I wasn't throwing stones. It was more of a joke than anything. Hell, I saw where they sold the Keel - Right To Rock Japan cd for $275 so more power to them. My prices, I thought were fair depending on what cd it was. As I said before when I put my cd's in the store I had no real intensions of selling them because they are from my persoanl collection. However if someone wanted to pay those prices, then I would sell them and take a chance of finding them later. I might add that I did sell some very good cd's and make some money at the same time. Here's a few examples.......

 

Shotz - S/T Before the market got flooded with them went for $150

 

St. warren - Honest Planet went for $150

 

Child's Play - Long Way which I regret selling because I can't find it now went for $200

 

I could keep going but the truth is that there are people who will buy these cd's at these prices. More power to them also.........

Supply and demand. I'll admit that I sometimes blanch at PJ's prices, but then again I'm a notorious cheapskate. If indeed those prices are too high, the discs won't sell, and PJ will be forced to lower them. If you don't see the prices coming down, that means that the discs are selling and people are willing to pay those seemingly high prices...

Well..."waiting" for an auction to end that starts at .99 cents and "hoping" that you won't get sniped is a different ballgame than just buying it right then and there Sam. If there's a cd out there that I can Buy It Now on for $10 and then another auction for $3 and still running for 6 days, I'll grab the Buy It Now because then I won't have to sit here and babysit the computer until I win, or worse yet, wait for 6 more days to get it. Sure you pay a little more for the convienience, but sometimes it's worth it. If I'm in no big hurry, I'll throw out bids on regular auctions, but I tend to go for the Buy It Now's if they're truly reasonable

I agree in that I'll use the Buy It Now option if I feel the price is reasonable to begin with. Problem is, in looking at the prices for the KissMyDisc divisions now, I don't feel they're reasonable for the most part (sorry, but that's just my opinion). In this case, I much prefer the $4.99 starting price and taking my chances at getting the disc at a reasonable price in the end. I for one am gonna miss the old KissMyDisc auctions.

i am working for a low wage thus i use shareazaa or kazaa and burn my own rare stuff. could i improve myself yes but i am not very motivated thus i am where i am by my own laziness.

First of all, I'm not complaining (and I resent the cheapskate remark ). I'm just bummed about the loss of a good auction seller, one that you could trust and always had rare/htf/unknown stuff to browse through. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

 

Secondly, as I mentioned earlier, if I think the price is right, I'll buy it outright. If not, I won't. Simple as that.

I don't mind paying a "little extra" knowing I'll get a "little extra" in return. The common cliche "You get what you pay for" couldn't ring more true when dealing with CD's.

 

My impression of MINT and most everyone else's is not the same... MINT is "like new" in every way; hence the definition (which was originally used to describe coins, as in "JUST MINTED," or brand new!) PJ knows just how psycho I am when it comes to my collection!

 

That being said, I'm always willing to pay top dollar for that perfect gem that has eluded me... So long as it is in MINT condition. If all I wanted was the music I'd trade CD-R's. I collect CD's just as many collect art, coins, baseball cards, etc. I wouldn't buy a Reggie Jackson rookie card if some boy named Bobby wrote is name on the back of it before putting it in the spokes of his bike and riding around with it all summer... and I won't buy a copy of Bronx Zoo - Lustful Thinking if it looks like Bobby had his way with it, either! Not for any price.

Seriously, who cares who's right?! So, PJ's prices may be a little high at times, then don't buy them from him at those prices. And so maybe Sam sells Russian boots, again, don't buy them then. Wasn't that simple??

Don't miss the point here, folks. It may seem like another round of bickering and bitching on the surface, but this news of Sam's "label" (provided he can obtain the proper licensing/permission from the artists/labels) is actually a breath of fresh air and may actually be a step forward of sorts. Now, for the first time, he is taking a credible stand on whether or not his CDs are "reissues" or originals. By using words like "re-issue" and "official", I finally detect a trace of honesty and legitimacy in his salesmanship. We finally know what we're getting, provided he does this with full artistic consent (like Wounded Bird or SongHaus).

 

This was all I wanted in the first place... the knowledge of whether or not the CD(s) he was selling was original or reissue. I still question the reason for this move.. could it be out of a need to shed his "bootleg" image or is this label going to be an outlet for more bootlegging under the guise of legitimacy? Or is Sam truly trying to straighten out and fly right?

If someone is willing to pay $400.00 for an original Japanese pressing of Stryper's Soldiers Under Command, or if they'd rather pay $10.00 for a Russian bootleg that would normally sell for $60.00 because all they want is the music, it's all fine by me... Just be honest and make sure the patron is aware of EXACTLY what they're buying before you accept their money, no matter who you are!

I didn't think my post was antagonistic whatsoever....my reply to Genr8tr was an analogy to sellers who use innaccurate descriptions and a general agreement about where those kinds of sellers sit in my book.

 

My reply to Koogles was merited as well...as he has spewed forth through questioning that there IS a bootlegging operation going on...and that he would then question the label's legitimacy. That's not right. If anything....Koogles is spouting off with rhetoric again....
