I was wondering if any of these groups/performers belonged on the site or not. I'm guessing most of these don't qualify, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask:

Jimi Hendrix

The Rolling Stones

The Who

The Cars

Fleetwood Mac

Joe Jackson

Motorhead (probably BrutalMetal material)

In a word: no. I know it's splitting hairs, especially since Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple are already here, but all the classic rock stuff makes me hurl. Next thing you know it will be full of Cream, Traffic, CCR, Eric Clapton, etc.

I'd sooner remove Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple than open those doors... (no Doors either!).

I have asked this before, but somehow it got probably drowned by the multiple pages on the first thread. I would like to know your opinion about:

THE MOTHER STATION

It's a great blues and soul band, similar to The Black Crowes. Really would like to see it here but I don't have a scanner for the cover. And this band:

UNDER NEATH WHAT

Has the look of a sleaze band, but the sound?

Any?

The Who and the Rolling Stones have R&B influences and I don't like them. Eric Clapton and Cream i think belong on here.

What about the band from OZ!

MOVING PICTURES?

Absolutely. Great band, they are similar to 1927 and others already on the site

Did they sing any songs I'd know, mate?

Of course you know 'What About Me', especially with all the hype in recent years from the Shannon Noll version. But Moving Pictures also had a well known single called 'Winners' which I think was written by Garry Frost when he was in the band, and later went on to form 1927. Moving Pictures lead singer Alex Smith also has some good solo material.

Oh yeah, great song. Loved it before Noll did it (and when he did), but really not sure that's HH material if I recall correctly.

    • I'm sure you remember as I do the "Black and White Minstrel Show". These days it's incredible to think that this was considered wholesome family viewing at the time.  There's absolutely no way something like this would fly today.
