eBay alert: J ARWINE, aka fentynja

Recommended Posts

This is the ugliest dead bidder I've ever seen.

3 months ago an idiot with id: redljma bought Znowhite CD off me for $30 and never came through with the payment (he got laid off, his dog died, his mom went to hospital, etc. etc.) At that point I checked his bidding activities and not surprisingly he had bid and won like 500+ CDs for more than $10,000 within 2 weeks <_< ...you can guess the outcome... that's right - he got NARUed shortly after and I thought this was it...

Well, it wasnt... today someone called fentynja won one of my CDs - guess my nasty surprise when I relazied it is the same quack J ARWINE from Red Lion, PA 17356. This idiot registered again and went on new "shopping spree" - just go and see what he has bought for the last 2 weeks! Bummer!

So guys, be aware and if you see this joker bidding on your stuff - block list him immediately!

This dude is crazy! (James Arwine) I have had numerous dealing with this guy, and even when he pays he is trouble. my last dealing with him, he bid on some of my auctions, (after I blocked his other half dozen id's, paid for half the stuff he won, left the rest unpaid), I made it real hard on him, I held the cd's he paid for and would not send them until he paid for the rest, I took forever to send his stuff, made him feel like he would never get it, then I sent them, delivery confirmation/insured so I knew he got them. Then once he got them he called me every name in the book and said he would never bid on my stuff again! FINALLY, he got the message! my last auction he stayed away. Every seller who values a quick response/payment should block this guy whenever they hear of a new id he is using. I have alot of friends who email me the minute they see his name on there auctions, I do the same, but its tough since he creates a new id every day. If you have heard him go off on one of his tantrums, it is something to behold! This dude is crazy!

How the hell do you look into what another person is bidding on?

How the hell do you look into what another person is bidding on?

On eBay home page look in the top right corner and click on "advanced search" (text link located right under 'search' button). Then select "Items by bidder" from the left menu, fill in the bidders ID, and check "Include completed listings (last 30 days)" You can even choose between "As high bidder only / Even if not the high bidder" if desired.

Hope this helps

Geez!

I just reported him to the safe harbor as "Suspended bidder is bidding under another User ID" so hopefully his recent reingarnation will expire within 24 hours AND eBay people will start monitoring for his returning IP address!

I see he won KRAZIE ACE Life CD RARE INDIE big hair hard rock 1995 fro Koogles.

Tony, Did he manage to pay you for that cd?

Yes, believe it or not, he DID pay for the KRAZIE ACE CD.

Yeah, I guess you were happy to be at the beginning of his tantrum, and he usually pays for selective CDs he managed to get for decent prices...at least at the beginning to collect some feedback... its snowballing after that and he ends up with hundreds of auctions to pay in a week... THAT's what I call a greedy person - wants to buy the whole eBay for himself :P

Well, anyway, eBay listened to my call for a change and NARUed him early this morning (this was fast, way to go eBay!) and now we have to start looking for his new reincarnation :).

I dont think he will abandon his crusade of buying the whole eBay :D and because of that I think I'll block (0) bidders for a while just in case - sorry newbies, nothing personal!

Possible J Arwine reincarnation: rabidmadman

This guy registered today and immediately jumped on my auctions. I asked him to provide shipping address in advance or I'll terminate his bids - he failed to respond and I cut him off.

I also discovered that eBay block feature doesnt work the way it says it does :angryfire:

Block buyers who:

1. Have a feedback score of -1 or lower

2. Are currently winning or have bought 1 of my items in the last 10 days and have a feedback score of 0 or lower

This shmuck was winning one of my auctions, had (0), AND still was able to bid!

I know that it's in eBay interest to have as many bidders as possible and that's why they let it slip, but I dont want to deal with (0)-es at the moment and they should provide a means for that. I know its unfair to all good newbies, but life's a bitch anyway :)

I'm going to write to eBay according this!

I just had this guy use the buy it now feature on one of my auctions, and the name he is using now is pttsbrgh2005

Oh boy!

So rabidmadman isnt james after all... but its another idiot for sure as I got my email box full with his whinnings for canceling their bid yesterday... and he STILL refuses to tell me his shipping address!

......is there any way i can cancel this idiot?

