Just bought '24' Seasons 2,3, and 4.

Got Season One for X-Mas and now I'm hooked like a Heroin addict.

My girl gave me 'Ren and Stimpy' and 'Beavis and Butthead' boxsets for Christmas, providing further proof of my outstanding intelligence. Damn that's some funny shit though. And I didn't expect them at all. I've wanted the Ren and Stimpy one on DVD for ages, since I lost the vids I taped off TV back in the day.

Got, as a belated X-mas gift the Upper Crust-Live At The Ottobar!!!!

Whats even better is that it is limited to 50 pressings, numbered and signed by the band!!!!!! (the official release is slated for March. Will have to pick this one up as well)

And it is the best live performance of a band I have ever witnessed. I hope they come West again real soon!

Being the horror buff that I am, I picked up "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" (Uncut) DVD the other day. A good bit more grisly/gory than the R-rated theatrical version, with nearly every kill having at least a few seconds of chunky red stuff added back in. With some of the uncensored shots of the chainsaw ripping through people's guts, it's not hard to see why this version was originally slapped with the NC-17 rating. Not for the weak-stomached, but a pretty solid watch for the gore-lovin' hardcore horror fan.

Picked up the "Saw III (Uncut)" DVD a few days ago. Best of the series and a perfect ending to a great horror trilogy. Unfortunately, they won't leave it as just a trilogy...

Picked up KISS - Kissology on Monday from Best Buy. Only the darn thing didn't come with any bonus material like I thought it did. :(

Watched the first disc yesterday and thought it was great. I only wish I could have been at one of those shows, but alas, as a toddler I don't think I would have gotten much out of it.

I got the Mest '7 deadly sins' DVD free with the 'Photographs' CD. What a f*cked up bunch of guys... and there wasn't any music at all on it, almost. Just home video footage. A bit of a waste of everyone's time.

Here's what I've picked up the last couple weeks...

ART OF THE DEVIL II (nasty little Thai horror/gore flick...scenes guaranteed to make you vomit)

THE EXILED (Hong Kong action movie, very oldschool John Woo-ish in nature)

MASTERS OF HORROR: PELTS (awesome entry in this series...suicide by bear-trap...NICE!!)

UNDISPUTED II (pretty good direct-to-video martial arts film)

THE FAST & THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT (a whole lot better than the second one, that's for sure)

Tuff - 'Video rarities'

Wow, I think I really scored with this. On Friday night I really didn't have any $$ to spare but I thought it would be kind of cool to get something signed by Stevie considering he was right there, and I also wanted to support the trip out to Australia, so I picked this up, admittedly, thinking it might not be so good. I've not seen it yet, but I flicked through and it looks killer. Live footage (not perfect quality, but heaps better than I anticipated) dating back all the way to 1987 - original songs I've never even heard of, there's the 'I hate kissing you goodbye' MTV video, heaps of band footage - I loved what I saw. I cannot wait to see the thing!!!

Here's my recent additions to the DVD collection...

WILDERNESS (British survival horror/action flick)

BARRICADE (German gore movie, extremely graphic violence/splatter)

THE MARINE (dumb-but-fun 80s-style popcorn action movie)

I picked up a couple of cheap-O movies from the $1.00 DVD rack at Walmart this evening... something called "Laserhawk" starring Mark Hamill (of Star Wars fame) and another called "Rough Air," an airplane disaster movie starring Eric Roberts (Julia's brother) and Alexandra Paul (of "Baywatch")... they'll probably both be terrible but I couldn't pass them up at that price...

Traded some old DVDs in the other day and used my credit to pick up SAW (2-Disc Special Uncut Edition). I've owned the theatrical cut for years now, and watched it multiple times, but this special edition has a few seconds of gore restored, as well as an alternate score which relies more on creepiness than the heavy metal of the original music.

Popped into Best Buy today and picked up CASINO ROYALE. Haven't actually watched it yet, but I've been hearing good things, so my expectations are high.

Picked up a Region 2/PAL edition of SEVERANCE, a British horror-comedy that's due to be released here in the states this summer. Maybe my expectations were too high after hearing nothing but great things about this movie, but I was disappointed. It was supposed to be funny, but I only chuckled 3 times. It was supposed to be gory, but most of the gore scenes were so poorly lit you couldn't tell what was happening. I actually had to rewind a scene twice to find out a major character was decapitated! (As a sidenote, the bear-trap scene was an absolute doozy and had me both laughing and cringing at the same time. If only the other kill-sequences had been that cool...)

So, to my fellow horror fans on these boards, don't believe the exaggerated hype on this one. It's an okay rental at best, but certainly not a keeper.

    • Not much information on the video's page, other than it appears to be an AI creation. Once it gets into the verse and especially the chorus, it's actually not too bad IMO.
    • While I appreciate your interest in contributing to the site, most of the artists and albums you are submitting are either REALLLLLLY stretching the boundaries, or as in the case of this band, completely off the mark. No alternagrunge. No punk. No death metal/power metal (although those can be submitted to Brutal Metal). You can always start a thread asking about a particular artist before blindly submitting it for inclusion. Thanks! -Dan
