NICLAS ENGELIN JOINS NEW MELODIC ROCK PROJECT GATHERING OF KINGS

It is with great pleasure that we can announce our fourteenth king. As one of the guitarists and songwriters, please welcome Mr. Niclas Engelin!

Niclas Engelin is most known as the guitarist in the swedish metal band In Flames. Besides In Flames, Niclas also play guitar in Engel and Drömriket. And just like all the other members of Gathering Of Kings, Niclas has a penchant for 80's melodic rock / AOR.

Gathering Of Kings can best be described as a swedish AOR/Melodic Rock Phenomena-type-project. The yet untitled debut album will be produced, mixed and mastered by Thomas ”Plec” Johansson (Watain, Onslaught, Scar Symmetry, Solution. 45, The Night Flight Orchestra).

Gathering Of Kings have now confirmed the following artists:

I'd actually forgotten it was still a thing. Just as I had already forgotten again since my last post. And I will again once I hit the Post button.

Considering the billion people selected for this project I'm a bit surprised by the vocalist (who???) as I'd not say his voice is great, but otherwise the song sounds pretty damn good.

Personally I love the Dude's voice (Soilwork/NFO)....but then I would ;)

Shows potential, although I expect we'll have to weather 9 more teasers and 37 more press announcements before an album is actually released.

Also, if as a "project" it means that there is a different lead vocalist on every track, I'm not sold. If it's this guy on every track, I'm in.

That's one reason that concept albums and other project releases with different lead vocalists on each track never resonate with me. All it takes is one or two vocalists I don't like to spoil the entire project. My ears like consistency...

Soilwork? Oh, yuck. I was going to ask what a NFO is, but it's your Night Flight mob, hey? That's a leap from Soilwork to that. And then to this. Either way, not a fan of his vocal.

I love his vocals, and he sounds great on this sample.

To be honest the only other vocalist I care for is Martensson, so I agree with Dan's comments - there are 5 vocalists and 3 of them will be a big ?

Having said that there should be some keepers on this as Martnesson is involved with the songwriting.

    • Seems another band I need to spend time on as this one is fantastic.    Maybe I’m getting old but most of my favorite albums from this year have been at the poppier end .  Top 10 for me for sure.
    • Much better. Thanks for posting this.
    • Highly anticipated release from one of my all time favorite bands!  I'm quite positive that their previous 2 releases will end in my all time favorite top 30.
    • Still no official release date (sigh), but last weekend Kane Roberts posted on FB "New CD 100% mastered and ready to drop soon"
    • Track list revealed. From melodicrock.com: BRETT WALKER ‘Last Parade’ is an historic release - a box set of the late, great singer/songwriter’s career – with a difference. Almost the entire box set is unreleased, never before heard material. The tracks you do recognise are mostly in a different form. Ballad versions or rockers; instrumental pieces; alt-mixes; heavier guitar versions…you name it! For the rest of the unreleased tracks, this set is a veritable treasure trove of classic BRETT WALKER, representing his various career paths – AOR, melodic rock, midwestern, acoustic – anthems, ballads and those classic singalong songs only Brett Walker can do. For the first time, MRR is excited to announce the details of BRETT WALKER ‘Last Parade’ Box Set. ‘Last Parade’ will be a 6-disc box set (exact design TBC). The set will be priced at $99(includes shipping, airmail worldwide) ‘Last Parade’ is strictly limited to 500 units worldwide and will not be re-pressed. Pre-orders will be available THIS WEEK. Those that do pre-order will receive a download of another full disc worth of audio that couldn’t fit or wasn’t quite suitable due to audio quality.   BRETT WALKER – “Last Parade” BOX SET TRACK LISTING   The Early Demos (Quality Varies Throughout)   01. • Heir Apparent is returning with a long awaited third album called The View From Below which is scheduled to be released October 15th, via No Remorse Records.  The reunited band features three original members.  Promo track "The Door" is available now. https://www.heirapparent.com/ https://www.noremorse.gr/product_info.php?products_id=68064&___p=PRE-ORDER%3A HEIR APPARENT - THE VIEW FROM BELOW CD (NEW) HEIR APPARENT was founded in 1984 by guitarist Terry Gorle. During 1985, the band signed with Black Dragon Records and completed the first album "Graceful Inheritance" which was released in January of 1986. Up to this day, their debut album is considered as one of the best US metal albums of the 80s. After highs and lows in the music industry and line-up changes, finally Heir Apparent was signed by Metal Blade Records and released their second album "One Small Voice" (1989), one of the best progressive metal albums of all times. Although the future looked bright, tensions surrounding commitment and finances within the band caused a rift that split the group. In 2000, Heir Apparent reunited at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany, and in the next years more shows followed with different line-ups for festivals like Keep It True, Metal Assault and Up The Hammers.
The current line-up consists of original members Terry Gorle (guitar), Derek Peace (bass), Ray Schwartz (drummer) with the addition of Op Sakiya (keyboards) and the great new singer Will Shaw.
"The View From Below" was produced by Tom Hall in cooperation with the band. Tom Hall had produced the previous Heir Apparent releases and also worked with Queensrÿche on their "Queensrÿche" EP (1983) and "Empire" (1990), among others.

      Track list:
      1. Man in the Sky
      2. The Door
      3. Here We Aren't
      4. Synthetic Lies
      5. Savior
      6. Further and Farther
      7. The Road to Palestine
      8. Insomnia