Nope, unfortunately you can't cancel winning bid and will have to go through the hassle of reporting NPB and requesting FVF

What you can do is report him to eBay as "Suspended bidder is bidding under another User ID"

The moment eBay NaRU-es him you can request FVF and they will grant it instantly to you (you still HAVE to apply for Final Value Fee's refund, otherwise greedy eBay keeps the money :2up: )

You can report him here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/rfe-pr...-suspended.html by clicking on "report the member" link

He has 10 positive ffedbacks so far on that name so I can only hope he doesn't start his bullshit with me. He has until the 4th to pay as listed in my auctions. I'll keep you posted on whether or not he pays. Got a bad feeling though............

He always generates some positive feedback before getting NaRU-ed because he is like bidding on 1000 items and cherrypicking to pay for the few he wins at favorable price.

I really hope he will pay you, but if he didnt yet I have bad feeling too :(

Lets hope for the best

    • Press release: Esoteric Recordings and Cherry Red are absolutely delighted to announce the signing of the much loved and highly regarded CATS in SPACE. Fantastically received by media and fans, and one of the front runners in the current UK rock scene, the band are currently recording a new studio album to be released on the Esoteric Antenna label in November 2024. There are also plans to re-release and rework the band’s back catalogue both physically and digitally. Formed in 2015 by Greg Hart and Steevi Bacon, the band has garnered significant attention within the rock press since ‘landing.’ Drawing inspiration from ‘70s rock, their sound echoes the likes of Queen, Styx, ELO, and Boston; loud guitars, huge drums, soaring multi-layered vocal harmonies and singable choruses. Moreover, the band have a compelling live show and a plethora of “purr-fect” merchandise. Members have performed with the likes of T’Pau, Ian Gillan, Asia, Mike Oldfield and Robin Trower. Lead vocalist Damien Edwards was Parson Nathaniel in Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds and also played Roy Orbison in Only The Lonely – The Roy Orbison Story. The band have toured with Deep Purple, Status Quo and Thunder and were guest artists to Bonnie Tyler at her sold-out London Palladium in 2019. Greg Hart says: “Since the formation of CATS in SPACE in 2014, the long-term plan, when the time was right, was always to sign our own label and catalogue to a company that could take our music further in every direction, whilst fully embracing that we are not a heritage act but very much a going concern releasing new albums. The team at Cherry Red specialise in being a good ’old school style label’ who take pride in physical product and have fantastic business in Europe, which we badly needed to explore. The list of classic bands on the roster speaks for itself, so to join the team was a very easy decision for us to make. We are super excited to be joining the ’Cherry Red Army’!”
    • Todd is a legend ! Just added up his solo and Utopia CDs that I have of his and came up with 25. And I still have a couple of his LP's as well
    • Ya I know but it's there no big right? Didn't notice....
    • New album coming later this year.
    • I had the need to go to Bloomington, IL, about an hour west of me, so this time instead of just thrift stores in that town, in the wake of the JL Records trip I figured I would check and see if there were still any dedicated "record stores" there. The last time I went CD-hunting in Bloomington was almost 25 years ago. Since pawn shops stopped carrying CDs, and I only got into thrifting since I retired, for the last 20 years or so almost everything I buy has been online in one form or another. I always forget that college towns *can* be good sources of CDs, but it's soo damned inconsistent. West Lafayette (where JL Records is located) is the home of Purdue University (39,000 students), and Bloomington, IL is the home of Illinois State University (21,000 students). Why do I always forget about this?... because I live in the town with the main campus of the University of Illinois (44,000 students... bigger than either of those)... and it has NOT A SINGLE FUCKING MUSIC STORE on campus. There's only one, way off campus, and it's absolutely pathetic. It's basically a 100,000 population community with ZERO music stores. So I've gotten away from thinking about those opportunities for CD hunting... which as it turns out, has been a major mistake on my part. There are two record/CD stores on the ISU campus in Bloomington, located 2 doors apart on the same street! They both opened 20 years ago this year (after I had stopped my regular CD hunting trips to Bloomington). I wondered if, given the timing, they were both owned by the same party, but no they are competition, but friendly competition. Each owner spoke positively of the other and recommended I visit their counterpart. The two stores are North Street Records and Waiting Room Records. They are very similar to one another, and yet extremely different from JL Records from my last trip. Whereas JL was 80% CDs and 20% vinyl, both