Time for Fat Freddy to jump into the newly-christened POLLS page! Heh heh... OK headbangers, which Megadeth CD is your favorite? PEACE SELLS gets my vote, followed by RUST IN PEACE and THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED. Bring on the commentary!

Went for "Countdown....", but I honestly think they've yet to release a true killer disc...

RUST IN PEACE seems to be taking the lead, followed closely by PEACE SELLS...

Has everyone heard that Megadeth *IS* going to continue and that a new album is in the works right now? Very cool news, considering that when Dave released THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED, he was promoting it as "the last Megadeth album."

The new bass player, by the way, is James Lomenzo, formerly of White Lion... odd

They've never said the true reason why James Mcdonough was fired.

I think MacDonough was a "hired gun" all along, whether he realized it or not... hey, I'm sure his spot in Iced Earth will still be open. :)

James actually had an eBay auction going a couple of weeks ago where he was selling a bunch of his Megadeth swag... Gigantour T-shirts, backstage passes, etc., etc. I don't know if it was because he simply had too much stuff and wanted to get rid of it, or if he was trying to dump memories of a bad experience...

Mustaine has been asked a few times about it and he gives the standard "I have no problems with James" party-line answer. Hmm, maybe there was trouble in Mega-Paradise eh??

I hope he goes back to Iced Earth. It sucks for JMac because he seemed like he loved being in Megadeth. Did you see where Lomenzo says his nickname is JLO.

Haha, yeah, Lomenzo claims people have been calling him "J-Lo" for years, long before Jennifer Lopez ever came into the picture. Whatever...so he may be the "original" J-Lo, but the "other" J-Lo is cuter :)

The first time I heard Megadeth, I didn't really care for them. But, the more and more I listen to them, the more and more I like them!

My favorite from them is "Countdown To Extinction"!

Now, you could add their new release that just came out "United Abominations" to the list!

Back in '06 when this poll was birthed in the sick, demented mind of Keef (Fat Freddy), I did not listen to Megadeth. Since then, my musical tastes have evolved to encompass speed/thrash metal (though usually of the modern variety) and Megadeth has filtered into my collection. Had "United Abominations" been part of this poll, it would've easily snagged my vote, because I think it's the best thing the band has ever released, but picking from the offered choices, I went with "Countdown to Extinction."

    • I'm sure you remember as I do the "Black and White Minstrel Show". These days it's incredible to think that this was considered wholesome family viewing at the time.  There's absolutely no way something like this would fly today.
