Yep, agree on both counts.
The way covers should be done.
Updated, slightly different and personalised.
Either that or completely different.
In saying that, I heard a cover of "Only You" tonight at the end of Designated Survivor. Better than the original.
I'll see if I can find it.

Agreed! Also depends on the artist. Not a big fan of completely different genres doing a cover. Like electronic song being done without the electronic sound. But again depends on the band

They covered more than just Slade...

Actually their versions of the Slade songs are killer.
Perfect band to cover as the sound had progressed so much since the originals and the QR versions were, as Paul Stanley would say, more bombastic.

This one made me laugh even though I can't understand most of what of what he's saying. I guess it's not strictly speaking a cover but it's cleverly done. The guy is a popular politician in Greece

All you need to know about the cover is that "Alan" refers to Alan Bond, an Australian entrepreneur from the 80's who played a big part in the Aussies beating the U.S.A. in the Americas Cup yacht race (which was a very big deal down here). He was one of the richest men in Australia at the time.

It never ceases to amaze me how you can learn something new everyday when it comes to our music. This has always been one of my favourite "Gotthard" tracks and i only discovered today that it was a cover. I know they have many great covers in their back catalog, but I didn't realize this was one of them.
