But from what other respected people are saying, I may have got it wrong – hope so!)

94. Petra – TBA (A really classy band musically that I really do like a lot. In my opinion, the bad point to this band is their childish God talk rubbish in their lyrics.)

95. Priscilla – Eight Lives Gone (The glam legends from Ohio are back with album number 2. It only took them about 25 years to record some new material and from what I’ve heard, the tunes sound pretty damn good! Keep rockin’ boyz!~!)

97. Oliver Weers – Evil’s Back (Another guy that is trying to bring back the glory days and I’m all for that!)

98. Yes – TBA (Well, 10 years in the making. Look forward to hear want these rock legend come up with in 2011)

99. Vicious Rumors – Razorback Killer (I’ve got a few of their albums, to be honest, they are a little too Metal for my tastes but ever now a again my ears pick up when Mark McGee blasts off with a sizzling guitar solo.)

100. Danger Avenue – TBA (I thought their debut had quite a lot of potential, really look forward to hearing what these guys come up with on effort number 2)

So there you go. I hope some of you can get some enjoyment out of this list and I would REALLY love to hear some of the fans most anticipated albums of 2011 or ones that you think I may have left out of mine.

I hope everyone has a really nice Christmas and another rockin' year in 2011!

Kind regards

Dave

Wowser, now that's a list! A few comments:

Trixter & Warrant, Babylon AD, Vain - yeah, totally agreed. Would love to hear something new from these guys. Add Tyketto to the list too. :)

Steelhouse Lane - WTF? Are you serious? Is this confirmed? Why have I not heard anything about this? I thought it was off the cards for good.

Marcello/Vestry - yeah, can't wait to hear another one from these guys. I thought this was due in 2010? What happened?

No Love Lost - yep, still hoping this one gets a CD release as it's brilliant.

Guns N' Roses? Haha! Surely you jest. If they release a new studio album in 2011 I will actually eat my testicles. ;) If they do, however, like you I'd also be interested.

I'd totally agree if it's some sort of replica of what the original line-up was, but I'm scared it's just going to be another Jack Ponti-and-a-bunch-of-other-guys project. I'd love to see 3/5 of the band at least, with Kelly Keeling obviously being an essential part.

... a new Vicious Rumors album? Now that's something to get hard about. :D

And Blackrain too? I think I need a cold shower!

Of the others, Work of Art and Baton Rouge are pretty exciting too. Agree with Geoff though, the latter has to include Kelly Keeling.

Great list Dave - wow you really put some work into that. Some very nice choices there too, many of which I didn't even reliase were on the cards for next year. For me, my most anticipated album for 2011 is the new one by Aussie band 1927. So far I've heard two tracks from it and it sounds very strong. I'm also looking forward to the new John Waite, Whitesnake, Toby Hitchcock, Work of Art, Marchello Vestry and Tyketto. Also the Taxxi album being put out on Andrew's label should be a great one too. If Crunch put out an album I'll be very keen to hear it too. Another interesting one will be Faith Circus, their first album showed a lot of potential but was just lacking something and I really hope the follow up can improve on it.

Any links to that one?

Yeah, of the ones not on the list Steel Panther and HEAT will be big drawcards for me, and on the modern rock front I cannot wait to hear if Yellowcard can match their 'Paper Walls' album. :)

Anyone who likes Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx, etc, etc, should be looking forward to that Baby Jane release IMO. Do some searching on their Taste Of The Underground promo CD from 2009(?)...very good stuff. Add some killer production to songs like that and it could be a top 5 of 2011 for me.

Dont hold your breath on 1927... when i saw them in 2001, they played new songs and said the album was coming out in a few months..

The album is close to being finished and due out early 2011. If you like the old 1927 tunes you should check them out on one of their current shows, with a full band, much better than the shit you went to see ten years ago. I've seen them three times in the past 18 months and every show has been awesome. The shows I've been to have had 200-400 people there, and looking around it was hard to find even one disappointed fan. Matt you really shouldn't write this band off based on one bad experience. I think the show you saw was a one off reunion tour wasn't it, and there wasn't even a full band, is that right?

Wow I had no idea the Babylon AD and Baton Rouge were even together much less working on new stuff.

Looking forward the new Vain(it was supposed to be out in September) and Tyketto and Warrant with Mason and Whitesnake.

Also the new Reckless Love I think is supposed to be out by Summer.

Can't wait to hear many more on that list up there especially any of the new sleaze bands as well as the new Reece solo disc and all of the Kivel discs especially FarCry, Tango w/Reece and Talon. And I'm interested in the Jace Pawlak disc as well.

I guess I should just say I want them all.

Anyone else thinking "I havnt bought everything i wanted from 2009 and 2010 yet.. how can i afford all this next year?"

Yep same here, there are loads of releases from the last few years that I haven't heard yet. I wish places like NEH and AOR Heaven would offer a discount to repeat customers. I've made a ton of very large orders through them over the last few years, sometimes adding up to well over $200 in one order. They should have some sort of bonus scheme where once you reach a certain dollar value not including postage then you get to pick a free CD or two.

Back on topic, I wonder if White Widdow will release a follow up album in 2011? Also I'd like to see something new from Crown of Thorns.

Steel Panther - only heard one track so far called 'Critter' as as you would expect is is way funny and killer!!!

Any links to that one?

Yeah, of the ones not on the list Steel Panther and HEAT will be big drawcards for me, and on the modern rock front I cannot wait to hear if Yellowcard can match their 'Paper Walls' album. :)

Here you go mate:

Great song! :headbanger:

93. Duran Duran – TBA (I should probably be more excited about the new one from Duran Duran but the song samples that I’ve heard so far haven’t really grabbed me much. But from what other respected people are saying, I may have got it wrong – hope so!)

I have plenty of albums that I look forward to next year but me being a big Duran fan, "All You Need Is Now" is probably the most anticipated. The samples sounds pretty average but I guess this is one of those releases that requires several spins to get into. Anything is better than their last release :)

Albums released in 2009 that I've purchased = 4.

2010 currently stands at 0 (ZERO)

Hopefully by 2015 I'll have all the albums I want from 2009.
