CLASSIC THRASH METAL ALBUMS

Am really getting back into the classic Bay Area-influenced 80's/90's thrash again, & I wondered if anyone had any album recommendations for me... I have most of the obvious stuff, the full catalogue of SLAYER (including the later stuff which SUCKS), SEPULTURA, MEGADETH, METALLICA... as well as all OVERKILL, TESTAMENT, DEATH ANGEL, EXODUS... & a couple of albums each by: METAL CHURCH, ANNIHILATOR, VOIVOD, WHIPLASH.... But nothing else....

 

My real faves are OVERKILL & TESTAMENT. Anyone who has any album recommendations somewhat similar to these so I can add to my collection - as I'm currently just re-playing all my old stuff - would be very much appreciated...

You might like Forced Entry... pretty cool Seattle band in the vein of Exodus/Slayer. I have their AS ABOVE, SO BELOW disc from 1990 or 91 and that's damn good. Hades from New Jersey put out some excellent stuff as well (although I'm from Jersey so I might be slightly biased, heh heh)... try either one of those.

 

A more recent band that's playing the old school thrash style is HavocHate, check out their CYCLE OF PAIN album from last year. Greg Christian from Testament is the bass player in this band.

 

If I think of any more (not quite awake yet, no coffee in my system) I'll post again!

Um...geez, I've had more coffee but I guess I don't really need to post any more suggestions, cuz it looks like Relivinthe80s pretty much covered everything that I wouldve recommended, and then some! (Vicious Rumors? Good call!)

 

But in the interest of justifying this otherwise pointless post, may I also add the first two Carnivore albums (Self-titled from 1985 and RETALIATION from 1987)? These feature Pete Steele (now of Type O Negative) on bass/vocals and they are some of the nastiest, most brutal thrash ever recorded (particularly RETALIATION.) Lyrically they're not for the faint of heart either. Grrrrreat stuff.

I was doing some research and I've seen Exumer on Ebay it looks like they have been re-issued, also Assassin looks very good I'll give those two a shot next.

The Exumer reissues are very good & recommended I'd say if you like not to spend $$. The 1st Assassin is very good but the 2nd is crap. The 3rd is

One band I would recommend is The Coup De Grace. I think this one has class.

 

Maybe you already have this one but if not then you better check out Dark Angel. Definitely one of the fastest band.

 

Also worth mentioning is Canada's Overthrow.

I also need some advise on the rest of the TANKARD discography since it is quite extensive. So far I have the first two Zombie Attack, and Chemical Invasion. What are some of there better ones? From what I've read B-Day, The Tankard, Two Faced, and The Meaning Of Life are highly rated.