of these stores are the exact opposite. JL stocked a lot of current releases in our euro-centric genres, whereas these two stores are more what you would expect: rock = "classic rock", with very little in the way of import releases from the labels we know. That said, both stores had dedicated "heavy metal" sections, although primarily focused on death metal and thrash, as opposed to melodic, power, or prog metal. There were some interesting items of note in their used sections. Where JL typically priced things closer to full retail (used CDs $10-15, new CDs $16-25), these stores made up for their lack of variety compared to JL, in lower price points: used CDs $4-10, new CDs ($10-16). I didn't have time to take pics of the stores themselves this time out, as I was a bit rushed, but I plan to make a return trip at a more leisurely pace (although it's always going to be a PITA, as the campus parking enforcement rigorously enforces the 1-hour parking time limit or you get a $20 ticket, so moving your car every hour sucks). So going over my store-specific impressions and acquisitions... outside of a few music blu-rays for my collection, everything I picked up was for resale on eBay; stuff that I thought had enough room to justify picking up. First Waiting Room Records. This store was the larger of the two, more brightly lit, spacious, and appeared to cater more to the artsy-fartsy clientele. More of an emphasis on jazz and world music. Vintage audio equipment for sale in various places. This store had several boxes of $1 CDs (6 for $5, 13 for $10) as well as a box on the sidewalk outside the door of free cds. I availed myself of both, this cheap stuff just more out of curiosity and experimentation than anything in my wheelhouse. Lots of CD singles and radio station promos. The vast majority of what I bought here were actually bootlegs. A local collector who was getting out of physical media had sold a spate of Russian 2-on-1 boots. These were very common on eBay in the 2000-2010 period, but have dried up since then. Only really of interest to diehard completists, but depending on the artist, they can sell for fairly big bucks. As I typically do, prior to purchase I asked "any discounts for larger purchases?" I learned early on that while discounting varies greatly from store to store, if you don't ask you don't always get... so I unashamedly always ask. In this case it amounted to 10% off, which basically covered the sales tax... better than nothing.           Assassinator is a local metal band, found zero examples listed on eBay     And the carton of $1 and free CDs.   Now we move on to North Street Records. Smaller location, more dimly lit, but more my speed. Proprietor looked like he stepped out out of Duck Dynasty... a bit reserved initially, but opened up as the visit progressed. Stuff was stacked EVERYWHERE. I know I missed things, so I know I will go back to look at things more thoroughly. More rock-focused than the other store. Lots of Mobile Fidelity vinyl releases brand new, quite a large selection of CD box sets. No $1 CDs like the other place, but the pricing was better to begin with, and the discount he offered at the end was better. What caught my eye was a whole run of 13 Todd Rundgren and Utopia albums. Not inherently HH fodder per se, although certain songs definitely could fit... the material is all over the map stylistically, from pop to rock to experimental and DEVO-esque. Historically, the Utopia releases resonated with me more so than his solo efforts. These, however, were all Japanese vinyl-sleeve replica releases from 2008, part of the limited edition 80th anniversary reissue series. Looking them up online on both eBay and Discogs reveals that they are in very short supply and some of them can sell for above $50 each. They were stickered EXTREMELY reasonably to begin with at $10 each. When I checked out, he basically offered that if I bought those 13 as marked, he would knock off most of the sales tax and the other titles I had pulled would be free. I couldn't argue, as that worked out to approximately 25% off. Not to mention that his marked price on the still-sealed Dream Theater Luna Park 3CD + blu-ray set was dirt cheap to begin with. All in all, at was a great trip, and now a more semi-local source to shop at periodically.
    • Hi, I am looking for a hard copy of this. If anyone can help, Please let me know.   Thanks,   Rick
    • New song 'Freefall' taken from the album 'Hypnotized' out July 12 through Frontiers. Tracklisting; 1. Freefall 2. Taste Of Heaven 3. Search For More 4. My Voice For You 5. Against The Wind 6. Our Time Is Now 7. Hypnotized 8. Tonight 9. A Time Around Us 10. Runnin’ Out Of Time II 11. Different Me Outside
    • The definitely do put some nice effort into their videos. Yeah, that release date feels like it was a little farther out than necessary.  I feel like early June probably would've been fine to still allow plenty of promotion time and a few singles/videos. I guess I get it though.  It seems like albums die and get forgotten pretty quickly these days so the best way to give it legs is probably doing a slow burn with getting songs out there before ultimately releasing the album.
