They made their American TV debut on Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" a week or so ago. I would've loved to have been in that studio audience, I bet every person there was like "What the f***?" :rofl2:

I am the first to admit that I don't "get" this band at all, but then I am obviously not supposed to, since I am not a teenager, nor am I Japanese, so I am not their target audience. Sooo... hey, whatever. Good on'em I guess. (shrugs)

On the other hand... I've been known to cue up their "Gimme Chocolate" video on my phone to rouse my kids out of bed for school in the morning once in a while... because it's so irritating that they're usually up and begging me to turn it off within 30 seconds.

I also love the so-called "tr00 metal" people who get all butt hurt about this band and treat their very existence as some sort of threat or insult to the sanctity of heavy metal. That sh*t cracks me up. Yeah, keep on wishing death on a trio of teenage Japanese girls in tu-tus who are smiling all the way to the bank. You so tr00 dawg!!

Just got done listening on Spotify (It's free on Amazon Prime Music as well) and overall I think I like it better than the first album. The girls do more actual singing than on the first album, and the Dragonforce involvement gives the instrumental underpinnings more of a Euro power metal sound than the first album, which predominantly was death metal or nu metal instrumentally. There's some of that on the album, but not nearly as much.

More melodic this time out.

Physical CD is $6.99 on Amazon.

The new album is actually very good, if people actually take time to listen to it (which they probably won't)...a good mix of power metal, J-Pop (less so than the debut) and a couple of decent ballads too. Fuck the 'tr00' metal brigade I say and just listen to the music

Another one of the new tracks. Fullscreen it in HD. They have amped up the production quality of their filmed videos since last year as well. Since they've turned into a worldwide phenomenon, I guess they now have a ginormous production budget.

These videos just make me cringe. Every aspect of it makes me cringe. I dont mind at all listening to Jap bands, but this is silly. I also feel its so commercially setup, they are actually mocking the audience and anyone who buys it. A quick look on Wiki and each of these girls is from a Japanese talent agency specialising in Jpop girlbands... with each of the singers appearing in other "cute" girly groups. Only in Japan.

My daughter loves this song and video. But then she is almost brown belt karate and loves the Japanese language

Someone told me the other day this band was on the cover of a big Aussie music magazine and that they recently toured Australia? Or were coming out here. I was stunned, but I guess they have a following, hey?

Zomfg @ the size of the crowd in that first video. Just zomfg.

Anyway, same as before, if it ain't in English it's not worth my time so they are a "non-band" to me, but the first song has some validity. Some extremely good instrumentation going on with this band... and even though the 2nd song is all in Japanese that chorus definitely has a catchy melody.

But who cares. It's not in English so I'll stick with stuff I can understand. ;)

X Japan > Loudness by a country mile. B)

In context, that makes as much sense as Babymetal's lyrics.

Oh, and for the record, 'Soldier of Fortune' & 'On the prowl' >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> X Japan

Did you rated them already? I thought you were somewhere in the V section. Troo believer.

I won't ever rate any X-Japan albums because I don't own any. I owned a few cassette tapes back in the day, didn't like them one bit, and never even thought of revisiting the band ever again. It's mostly Jap lyrics anyway, isn't it? I just don't have time for that shit.

Regardless, though, I didn't think they were a good band at all. I don't like Loudness either, apart from those two great albums.

You keep living in the matrix Geoff but there are very few bands who have 4 albums as good as those by X Japan.

As long as everyone in my matrix is speaking English, I am more than happy to stay here.

Honestly, I can't express to you how pointless I find non-English speaking music. Well, I have tried to explain it and you can try to find those threads if you wish to read it again. It just view it as completely futile and a total waste of time.

Like I said above, I did listen to these guys when I had more time on my hands, and probably wasn't as angry and passionate about foreign vocals as I am now, but even then, I just didn't think the band was very good at all anyway.

Is it just me or does that "Karate" track sound like Lacuna Coil?

I get it Geoff, I really do but in the early-mid 90s something had to be done as there was just so little new music worth listening to. Back then I wouldn't listen to a band if the singer had an accent...hell even an Aussie accent used to put me off!!

I guess my musical survival kicked in. Knowing that I wasn't going to get what I was accustomed to or needed and let me see and hear past my own BS! So glad it did, I still can't stomach what was on the radio then. Thanks to the musical gods for Japan and Europe!
